Oh it needs a bunch of stuff python and all you can install with xcode,
I screwed around with it back when I was running MacOS and it can be made to work sort of but I've loaded Debian on my Mac now sorry can't be more specific as it's been awhile.

I have been unable to locate a package, or even instructions on how to install the PyHoca-GUI program on the Mac. Can someone give me a pointer to that? Or should I just wait for the promised update to the regular mac client?
Thanks,
It hasn't been ported so far. The python-x2go has been ported for a commercial product, we have some sort of a patch in our bugtracker [1].
The Pyhoca-CLI command-line client is (with that python-x2go port) easy to run on Mac, as well (but no official dmgs or so are available).
The PyHoca-GUI (based on wxPython) is much more trickier to port because of interfering event loops in wx and gevent (used in Python X2Go).
Greets, Mike
