Fullscreen session stops working in unity

Hello, I googled it, but didn't came up with a solution (probably due to wrong searchterms). I am connecting to a x2go server just fine in fullscreen mode. When I minimize the session (using the top right hot corner) and go back, I can't open the window after the second time I did that (minimize & reopen the window). The session still seems to be working & valid, just I can't see the window. I am using x2go-stable from ubuntu ppa on Ubuntu-13.10 with standard unity (no tweaks). Did someone have a similar problem and solved it? Best regards, Markus

Can't open display remotely or locally when using hostname in $DISPLAY

Can anybody assist me with debugging what I am doing wrong in this case? I am running the X2Go client in Window 7 and the X2Go server on a RedHat 6 machine. I would like to have a remote linux host export the display back to the X2Go server, which would then forward it to the Windows 7 client. Starting a new X2Go session, this works on the local host: [user@localmachine ~]$ echo $DISPLAY :84 [user@localmachine ~]$ xhost + access control disabled, clients can connect from any host [user@localmachine ~]$ xclock # note - the xclock starts without problems But on a remote host, I found I could not connect to that display, even with "xhost +" already set: [user@remotemachine ~]$ setenv DISPLAY localmachine:84 [user@remotemachine ~]$ xclock Error: Can't open display: localmachine:84 [user@remotemachine ~]$ As an experiment, I tried setting the DISPLAY on localmachine to use the hostname, after which it could not connect to the display: user@localmachine ~]$ setenv DISPLAY localmachine:84 [user@localmachine ~]$ xclock Error: Can't open display: localmachine:84 [user@localmachine ~]$ xhost xhost: unable to open display "localmachine:84" I'm probably missing something obvious, but don't have any idea what is misconfigured. Sudden problems with x2gobroker

x2goserver and recent GNOME Desktops

Hi all, Has anybody succeeded on connecting on a system that has a recent version of gnome (3.8 or 3.10)? I tried it in Ubuntu 13.10 and in Fedora 19 and Fedora 20 prerealese. For Ubuntu 13.10 I've used the x2go* packages found in launchpad and for Fedora 19 and 20 the official packages. In Ubuntu there is a gnome-fallback.session file that is link to gnome-flashback.session and there is a gnome-fallback-compiz.session that is link to gnome-flashback-compiz.session The first one uses metacity and should work with x2go and the latter uses compiz, so it probably needs 3d support. If I try to do: gnome-session --session gnome-fallback or gnome-session --session gnome-flashback I get a black screen and in the ~/.xsession-x2go-errors I see lines like this: Script for cjkv started at run_im. Script for default started at run_im. Script for cjkv started at run_im. x2go session is the wrong dimensions

Hi Sometimes when starting an x2go session (KDE as it happens) I find that the session is created with dimensions 1920x1200 whereas my client window is eg 800x600. I therefore only get to interact with a small part of the remote desktop. Come someone say please: 1) Why does this happen? 2) How can I prevent it happening? 2) How can I resize the session to match the client window size. Thanks Roderick Johnstone

distributing user settings

Hello, I have recently setup a multi user x2go server, and I think it works great. I've got one issue though, that I would like to ask for help with or ideas about: When creating a session in the client, there's a lot of settings to fill out, so to tell a user how to set their client up I need to send a fairly long email, and it doesn't seem as easy to the user as it is once they are set up. With NX, I could copy a session settings file onto a CD along with the client software, tell the user to install the software and double click on the session file to login. They were then prompted only for username and password in a simple dialogue, and this was no bother at all to the user. (this was before NX4 was released with a very complicated user interface) I'd like to do something similar - find a way to make sure the user doesn't have to set colours and image format, click fullscreen, click to enable audio, set the link speed etc. And I want it to work both for Windows and Linux users. I've seen there's some other client software for x2go that I haven't tried, and maybe that's the solution - I will try shortly. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks :-) Best Regards, Carl

Setting keyboard mapping in KDE sessions

Hi As far as I can see, the x2go client keyboard settings are not respected when starting a KDE session on the server because KDE overrides these with its own settings. For our NX server server I was able to override the KDE settings by setting UserScriptAfterSessionStart in node.cfg to reference a script that parsed the NX session keyboard file and constructed the appropriate setxkbmap command. Is there an equivalent to the UserScriptAfterSessionStart functionality for the x2go server? Thanks Roderick Johnstone

We are successfully using Mike's excellent guide to Unity Greeter with X2Go Remote Login Support. http://sunweavers.net/blog/unity-greeter-with-x2go-remote-login-support One of the things we want to do next, is to tweak the remote-login-service.conf so that username and password are passed to the UCCS-like WebUI of the X2Go Session Broker automaticly. I have tried add a line to the config file, but the syntax is obviously wrong: [Remote Login Service] Servers=MyUCCSTest [Server MyUCCSTest] Name=Remote Login URI=http://x2gobroker.localdomain:8080/uccs/inifile/ echo <mypassword> | thin-client-config-agent <myuserid> I have also tried a lot of other variations over the above, with no success. This test works: $ SERVER_ROOT=http://x2gobroker.localdomain:8080/uccs/inifile/ $ export SERVER_ROOT $ echo <mypassword> | thin-client-config-agent <myuserid> Can <mypassword> and <myuserid> be implemented in a similar way to the conf file ?
