xmodmap -pke > osx-keymap
maps however the physical keyboard, not the virtual mapping!Yes, it’s correct. It’s an executable that manages keymappings. In particular with the command suggested in the link you extract your current keymapping on the osx system.
Let us know if you solve with that…

Hi Ruben,
Thank you, this seems interesting.
I found the xmodmap file in my system under
/opt/X11/bin/
It says:
Create a keymap definition file using
xmodmap
on your local machine (the client machine), XQuartz might be necessary for having this command available. It's also necessary to usex2go
by the way.xmodmap -pke > osx-keymap
However, xmodmap is a binary file. How could I create one or modify one??
Thanks in advance!
Best, Markus

I always had problems with OSX and x2go. In my case it was on a fedora Fc20. I solved setting up English on the target machine and then providing a xmodmap keymapping. Did you try something like this?

Dear all,
I am getting myself comfortable with X2goclient. However, I cannot get the
special characters in the remote environement (# @ etc., principally the
AltGr functions).
I use the version X2Go Client v. 4.1.0.0 (Qt - 4.8.7) on a MacBook Pro mid
2012 running OSX ElCaptain 10.11.6 (15G1611) with a standard american
keyboard which I have mapped CH_FR.
On the linux Side it is Centos6, where I have selected System => Keyboard
=> Layouts :
Keyboard model: MBP intel
Mapping CH_FR Macintosh
How can I get that keyboard problem fixed?
Thank you very much!
