I just see this e-mail now.
I've the same problem.
You can change the Ubuntu screen resolution but eatch reboot it comes back to the defaut one. NOTE: I've no hardware display/monitor so it might be because of that

Hello,
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. Locally I use Unity and a Gnome remote session. Since V. 4.0.0.1 I have this problem: In the properties of the remote session I have set a custom display size, but the remote session has always 1,920×1,080 (This is also the resolution of my display). My local unity environment needs some pixel for the taskbar in the top. Because of this there is not anymore enough place for the remote session, the taskbar in the bottom of Gnome is truncated. If I use the Fullscreen mode, the taskbars in the top and in the bottom are missing. I can see only the symbols (files and folders) on my desktop.
I deleted the old x2go folders/profiles from my home, but it doesn't help.
Thanks Michael
