Just as a counter feedback. I have tested nxcomp 3.5.0-2 on several systems (Debian squeeze, Ubuntu lucid) and the problem does not occur here.
However, I have observed such failures before. Does the problem persist after server reboot (that is after restart of dbus & co)?
Yep, I've tried "everything". I can start a Gnome or Xfce session locally (on the console), but x2go desktop sessions just don't work.
Tried starting Xfce session in x2go, I can just see the desktop coming before the window disappears, this is in auth.log
Oct 2 11:34:24 debian polkitd(authority=local): Registered Authentication Agent for session /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Session16 (system bus name :1.124 [/usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1], object path /org/gnome/PolicyKit1/AuthenticationAgent, locale sv_SE.UTF-8) Oct 2 11:34:26 debian polkitd(authority=local): Unregistered Authentication Agent for session /org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Session16 (system bus name :1.124, object path /org/gnome/PolicyKit1/AuthenticationAgent, locale sv_SE.UTF-8) (disconnected from bus)
No dbus errors.
Starting a single application works, tried gedit and gnome-terminal. Nothing in auth.log from dbus or policykit.
Please switch to loglevel=debug in /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf and see
what syslog brings then.
If you have not updated x2goserver.conf yet then place this stanza
into the file
[log] # possible levels are: emerg, alert, crit, err, warning, notice, info, debug loglevel=debug
Thanks, mike
