I am still able to login and get a Mate session using x2Go. As I
understand it Xinerama is used for dual monitor setups (which I haven't got).

That was my changes. But didn't I guard that ln call? Looks like I have to dig into it again...

I actually messed up the logic for that part, sorry.
The new nightly builds (due in a few hours) should get rid of that issue.

Yep, all good now, successful update and it even still worked afterward!
