You will want to use PAM I suspect. You can how I did this with pam-radius here: http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/doc:deployment-stories:wikid.
as x2go supports pam, any pam ldap how-to should work.
(Note that LDAP cannot proxy authentication creds to a 3rd party server so if you ever want to add 2FA radius is a better protocol.)
