I cannot connect to server

Hello! I have x2goserver 4.1.0.3 (running on Linux Mint ver 20.1 with Mate) and two x2goclients (ver 4.1.2.1 on Debian Stable and ver 4.1.2.2 on Archlinux). Server is behind firewall and I am connecting to it via 'ssh -L' tunnel through machine, which is visible to both side. SSH connection from both clients works fine. But if vhile x2go connection from Debian works, I cannot connect from Archlinux and I do not know why - can you help me? In the attachment is two "--debug" client's outputs. The beginnig looks fine on both, but in the "client-arch-bad" outputs somewhere at the line 91 it started to go wrong. Many thanks for help. Jana

X2go Server Float Windows?

Hello Everybody! Please, i have a question! I am migrating an internal server, from fedora 11 + freenxserver, to debian buster + x2go server. The basic are working, but we have a custom application, it's a very simple application. I need to export xterm or gnome-terminal, and execute bash script, this script calls a simple text menu. The menu contains options, and this option calls some programs. on the freenx server i can export terminal and other applications in floating and separate windows, but i can't do this on x2go. When I access the x2go server from the x2go client, I can see all applications on 1 window only, like vnc access. It's possible to configure x2go server or client to float and separate windows? Thanks...

Hello, I am trying to use X2go to connect to my VM, but every time i open the session X2go fails and i have a message x2goclient.exe has stopped working. Everything was fine, a couple of weeks ago. I have windows 10. Can you imagine what causes the problem? Thanks in advance

session.log file fills disk

We are seeing this on multiple machines where the session.log file is massive. I've seen them as large as 82gb. X2Go fails to connect when SSH config contains multiple jump hosts

Hi, I have a few hosts in my ~/.ssh/config file which have ProxyJump lines specifying _multiple_ jump hosts: Host foo ForwardAgent yes ProxyJump first.example.com, second.example.com It seems like X2Go doesn't like this kind of configuration. I complains when I try to establish any connection (even when trying to connect to other hosts which don't have a line like this): "Cannot connect to first.example.com:22 Failed to process system configuration" Everything works fine in cases that require only a single jump host. As far as I can tell from the ssh_config (5) man page my configuration with multiple jump hosts is valid. Any suggestions how to deal with this? What is the hash algorithm / format used for the host key hash during connection instantiation?

Hi, I'm using x2go to connect from a Linux Mint (19) machine to an Ubuntu server using a RSA key over SSH. During the connection instantiation x2go presents me the following question: Der Server ist unbekannt. Vertrauen Sie diesem Host-Key? Hash des öffentlichen Schlüssels: remote.server.com:22 - d7:2e:e0:ae:27:7a:e5:33:59:6d:00:12:75:22:0a:c6:9a:10:31:a9 I. e. "The server is unkown. Do you trust this host key?" I now have problems to match the presented fingerprint hash to the host identity keys that are present on the server machine under /etc/ssh/ssh_host_*key*. When I later inspect the .ssh/known_hosts file on my Linux Mint machine (client side) I can match the public key there to the public host identity key on the server side that has the following fingerprints (displayed with 'ssh-keygen -l -E {md5|sha256} -f ssh_host_ecdsa_key'): ssh_host_ecdsa_key.pub: 256 SHA256:3vf9PbLKhlaFpff7SxpaDLyrfYJF8iJ+Px3bMzLNY2U root(a)internal.server.com (ECDSA) 256 MD5:7b:9a:76:4b:58:ce:87:bf:3f:56:41:a9:7c:f8:bf:e9 root(a)internal.server.com (ECDSA) Neither of these fingerprints can be matched to the fingerprint / hash that x2go presents to me. The MD5 hash line is similar but shorter (only 16 hash bytes aka. 128 bits that matches a MD5 sum length). The x2go hash has 20 bytes (160 bits) hash length. The question is how can I reliably match the fingerprint x2go presents to me to the right host ID hash. Am I comparing / expecting the wrong keys? Can somebody please shed some light on this issue. Terminating session when connection drops takes a long time

As previously mentioned I have a flakey internet connection and must frequently reestablish my x2go connection but this is compounded by a problem: When the connection is momentarily interrupted getting reconnected takes a while because of strange behavior in trying to close out and reopen the x2go session: Click the x to close the window and I'm asked "No response received from the remote server. Do you want to terminate the current session?" which is not strange at all but when I click "yes" it doesn't do so immediately, but can take quite a while. Other windows pop up with additional questions depending on what I do to overcome the delay. Clicking on other than window border doesn't bring it to the front

I'm wondering if I'm having trouble with x2go or with X11 or my kinesthetic memory, but for the last few days, my reflexes to bring a terminal window to the front by clicking on other than its border is being defied. I have to click on the border to get it to come to the front. Disconnecting and reconnecting (even with login) does not reset this condition.

mounting local folders not working

Hi! I am using the X2Go-Client with mounted home directories. Now the mount does not work from both clients (mac and ubuntu 20.10). While the connection is being established, there is no error message. What I have checked so far: remote user on server is in group „fuse“ on mac: enabled remote login for all users Any idea on how to fix this issue? Thanks! Bernhard

X2Go server on BSD

Hi, I am wondering if there are pointers on th way to port X2Go server to BSD Unix. From what I have been pocking around, it is highly dependant on Linux, using tools that are not really standard like ss instead of netstat for example. Poking in the scripts, I have not been able to go very far, so I am wondering if it is worth speding some more time or if it is a lost cause. So far, I have been using a Windows machine as a desktop, with the X terminal X-Win 32. UIt allows me a simple access to my various servers at the click of a button. Since I have changed for an Ubuntu desktop, accessomg the servers is way less simple and less integrated (because Gnome or any window manager that I have tried is grabbing so many key combination that I want to use for something else). But X-Win32 still works in wine and I can port all my Windows environment with little to no change. But I wanted to try a different X solution maybe, hence exploring X2Go. TIA, Olivier --

A couple of simple questions

Recently I installed x2goserver on an Ubuntu Mate 20.04 machine and x2goclient on my CentOS 7 workstation. I configured the session with "[X] Try auto login (via SSH Agend ot default SSH key)" as I have an SSH key installed on the remote machine. It connects fine over my LAN and I find the CPU utilization on the remote machine much lower than with x11vnc which I had been using. Her are my client related questions... 1) What is the CORRECT way to disconnect from the remote machine and leave the remote session (and the programs on it) running? The goal being to be able to check back later on the status of the work which the remote machine is performing. 2) How does one connect to more than one remote machine? I have only been able to do this by loading an additional x2goclient for the next remote machine. This seems to waste a lot of real estate. "Hardware" related question running x2go in LXC container

Hello! I am new to x2go and I try to use x2go server hosted inside a LXC container, which is currently a privileged container. My use is from windows (x2go client). The host and the container are running debian 10. This is basically running. I would be happy to get help with this questions: - how to find, which video driver is in use and what options do I have to NOT access the hosts video and using framebuffer or something like this? - is there something like a virtual sound card? Even the host does not have one and redirecting sound from browser would no really require one, but I do net get sound (I see a pulseaudio running on the windows side)? - the clipboard stops often working and if one uses another session in a second x2go-client, only the last started one will work - is there a trick to restart it and to make it work for two ore more x2go sessions? Main window flash at startup with --hide

Black Screen

Hello, I successfully installed X2GO and wanted to use it with a mounted /home on CIFS / AD server. The security part (krb, SSSD) is working well, but after the authentication, I have 2 secondes the X2GO windows and the session close itself. If I unmount the /home from the CIFS server, the session is working properly. That setup is working with FastX, but I prefer using X2GO (better perfs and customizations). Have x2go use Windows 10 default ssh-agent

Hi, Windows 10 comes with an "OpenSSH Authentication Agent" that manages SSH keys. Once added, the SSH keys are kept in the Windows 10 Credential Storage and encrypted/decrypted with the user login. Documentation here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/openssh/open… I was able to use this for ssh in WSL using this github repo: https://github.com/bahamas10/windows-bash-ssh-agent Is it possible to have the Windows x2go client talk to the Windows 10 ssh-agent? Disconnect Acts Like CTRL-s Press

If I lose my internet connection, it seems to, in effect, press CTRL-s on the remote terminal window. This is most frustrating as I will frequently leave a process running over night only to discover in the morning that it has paused execution. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

After connection is restored, a program that had, during the outage, plotted a graph, fails to show the graph on the x2go client with this message: X Error of failed request: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied) Major opcode of failed request: 88 (X_FreeColors) However, rerunning the program in the same terminal window succeeds.

new x2go version fail to connect

Hi everyone, I just updated my X2Go windows client versione from 4.1.2.0 to 4.1.2.2, I saw a change in session preferences: under session type there was "connect to local desktop", now I see"X2Go/X11 Desktop Sharing". Unfortunately now I'm no longer able to connect to my remote systems. It seems like the software crashes and closes when I try to login. I think I downgrade again to 4.1.2.0. however: is it normal? Hi, I am using Ubuntu Desktop Server with XFCE Desktop Environment, and able to access using X2GO client. but other person want to access my screen , he is unable to access it, He can access the Server with New Session, but screen sharing does not seem possible in X2go . Could you please help me to share a screen with multiple X2go users ? Roy.

No input accepted on subsequest sessions

Hi, I use x2go on a few computers (both servers and clients) and have problem on one of them. I'm connecting to xfce (if that matters) on ubuntu 20.04. On my first connection (i.e. when xfce4-session starts), everything works OK. When I disconnect (close x2go window) and reconnect to the same session (no matter what I use - "xdcmp session", "X2go desktop sharing --> resume", etc), I can only "view" what's on the screen and no input is accepted from keyboard or mouse. It doesn't even detect mouse movement (if I hover over something, it doesn't work). Funny enough, I can resize window size and it words as expected (it increases resolution). If, however, I open a new session or kill existing xfce4-session (using ssh), the new connection accepts input without any problems - until I close the connection and reconnect, that is. Does anyone have an idea what could be done to make it work? Thanks, May

x2go much slower than vnc?

I just learned about x2go and wanted to try it out for a remote session to a host I have so far done using vnc serving a xfce desktop. But sadly my observation is that x2go is *much* slower and less responsive than VNC. For example just moving around a window on the desktop (same size) works smoothly with VNC but is done in a very coarse fashion in x2go with the window jumping around slowly and with considerable delay. Both connections go over the same ssh tunnel, same kind of LAN so all other things the same, the problem must lie with x2go or the x2go settings. Is there any explanation for this or anything that could be changed to increase the speed of x2go? Is x2go not *supposed* to be faster than VNC? I have experimented a bit with the connection speed and compression settings but that did not change anything either.

Dear all, Today I updated from openSUSE Tumbleweed 20200708 to 20200724, and now whenever I try to paste the clipboard contents into a single application launched remotely via x2go, the x2go session disconnects and terminates. Losing mouse click ability and keyboard events

Hello, First post, thank you for welcoming me here. From an Ubuntu 20.04 client to an Ubuntu 20.04 server, the default repository install is working out of the box, all is nice. But from times to times (random but around 15 min. ), with no obvious reasons, I'm losing the ability to click : - the display is still fine - the mouse cursor is still drawn - when moving the cursor, it is reacting to the windows borders, URL links, any sensitive parts of the display - but no mouse button click seems to be sent - no keyboard stroke seems to be sent either When killing the client and connecting again, the display is still fine, but the same problem remains. I tried to run the x2go client from a terminal to have a look at what could be wrong, but nothing obvious came to my mind. I tried to have a look at the server's log but I found none. I don't know if I could run the client and/or the server with additional verbosity to try to get more hints? Does that look like something familiar? Thank you -- Nicolas ECARNOT

Hi all, I'm trying to share my files from my personal laptop to the X2GO one with the file-sharing options given in the GUI, I'm able to view it in home/username/media/disk, but when I open it, it says permission denied.I've tried changing the directory permissions of the directory but to no avail. When I see permissions, -rwxrwxrwx 1 ubuntu ubuntu 96 Sep 26 11:14 'E_lammps (sshfs-disk-lxde)' When I open it, Error opening directory "/tmp/.x2go-ubuntu/media/disk/_cygdrive_E_lammps" : Permission denied Kindly advise Best RegardsRupayan

x2goclient goes 100% CPU

I read of similar issues in the past, but none seems like mine. If I leave x2goclient running and I don't use my PC for a while (like half an hour or more) when I return I find sometimes it runs at 100% CPU. Killing and restarting it solves the issue, but usually it occurs some time for my machine to reply to input when it happens. I have a Debian 10 (x2goclient 4.1.2.1) and I connect to the server (still Debian 10) by a Forticlient VPN and a Gnome session. I could provide more information, if you told me how. -- Lorenzo

Lag in RStudio desktop in nested ssh sessions (or qsub -I) MacOS clients

Hi folks, Multi-layered one here. We have x2goserver (4.1.0.4-0.0x2go1.0.git20200228.1815.heuler.el7) available on a (CentOS7) login node of our HPC cluster for folks to submit jobs from. If they start an x2go client session from a Mac to our login node, submit interactive jobs with X11 tunnelling enabled (or even just ssh -X directly to an execution node) and run RStudio (1.1.463) desktop from within that second host, there is an un-usable lag in their session. If they type in the console, it can take up to 10 seconds to register and display the keystroke. No errors, everything works, it just isn't very responsive. Linux x2go clients are fine. Windows x2go clients are fine. I know that's a lot of layers they're going through but I'm at a loss for identifying which layer is the issue. Any troubleshooting tips? Anyone out there experiencing similar symptoms? Cheers

Hi, I'm trying to set up an x2go broker using x2gobroker-wsgi, and it seems to be almost working - but fails at the last hurdle. I have a pool of x2go servers running (that work fine individually); and listed in a pool in x2gobroker-sessionprofiles.conf (They do require an ssh proxy, which I specified in the sessionprofiles) I have a central pgsql db successfully recording sessions for the x2go servers. On the broker server, from the command line: * using x2gobroker-testauth succeeds * the load balancer seems to be working fine * command line running x2gobroker --task listsessions shows the session configured in x2gobroker-sessionprofiles.conf I have the x2gobroker-wsgi set up as a virtualhost. With debugging turned on, and most authentication disabled (so I'm expecting to have to log in first to the broker multiple times), I can visit in a browser to https://broker.my.domain/plain/ (also to .../plain/inifile ) and it just says "Access granted". If I use x2goclient, I try x2goclient --broker-url=https://broker.my.domain/plain --debug In x2goclient I then get a login screen, followed by a pop-up error message: "Host requires authentication"; the debug messages say: Broker HTTP request failed with error: "Host requires authentication" The apache log file just shows successful connections. I was expecting to get a choice among the pool of servers... Since I am using a macOS machine to get my stuff done I am not able to use this anymore because company policies only allow Apple notarized applications to be installed on the machines. How to disable File Sharing functionality

Hi, I want to know how I can disable the file sharing functionality. I guess this has to be done on server side since the client is free to do whatever he wants with the x2go client. I'm dealing with a specific use case in which the client should not be able to share files (in/out the server) for security reasons therefore the only required functionality is the remote desktop and that's it. Accepting RDP certs in Linux

Attempting to log into a remote Windows 10 machine using RDP in POP_OS x2go, and I am unable to accept the security certificate. Any ideas? I can log into the Win10 machine using RDP if I am using another Windows machine.

Sticky (repeated) arrows using x

Hi, I have a sticky keys problem, when I connect from windows 10 pc to a linux server using x2Go version (4.1.2.0), connection type: XFCE. Then when I click shift + arrow right in order to mark a specific text and then release the keyboard the text is still being marked until the end of it. Also I cannot stop the operation, I need to restart the session. It happens using all editors, and using all arrows. Unfortunately, the latest version doesn't work, as it fails to connect to the server. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tamir

Hi, I installed Session Broker , and connected with listed session profiles. I am using xfce Desktop Environment. But getting issues, whenever I access xfce desktop it opens a new Desktop, instead it should open existing Desktop. is it possible to use same Desktop Display that currently running ? copy/paste issues

I (still) have a strange problem with copy/paste on my setup. When x2go client is active, copy/paste stops working *locally *(nevermind if it works between local and remote). Client is using kde, server is mate. Any ideas? -- *Those who don't understand recursion are doomed to repeat it*
