Can you please report this issue as a bug to X2Go BTS?
Put ,,Package: x2goclient'' as the first line of your mail and send it

Thanks Mike

Hi Mike,
I copied the font directory of the mainstream VcXsrv packge into the embedded VcXsrv directory and it fixed the problem. xlsfonts now reports a
much longer list of fonts and the application GUI is coming fine.By the way, trying to use the mainstream VcXsrv installation as an
external Xserver lead to x2goclient closing with an error message with no way to
change the settings back. We had to edit the registry to regain control. Thanks for the support.
Regards, Stéphane.

Is there a way to install extra fonts for the local (client) X server on windows?
This should not be necessary for this issue, if I understand the issue properly.
I am not so sure here. You probably should try out a font server like xfs.
You could also (as a test) try to VcXsrv from its upstream location
[1] and configure X2Go Client to use that installation of VcXsrv.
If I recall it correctly, we drop several files from VcXsrv
compared to a normal installation. It can well be possible that
there are fonts among them.Mike
