While my test build of a stretch image on xenial is still running, it looks rather promising. Ubuntu does some rather brain-dead things wrt/ live-build, it seems, but for what I found so far, I was able to add workarounds to the code. Okay, so, after a few more test runs, it looks like live-build on Ubuntu either has issues with adding a security mirror, or I'm doing something wrong re: the way the parameters should be specified.
