File Sharing in X2GoClient stopped working with Win11

Hi all, Folder sharing suddenly stopped working after one of the latest Windows 11 updates. It was working fine below, but now users are reported either seeing this error: "Failed to open URI "file://tmp/.x2go-username/media/disk/_cygdrive_C_Users_username_foldername" and "No such file or directory". Or not seeing that error, but files still not showing on the remote server. In both cases (i.e., error and no error) the remote server *does* list the shared folders on the remote server under ~/media/disk. When there is no error, the folder just looks empty. Both users have the latest client for Windows v4.1.2.2. Also, although I do not know if it is related, a command line window opens every time I start X2GoClient on Windows and shows this error: /cygdrive/C/Users/user.name/.x2go/etc/sshd_config line 3: Deprecated option UsePrivilegeSeparation Any help would be much appreciated! Hello Uli! Thanks for your reply. Published applications are not necessarily one-window, strictly spoken, a terminal with two tabs has (at least) two windows. As long as they are inside the terminals main-window, everything works (sad to say: most of the time). If there are two separate windows, which are in the current workspace, this works too. Below of that, it gets complicated. If two windows are in separate workspaces, it works sometimes. I am not sure, why at all - from your guess. If you have two terms at WS1 and WS3 and you resume on WS5, NO window appear at all, though the processes are running well on the server side! For firefox, this is more different. >From several windows, which were originally located in different workspaces, only one window will be restored, this of the current workspace. If all were located in the same workspace, they are restored to the current workspace, if you are in that workspace, which was current at 'suspend' time - otherwise: NO window appear at all! But for the first case, it gets interesting. Go to 'more tools/taskmanager' (of the fox!), you'll see all windows as processes. Double-clicking on of them brings it back to the workspace were it was originally located! Works for all of them. Back to the first cases above. If a session is restored by the x2go-client (I do not know about this, due to lack of documentation), it knows all windows and restores them - so ether the session on the server or the client must give the window-manager advice. I am starting my caja browsers at logon this way and they will be even tagged to be visible on all workspaces. So suspending a session must save the workspace accordingly. I asked me, on which side, the workspace will be read at all, server oder client? Just to be sure to have the same number of WSs, I made them equal (for the testuser), but this does not change anything (may be, a restart is necessary?). >From toolchains perspective, X(&co.) were never made for suspending window sessions (at least, so far I know) and the window manager is only a filter for the workspace numbers. What remains is, that only x2go can handle this at all. This was - a little - exploration, which shed me light on the sessions, which do not work after return from hibernate my box in the morning. The application itself does not know about the workspaces at all. So probably the window manager does not recognize the restored windows as previously known windows. I have no idea at the moment how to even check if this theory applies here. You could try to run another desktop environment locally and check if the behaviour changes. Resume/restoration of windows to linux workspaces

Hello! I am using published applications to run firefox. I am on debian bullseye (client and server). There is a big behavioral difference from using fox between this and using fox local in regard of crash and restore. If the fox restores a crashed window set locally, all windows appear on the workspace, they were originally running on. Not so with x2go - they all appear in the workspace, were the restauration starts. I usually have >50 windows and this is a big pain. Is this the normal behavior? If not, where to look for the problem? Note, this does not depend on a users profile. I created an additional user on the server and it behaves the same. Thanks, Manfred

socket bind error with Windows client

Hello, randomly (about one in three attempts) when I try to connect to one of my x2go sessions, it doesn't work and I'm getting the error Can't create SSH tunnel for the start of the X2GO Session (NX): socket bind error localhost:57030 (translated from German, hope it's correct). netstat doesn't seem to list the port as being in use. So far I didn't find any other way to recover the situation other than rebooting, which is a bit of a hassle sometimes. Client is "X2GoClient V. 4.1.2.2 (Qt - 4.8.6)" Curiously, the second x2go session I use to seems to connect without issues all the time. In case it matters: The machine is connected using OpnnVPN. Turning off antivirus didn't make a difference. Any ideas? - Hanno

Can't get X2Go connection opened, with error PANIC! The remote NX proxy closed the connection.

In short: X2Goserver is hosted in Ubuntu 22.04 computer. It is being accessed from Ubuntu 20.04 and Windows 11. Previously, everything worked well, but today morning, I could not any more get connection to this computer, not from Ubuntu or from Windows 11. Force using IPv6 in x2goclient

Hello I'm connecting to some hosts behind NAT. These hosts are using dynv6 DNS so I'm able to SSH directly to them, if I instruct SSH to use only IPv6, not IPv4. How can I instruct the X2Go client to use only IPv6 when connecting to some host? Thanks and best regards, Kalle

Copy/paste from client not working

I'm connecting to a Fedora 37 server running KDE Plasma from a Fedora 33 KDE system. The version of X2Go installed on the server is 4.1.0.3. The version on the client 4.1.2.2. I'm connecting using the X2Goclient and bidirectional clipboard is enabled. I can copy from the server and paste on the client, but the reverse, from client to server, does not work. xrandr settings - how do you handle this?

Do you connect to a running x2go session using screens with different resolutions? Let's say I started an x2go session (xfce) from my laptop, which happens to be 1920x1600. Later I connect to that same session, this time using a monitor with say 3840x2160. Now I need to resize everything. Going the other way is even worse. How do you handle this? Thanks, Neal
