Hello again, I have a server (UBUNTU 14.04) and a TCE with several thinclients. They are connected to the server by a separate network and get their IPs from the DHCP running on the (pxe)server. I know - on the server - to get the names of the (via x2go) logged in users but I need the IP address of the thinclient as well - means e.g.: bert - 192.168.0.50 eve - 192.168.0.51 a.s.o. Is there a (simple) way to get this info? No, I can't work with static IPs for the clients and my users are not always using the same client ... Thanks for any hint. Christian

Hello everybody, my scenario: in my company 6 colleagues are working in the same office building as I am and 2 are only working from their home office. We are all using the same server placed "out of sight" in an other building and are connected via x2go (TCE in the office) to the server. The server (running UBUNTU 14.04) is protected against power loss by an ups that is monitored via usb and NUT on the server. The problem is to send messages regarding critical conditions (e.g. power loss) to all - via x2go - connected users. This is necessary because the NUT NOTIFYCMD script starts a controlled shutdown sequence (putting several running virtual machines to safestate a.s.o. and finally shutting down the server) after 3 minutes running on battery. These messages are send by nut via wall automatically but this is not the way as none of the users has open a terminal - all are working under their LXDE/OpenBox GUI. As messages I use text files because this gives me the possibility (with zenity) to use html and the users finally see this popup: If someone is interested please feel free to use and test it. I would be very much interested if someone has a better / simple solution or would be thankful for every hint regarding the improvement of the code. For the time being I tested this not within the notifycmd script - I tested the interesting parts in a separate script (simulating the notifycmd / notifytype condition) within a test environment. Hi, I've used x2go on a number of systems without problem in the past, however on a CentOS7 server running SSSD to provide AD authentication I'm seeing clients (both Windows and Linux) just hang when trying to connect. Hello all, I don't know if someone knows SLITAZ (http://www.slitaz.org/en/) - it's an extreme small Linux OS build from scratch but with similarities to Debian / Ubuntu. It has it's own package manager but it is possible to convert .deb packages to SLITAZ-packages. I did this with - x2goclient_4.0.1.1-1~bpo7+1_i386.deb I could install this package and everything is looking fine - but: When I start a connection it is build up but than immediately closed. x2go with SSH two-factor authentication

Hi! My employer use two-factor authentication via Yubikey. Whenever I SSH to my development server, I use Kerberos to authenticate, and then it prompts for a Yubikey or Duo code. If I try to connect via the X2Go client, I get a message like this: Authentication failed. Check your GSSApi configuration or choose another authentication method. Checking the logs on the server, it looks like Kerberos auth is successful, but then X2Go is disconnecting once it receives the keyboard-interactive auth request. I managed to get it working using a super hacky method: I connect to my server via my regular SSH client, and forward some random port (eg. 1234) to localhost:22. Then I connect to localhost:1234 in X2Go, essentially tunneling a new SSH connection over the existing SSH connection. The server is configured to allow local connections to bypass two-factor auth, so this works around the issue in X2Go. It seems silly to tunnel SSH over SSH though. Any ideas on how to get this working properly with X2Go? It looks like Paramiko supports this configuration: https://github.com/paramiko/paramiko/pull/467 Thanks!

X2go extension questions

Hi, I am running x2go client 4.0.5.1 on a windows machine and connecting to a RedHat rhel 6 machine using x2go from the default yum repo. I am trying to create custom extensions for our local needs but am having some issues. Documentation is rather light on this so I hope you guys can shed some light? First, in the "fail" modalities: are these critical failures? Does the X2Go session in question survive a failure state? Next, I have written very simple extension shell scripts that just write the result of the "x2golistsessions" command to syslog and have put these extensions in each of the modality dirs. I have noticed that the "pre" & "post" "start" scripts do NOT report the process ID of the active session - the is an x2go "sessionID" but not a PID. When is the PID assigned? I have done a quick search through the source but it didn't jump out at me. Lastly, as mentioned above, I most often connect to a linux box from a windows desktop. I have had occasion to have the desktop -> linux connection going and then connect from a windows laptop into the same linux machine at the same time and as the same username. The two connections seem to get merged/confused. Is this normal? Dean...K...

problem with x2goagent and Sysv5 shared memory segments

Hi All, We have encountered a strange problem: x2goagent on the server would eat up all the System5 shared memory segments when running a particular Java GUI application. After that any other processes doing shared memory would naturally fail. When the user connects, everything is as usual; then when Java program is opened and starts working (dataset is loaded, some graphics based on it displayed, several threads started to process the data) it quickly uses over 4K of the shared memory segments. Problems with Clipman in Ubuntu 14.04

Hello everyone, I have a server running Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.2.0-41-generic x86_64) with XFCE4 desktop and LTSP for my ThinClients. When logged into the server via ThinClient / LTSP the Clipman-Plugin in the XFCE panel is working as expected. When I connect to this server via x2go (same user and tried it with different users) everything is working fine (sound / usb etc.) BUT not the Clipman-plugin. It's light grey and if I copy something this is not transferred to the clipman (copy and paste works but I have no history - the benefit of the plugin ...). I tried it with parcellite as well as clipit, glipper its always the same and I absolutely need this feature ... Does somebody know this problem / has a hint? Regards Christian -- C. X applications fail after su - on x2go connection

When I am connected to a Debian server through x2go, my X applications work. When I su - user2 then try any X application they don't work. For example emacs will start in terminal mode and java applications give errors such as java.lang.InternalError: Can't connect to X11 window server using ':52' as the value of the DISPLAY variable When I echo $DISPLAY before the su -, :52 is the correct display. I have several other machines that do not have this problem. How do I fix it so that X works through x2go after su -.

Hi I'm trying to use x2goclient with slackware. The client runs the configuration screen where you can setup your connections, and also connects to the x2goserver just fine. But, the "desktop" screen never appears after connection. I've also tried to compile the debian version of the package, and it also shows the exact same behavior. Any hints on what is happening here? I'll describe my scenario. 1) Linux : - I print Ok from my linux client 2) Mac - Impossible to show client printing pop-up 3) Windows - some of them shows the client pop-up printers but when I print to my local printer it do nothing. - some of them can't show Very strange. SSH agent forwarding with X2Go client

Hi, I know this has been asked long ago before but it seems there is still no SSH agent forwarding with X2Go client (I know it exists with PyHOCA but I prefer using X2Go client). Is it planned ? This would be a very interesting feature since I would prefer avoiding deploying my users private keys on their remote machine so that they can hop on other machines without password authentication (espacially with our gitlab server). I know there is a way to workaround this with the SSH proxy feature but that doesn't work well with Windows and my users are running X2Go client under Windows. Best regards. I use X2Go with Debian Linux Wheezy (server version: 4.1.0.0-0x2go1.1~git20160225.1310+wheezy.heuler.1, client version: 4.0.5.2-0x2go1~git20160504.1196+wheezy.heuler.1). All packages from X2go repository (http://packages.x2go.org/debian) It works fine, but I can't hear the sound local, it comes everytime on remote machine (on the x2go server). All settings are default, no changes. Is there anything I forgot do to? I tried this with Debian to Debian machines and with windows (7, x64) client to Debian server, same result. We recently moved a server to a new network and x2go is not longer working. The x2go client crashes too quickly to view or copy the error messages that occur before it fails. Want to set the Display number in X2GO client

Hi, I am new to x2go and for a testing I need to export the display of a centOS docker onto the x2go client. However, I am facing the issue is the Display number in the x2go client is changing as we connect onto the docker host IP with the specified username and password. So the DISPLAY variable set for the x2go server in the docker doesn't match with that of the x2go client and hence, it is giving the error "Error: cannot open display:". Can someone suggest me what I am doing wrong here or if there is any way by which we can set the display number to a specified value for a certain user or if we can make use of some other tool. Booting my thinclient I got boot menu: X2Go Thin Client Environment - Boot from local harddrive - X2Go Thin Client - memtest86+ (run memory test) Press [Tab] to edit options When I choose "X2Go Thin Client", it just only showing text mode login as below: Debian GNU/Linux 7 x2gothinclient tty1 x2gothinclient login: _ Do I possibly missed something in my config?

X2go on a tablet - options?

I want to travel light and still be able to connect "back home" via x2go if something needs my attention. I will be carrying an Android tablet, so it would be great if I could use that (along with an external mouse & keyboard). I see several options, but no clear indication of which is best: 1. Android with the work-in-progress client 2. Get a dual-boot tablet (Android/Win 10) and use x2go under Windows 10 3. Dual-boot with Android & Linux and run x2go under Linux I don't need sound or file sharing or printing, but I do need the setup to be reliable. Has anyone tried this? Cannot share a Windows folder

Hi. We have x2go running in our servers here, and sharing folders from windows have been working fine for me. One day --- perhaps after a few reboots --- it stopped working. From the x2go client I get no information. On the server I can only see this in /var/log/messages /usr/bin/x2gomountdirs[41899]: WARNING: insertion of /cygdrive/C/Users/N213A~1.WER/MYX2GO~1 failed (already mounted?), not mounting My ~/media/disk/_cygdrive_C_Users_XYZXYZXYZ/ is just empty. Any thoughts? How can I debug this? We do have another mount going, for the windows network shares at ~/media/disk/_cygdrive_/h/, that eventually works. It does take some time to run and I would also like to know how to make it faster... Thanks, ++nic

Hello x2go users, I'm quite new in administrating x2go and I'm trying to prevent users to shutdown/reboot/suspend/hibernate the system with XFCE 4.12. In a regular environment, one can enable kiosk mode by creating the file /etc/xdg/xfce4/kiosk/kioskrc and put in : [xfce4-session] CustomizeSplash=NONE CustomizeChooser=NONE CustomizeLogout=NONE CustomizeCompatibility=NONE Shutdown=NONE CustomizeSecurity=NONE However, it seems that xfce4 desktop bindings are not supported by x2go http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:advanced:desktopbindings and indeed when I log out I still have all the buttons available. Is there any trick to make it work ? Via polkit ? Or should I think to switch to a supported desktop environment (mate, lxde) ? Thanks for any answer. Greetings! I don't know exactly when a local XServer started being included in the Windows client, but I noticed recently that it's there. Is there a way to configure the port that this listens on? I know how to do it in things like MobaXterm, Cygwin, etc., but I don't see an option for doing this in the Windows X2Go client. Anyone have any thoughts? -- Kermit Short

Hello Is there any way to have logs with time stamp? It's hard to investigate problem when we are not able to see what happened when. Looking for cause of problems would we much simpler if we could note time when problem occurred and check what we have in logs at this time.

Issues running firefox 45.0.2 remotely with X2go

Hello: I have been using x2go for a couple of years now (great product), and I have run into an issue with the latest firefox 45.0.2 (archlinux x64) in the last week or so. Firefox opens for a few seconds then crashes. Running from a bash prompt results in the following output: [15311] ###!!! The x2go server is also archlinux x64, running Xfce4, with latest packages. x2go-agent is 3.5.0.32-2, x2goserver is 4.0.1.19-3. xorg-server is 1.18.3-1. When run on the console of the machine that I am using x2go-client to access, Firefox runs fine under Xfce4 and xwm. The latest Thunderbird works on console and on X2Go. Problem seems to be specifc to firefox 45.0.2 and running it in an X2Go session. Firefox 45.0.1 ran fine with X2Go, backleveling will be difficult as other libs will have to be rolled back as well. Google-Chrome works fine with X2go also. Is anyone else having this issue, or have any ideas on how to address this? Thanks, Rett Walters

Tab not working in x2go from OSX

It seems to affect all applications. Cannot insert tab in text, cannot tab complete in terminal. Alt+tab, control+tab, and command+tab all still work and register with the xserver. Has anyone seen this / solved this before? Hello, I have the following setup: An Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Server with: ii x2goagent 2:3.5.0.32-0~668~ubuntu16.04.1 all X2Go agent ii x2goserver 4.0.1.19-0~1064~ubuntu16.04.1 amd64 X2Go server daemon scripts ii x2goserver-extensions 4.0.1.19-0~1064~ubuntu16.04.1 all X2Go server daemon scripts (extensions) ii x2goserver-xsession 4.0.1.19-0~1064~ubuntu16.04.1 all X2Go server daemon scripts (Xsession runner) And an Arch Linux client with the x2go-client 4.0.5.1-2 Everytime when I try to connect on the Ubuntu 16.04 machine I get the following error: Connection failed. mesg: ttyname failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device When I do 'tty' on the server I get: /dev/pts/9 'mesg' returns: is n do you guys have any idea how I can fix this issue? it looks like a bug for me.. I have also another server with ubuntu 14.04 upgraded to ubuntu 16.04 and one another with CentOS 7... X2go-server is working fine there. Only 16.04 fresh install makes trouble for me. Hello, when I open an X2Go session to a terminal server running xubuntu or Ubuntu Mate NumLock is regularly turned off. When I turn it on in the X2Go session it toggles when I switch to an local window. How can I get rid of this behaviour and have NumLock initially on my X2Go session. Any help kindly welcome. X2Go Seamless Mode

Hello: I am trying to connect from Windows7 machine to Ubuntu (trusty) server. I will like to use X2Go in "seamless" mode ... meaning that if I start a single application, say xterm, on Ubuntu then I want only single xterm window to show up on my MSwin7 computer.Is that possible? X2Go website says it is a Remote Desktop program, but wikipedia says that you have seamless mode and your client also seam to allow it to attach to single application.If somebody can clarify upfront if this is possible or not ... it will save me a lot of time and effort. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

After upgrading Ubuntu 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.04, I can no longer connect using x2go. Trying to use either mate or kde, it appears to try to start and then aborts and goes back to the login prompt. Connection client <-> broker and broker <-> server is up till client disconnect from server or this connection exist only on time of creating connection between client and server? How many clients can be handled by broker in same time? Is it possible to use x2go for around 1k clients connected simultaneously when every one of them generate pretty big network traffic? Or should we consider other load balancing solution? Usage of how many x2go servers is recommended for this number of users? Greets, Gafi

Screensaver not kicking with MATE

Hi. I'm running MATE Desktop 1.12.1 on a CentOS 7.2 server, and access it using X2GO. Mostly everything is working great, except that the screensaver is not kicking. I have: > gsettings get org.mate.session idle-delay 1 > gsettings get org.mate.screensaver lock-enabled true But when loging in using X2GO, it looks like mate-session doesn't detect inactivity at all. Neither the screensaver, nor the locking works. I'm running this in a thin client setup, so screensaver/session locking is quite important. Anyone else have the same issue ? Hi All: I'm getting a printing error in an x2go instance that has worked for a long time, and am hoping to get some help. The error that shows up in the client side (windows) print window is: CUPS-X2GO Local Printer /usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-x2go failed The server where I'm running x2go ran out of disk space before a fix got done, and am wondering if that munged a key or set of files, as am guessing this is something to do with printing authentication (it's a single node x2go server and x2go printing). I've tried re-installing the x2go printing (cups-x2go, x2goserver-printing). I've copied in a "cupsd.conf" from another working instance.
