I have a number of CentOS 6 boxes still in service. Today one ate a disk
so I re-installed it. But the X2Go RPM on ElRepo does not work, it's missing a bunch of things that are neither present in the CentOS repository or the ElRepo repository. Even if I chase them down with rpm.pbone.net and install the missing components it still doesn't work.
I don't have time to troubleshoot further, I'm upgrading that machine
to CentOS 7, but someone might want to look at this as others may not have that option because it will break something else.

Couple things:
I'm pretty sure ElRepo doesn't provide X2Go rpms. What repository are you really referring to?
If you actually posted the errors you are seeing some might be able to figure out what is going on.

Sorry, no, it was the one given on your website, after about a day and a
half of battling that machine I was a bit flustered when I wrote that.
Suffice it to say that given your recommended repository I can not get
X2Go to work with the combination of what is provided and what is provided on the CentOS repositories. And even after installing the missing components with rpm.pbone.net, I still couldn't get it to work, there were problems with nxagent.
I had no problems installing x2go on CentOS7, although even on the new
install the logout doesn't work properly, I have to manually kill the session.

As a workaround, you could create a desktop icon/start menu entry/PubApp entry that runs x2goterminate-session.
Also, if you haven't done so already, please file a bug regarding the logout getting stuck somehow.

I did that some time ago.
