Need to remap ONE key ('p')

I have an x2go client-server configuration that works perfectly /except/ the that the letter lowercase 'p' does not appear when typed. Can someone tell my how to remap a single key? Hi, I forgot to mention an important point on my setup: User Peter is in a chroot, while user Tom is not (on the main host, where the chroot is running). In a X2go session, I can use the same display when I do a xhost + and set the DISPLAY variable for the second user to the same as first user, but when I do that for the chroot user Peter, to be able to use Toms display, it does not work. What special steps are required to make this possible for chroot? I tried to install x2goserver in the chroot, set the port for ssh to 23, but I cannot log in that way to Peter. Thanks, Markus

Problems with meta characters on Mac client

Hi, I can't seem to figure out how to make x2goclient send characters such as | (pipe) and @ to my terminalserver, when connected from a Mac client. It works fine from a Linux client. My terminalserver is running XFCE on Ubuntu with latest x2goserver and x2goclient 4.0.1.0 on OSX 10.8 with danish keyboard layout. I have tried changing layouts in the XFCE settings, but that just results in all keyboard input being scrambled around. When I set it back to "system standard" most keys work correctly, except stuff that requires meta-keys. Pipe on danish Mac is alt+i, which logically just produces the alt+i effect in XFCE. @ is alt+' (next to enter) on a danish mac keyboard. This produces nothing in XFCE. Any hints for how to at least be able to produce those characters in an x2goclient session? No I must say, it's unstable under linux too, not only win7. My server side is with automatic updates switched on and I see multiple times in week a notifications about that. Sometimes it will suggest me to reboot my computer to update but I will not do it before weekend - somewhere in the saturday evening but not at every week. My linux client side is with automatic updates turned off and I will update it manually at friday afternoon (if I remember to do it and if I have a time to do it) before turning off for the weekend. So it is very hard to tell which updates and at which side was a cause of the problems. Windows client is updated very rarely. But somewhere at last two weeks I started to see problems connecting to suspended x2go sessions. After then I updated also windows client but no better stability. If I connect from linux client it will disconnect me after I try to connect to my suspended session (for a moment I can see my desktop and sometimes I can click something and run a command or two). Every time I see my suspended session (with ID number) so I will assume my login was correct. After few retries (number of times differ from day to day) I will get a connection and it is stable until evening then I disconnect it before going home. At home I will connect from windows client and also there is login correct because I see my suspended session with ID number (sometimes it is not 50 but over that but this is a same until I must make a new session). If I try to resume this session I will sometimes see my desktop for a few seconds (and sometimes I can click and run a command or two) but it will disconnect me again saying something about my incorrect credentials. After few retries I will get my session and this is stable until i disconnect it later. PyHoca-GUI is more stable and with this I can reconnect better. I have'nt used windows x2go-client for a last week or two anymore. But there are also cases there after a few unsuccessfull reconnections PyHoca-GUI will not show my suspended session anymore and I must start a new one. And there is a new session at the server - the old one is gone with all related programs closed.

multiple xorg.conf's in x2go TCE

We use the 'hostname' to distinguish the xorg.conf's for different thin clients. The attached init-script 'x2gohostname' replaces the default 'hostname' with the ethernet address of the network device eth0. Colons are replaced by dashes. Xorg will search the xorg.conf.<hostname> file in the directory /usr/etc/X11/, which correspond to /opt/x2gothinclient/chroot/usr/etc/X11/ in the PXE-boot environment. The init-script goes to /opt/x2gothinclient/chroot/etc/init.d/. Enter the chroot-environment executing 'x2gothinclient_shell'. 'update-rc.d x2gohostname defaults' will generate the symlinks for the different run-levels. HI all, I following this guide to compile and install x2go server in a mandriva 2010.0 version http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:development:build-howto-linux:x2goserver but when i try to git clone the nx library ( http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:development:build-howto-linux:nx-libs) i have this error: fatal: destination path 'nxcomp' already exists and is not an empty directory. is the same problem for xccommpext and nxcompshad so i do a search in the web-git and found the nxlibrarys in this url ( http://code.x2go.org/releases/source/nx-libs/) so i compile and install one by one from this repository. Now, in this moment i try to do the 12 point compile and install x2goserver from git, but when i do a make comand, the sistem block in this part for man_page in 'cd man && fin * -type f'; do man2html man/$man_pag > .build_man2html/html/$man_page.html;done and noting happend. can any helpme? -- todo se puede mi warrior C.A.P.L

Capture client-side error messages?

I'm attempting to setup x2go with Debian (wheezy) on an ec2-instance and the OS X client (this is my first attempt to use x2go). I'm getting error messages, but the window that displays them closes after a one or two seconds, so I can't read them. Is there a way to log the error messages with the OS X client? Or to keep the window open? thanks

Arrow keys problems with openSUSE

Hello, I'm having the problem with arrow keys, i.e. when I press the down array key it's translated to the return key. I've tried with the command x2gosetkeyboard in the server-side but It didn't work. I'm using openSUSE 12.3 on both machines(server and client) I have configured KDE with spanish keyboard layout and pc105/es keyboard type in both machines. In x2goclient I have unchecked the option "Keep current keyboard Settings" (checked doesn't work either). The values here are: Keyboard layout:es Keyboard model: pc105/es Regards. Carlos

Black screen for existing session

Hi there, After the recent Ubuntu update of x2go I'm having some problems with my windows client on Windows 7: Everytime I try to resume a session the screen goes completly dark, even the x2go logo dosn't appear. The only way I can regain graphics is to terminate the session and start it again. I try then to update the Client to the last on the site and the problem is still hapening. Sometimes I run the install for Windows and the problem is solved but this seems a question of "luck" since this dosn't allways solve the problem. The server is using gnome. also, I try to decrease the bandwith and image quality in the session options but didn't work and even create a new Windows profile and run a fresh x2go profile. I need to know how connections failure are handled by x2go. E.g. Suppose a session is running a gui application (such as Netbeans) in gnome on the server, and the connection is lost. Is the application killed? Or is it possible to reconnect to the same session? thanks PS if there's any documentation on this sort of thing, I'd like to know where to find it - I haven't been able to locate any.

Screen resolution

X2go-broker user/password twice

Hi all, The x2go-broker configuration is working correctly but when I try the command x2goclient --broker-url=http://server:8080/plain/inifile/ and set the name and password appears another window to select KDE or GNOME (my configuration). When I choose one of them I have to set again the user and password. It's possible to put it just once? Thanks,

X2go-broker problem

Hi all, I need to install a load balancing system and I know that is possible with x2go-broker. I have already installed and configured x2go-broker on a server and when I try to inicialice the app with this command: x2goclient --broker-url=http://server:8080/plain/inifile/ It is open in two windows. One with the toolbar and another one with the desktop. Hi, i'm using X2go for the first time. First i was searching for the x2goserver-xsession package, but you wrote it is included in the x2goserver-rpm. OK. Thanks. Next proplem: I can not connect. I got a message like: "Access denied. Authentication that can continue: publickey,keyboard-interactive" I found a solution here: http://www.linux-club.de/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=116048 . Font not found

Hello, I've set up the most recent x2go version on a CentOS6 system (Desktop: Gnome). It runs out of the "box" and it looks pretty good, except one thing: Some fonts are not found. At least one of our tools gives e.g. the following error message: * Unable to find font name: "-*-courier-medium-r-*-*-12-*" When using VNC this message is not displayed, so the font is be available on the system. Enabling the "debug" loglevel didn't give additional messages in the log file(s). Has anybody an idea how to make this font(s) known to X2Go? Space key behaves like ctrl-alt-f (switch fullscreen)

Hi, suddenly the space key behaves like ctrl-alt-f (switch fullscreen). I run ubuntu12.04 on the client and on the server with the repository from x2go/stable. I did a reboot of client and server and a software update, but it is still the same. Any hints? The keyboard is not the problem, I can work on the client PC like usual. Regards, Thomas

Problem with Pulseaudio

Hallo, here is a problem with pulseaudio, maybe someone can assist me. Right now I cannot access my X2Go & check myself. - as soon as sound is activated from inside the client it does not work within the session for this user. The pulseaudioserver does no longer get a connection and the volume fader is greyed out. The sound cannot be restored by de-selecting sound for that session. Hello, I recently started using X2GO after several years of using FreeNX. Is there a way to install additional fonts as the ones provided with NXClient, namely: nxfonts-75dpi-3.5.0-1.exe nxfonts-100dpi-3.5.0-1.exe nxfonts-misc-3.5.0-1.exe nxfonts-others-3.5.0-1.exe We at EPFL are still using "very old Unix applications" that require the use of these fonts. Session not terminated on server shutdown

Just noticed that an open x2go-session is not shut down when the server reboots. Instead, I get a timeout error from my client after 30s or something like that. Shouldn't the server terminate all open x2go sessions during shutdown? Server: 4.0.0.1-0~648 Client: 4.0.0.3 Christoph

X2go server behaving odd

L.S. Last week I have upgraded my desktop machine from debian-squeeze to debian-wheezy, this machine functions a my remote desktop server. After the upgrade it is no longer possible to have multiple sessions from multiple hosts for the same user open, if I connect from my laptop and create a new session, the existing running session from my home desktop machine gets removed. Is this known behaviour? KScreen in new Kubuntu conflicts with X2go

Hi Running x2go-server on Kubuntu 13.04 is problematic since it has the new (KDE) "intelligent" screen manager. It remembers the screen resolution and automatically sets it (It's nice for physical screens). This causes big problems when you start a session the first time(where I got an overly large resolution) and when going from a large to a small screen. It even remember the screen resolution between sessions - so no help logging in/out. The workaround for now is to remove the kscreen package - but in the longer run it needs to be fixed. I've filed a bug report in kscreen - but I don't know what will happen to it. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=319065 Pascal

Problems with Windows X2go Client

I wanted to try and figure what I was doing wrong with my Windows 7 X2go client. I installed 12.10 server base then did the console command to install Xubuntu. (So had all my server stuff and Desktop stuff) I installed the PPA for X2go. I had a prior X2go viewer installed. (On windows enterprise) I used the same ip address as the prior 12.04 with the exact setup. It says host key server changed and for security reasons it will not connect. I have uninstalled and deleted the .x2go in my "user directory" and the program files folder for X2go. I can not find were X2go viewer holds the old keys so I can delete them. Knowing this directory on my windows enterprise box would be great. I do not want to switch to NX or Tight VNC unless I really have to Kind Regards J. Pruitt

Mike I installed this before looking on the wiki for any documentation but when I looked I didn't find any. lightdm-remote-session-x2go appears to have installed ok but now the question is how to use it? Is there any configuration required after installation? opensuse 12.1 and firefox hangs

Hello, here are package versions on my opensuse 12.1 host. x2goserver 4.0.0.1-4.1 nxlibs and agent 3.0.5.20-3.2 First time I click on firefox menu It get hanged for 1 minute or so. Then it works normally but sometimes hang again. As I like light environements, I use LXDE as desktop I noticed this problem only with Firefox but it may be other libs issue. Any clue for this ? How do I remove the host key? This bug is quite annoying. Especially because it's easy to trigger and the prompt dialog doesn't explaint how to remove the existing key. http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=106 I already tried 'ssh-keygen -R [host]' with no effect. and according to the bug report this is not how it's done anymore... Runlevel 5 needed?

Hello everybody, in the installation instructions there is a remark that the server has to be run runlevel 5 to allow the X2Go server to accept connections. Why is it like this? Is the local XServer needed for operation? Is there an easy way to overcome this? Background of my question: I'm interested in using X2go in our system, but we had to switch to runlevel 3. Actually we use mainly VNC sessions for remote operation and these tended to hang up with a "local" XServer running on the server. Thank you very much. Best regards, Markus

Hello, I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and a GTX 680 (Driverversion: 304.48) The old x2go (3.) worked with different 304.xx versions. Anyone installed/used the new x2goplugin on Windows yet?

I was able to get the new x2goplugin working on linux with multiple different web browsers but the last I checked the x2go wiki was looking was still looking for input on how to install the x2goplugin on both Windows and Mac. Debugging tips?

I'm just starting to use x2go, and it has mostly worked great. But, I have run into problems where I connect to my server, get authenticated, but never get my application displayed. I can see the x2goagent process running on the server, but the app never displays. Creating a new user account and logging in with that has usually succeeded as a workaround. But, obviously that's not a solution. I'm sure there is a simple fix for this, like cleaning up some lost session data. But, my attempts thus far have failed. Are there any session debugging tips available? Or, pointers for where to look or how to enable more debugging output?

x2go with OS X and Proxy Server

Hi All: Has anyone been using x2go on OS X using the proxy server option? We can get things to go just fine from a Windows machine (we are using two ssh keys, and in authorized_keys on the server direct the connection from the proxy server to an internal one). However, when we try the same settings on the OS X x2go interface, the connection sits there and never gets passed a status of "connecting". Any help appreciated! Thanks, Ted

Hello, I use x2goclient to connect to a ubuntu 12.04 server machine with gnome installed. It worked well before I recently updated it. I remembered the updating related to ssh, and now I cannot connect it with x2goclient. I got a black window, and later x2goclient disconnected automatically. I tried x2goclient installed on a Win XP and Unbuntu 12.04. All failed. So the problem should be on the server side. The x2goserver/x2goclient are all the latest version. Current Mac x2goclients crash

I have attempted to run the 4.0.0.4 and 4.0.1.0 builds of x2goclient on my MacBook Pro (OS version 10.7.3). Both of them crash immediately on launch. When attempting to run from the command line I get illegal instruction 4. Unfortunately, I have not used a Mac long enough to know how to troubleshoot this (though I do have an extensive UNIX/BSD/Linux background) beyond the basics outlined below. For the 4.0.1.0 build, I have verified the md5 sum matches. I have the .dmg files for the 4.0.1.0 and 3.99.2.1 builds mounted. One thing I notice is that 4.0.x is significantly smaller than 3.99: /dev/disk1s2 50272 50272 0 100% /Volumes/x2goclient /dev/disk3s2 223104 188328 34776 85% /Volumes/x2goclient 3.99.2.1 Are the newer builds expected to be this much smaller? Unpacked, the entire dmg for 4.0.x is about 70MB smaller than the actual space used by 3.99.x, even with the dmg for 3.99 being somewhat bigger than the amount of space required.

One of our x2gousers is having problems where sometimes it seems to get stuck in a mode of connecting, the screen displays briefly, and then it exits (suspends). I've turned on debugging on the server but no error messages. x2golistsessions missing?

Finally got around to trying the install instructions for the latest x2goplugin: http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:advanced:x2goplugin No problem installing everything on server and client and on the client the web browser *does* present the normal x2go login screen but when attempting to login I get an error <http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:advanced:x2goplugin> * Connection failed sh: 1: x2golistsessions: not found* I can't find any mention of this error on the Wiki so I am not sure what is wrong The regular x2goclient and pyhoca work ok. Trying to check .. it seems like this x2golistsessions is supposed to be part of the x2goserver or the x2goserver-xsessions packages. But when I checked x2goserver on launchpad I did not see *x2golistsessions*listed ? brian * *

How to configure 'unattened-upgrades' on debian squeeze to upgrade x2go packages?

Dear all, I'd like to have all installed packages on my debian squeeze systems upgraded automatically whenever newer versions are available. For this, I utilize apt's 'unattended-upgrade' functionality and the corresponding package 'unattended- upgrades' (http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/unattended-upgrades) For most included apt sources this works flawlessly. However, I didn't manage yet to have 'unattended-upgrades' also pick up changes of X2Go packages. In the configuration file for 'unattended-upgrades' ('/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades') one has to identify 'Allowed- Origins' by an (origin, archive) duple (according to the comment): ----- /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades ----- // Automatically upgrade packages from these (origin, archive) pairs Unattended-Upgrade::Allowed-Origins { "${distro_id} stable"; "${distro_id} ${distro_codename}-security"; "X2Go stable"; }; [...] ----- /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades ----- For other sources I use field 'Origin:' from the Release file as 'origin', and filed 'Suite:' as 'archive'. Unfortunately, the X2Go Release file <http://packages.x2go.org/debian/dists/squeeze/InRelease> does not have a 'Suite:' field. I tried 'stable' (as shown above), 'squeeze' and '${distro_codename}', but none matches. In <http://wiki.debian.org/RepositoryFormat#A.22Release.22_files> I found this remark: "These fields are optional. They may be displayed to the user by package management tool or used for pinning. It is suggested that any repository published for other users to use fills meaningful information in these fields so that the user can tell apart different repositories. Description Origin Label Version Suite Codename" Would it be possible to add the 'Suite:' field to X2Go's Release files?
