I don't have an answer for you and I don't use Ubuntu (or Windows/Mac).

But, in my Fedora and RHEL8 server systems, the screen saver was problematic (sessions hang when screensaver kicks in)

I uninstalled xscreensaver and xfce4-screensaver (I use an XFCE4 environment).

Also, you had this in the logs:

[ 01/02/25 17:34:54.391 session_init FATAL ERROR ] No composite extension

Composting needs to be disabled for whatever window manager you are using.

I forgot to mention – this is an LUbuntu system that has just had do-release-upgrade run from 22.04 to 24.04.

The version information that may be relevant is:

x2goserver is 4.1.0.6-1.1build1
nxagent is 2:3.5.99.27-1.1build1
