For some reason x2go seems to be blowing up randomly a lot today. Upcoming Deprecation of EOL Distributions

Hi In order to lower resource stress when building packages, I plan to deprecate support for distributions that have reached End Of Life on September 4th 2016. This includes the following distro versions: - Debian: o 6.0 "squeeze" - Fedora o 19 o 20 o 21 o 22 - OpenSuSE o 12.2 o 12.3 o 13.1 - SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (not Server!) o 11.2 o 11.3 After deprecation, no new builds will be published and existing builds will be deleted from the repositories to discourage users from installing unmaintained software. Hi! From my webcam (Microsoft lifecam 3000 HD) works under x2go TCE only the microphone, but no picture. I can also not check anything and come no further, since the webcam is not shown with lsusb in shell. (By the way, other USB devices are full not recognized, as my external hdd and a BlueRay drive. Now, I do have a recent use-case where I'd like to play-back video over x2go, and I came across the mTelePlayer project; I saw that there are Ubuntu packages in a PPA, but I am not totally sure how to set it up - when I just start mTelePlayer on my remote x2go desktop, it just gives me this message: "No Telekinesis local socket available at: <someDir> Is Telekinesis even running?" Now, I am not sure where I have to run what; on my x2go server, I installed mteleplayer, and then also both telekinesis-client and -server. I then further installed both telekinesis also on the machine I use as a client, and opened a new x2go session - still the same message. I searched around, but couldn't find any Howto/readme. Could you help me out with some short instructions? Thanks, Rudolf

Quick Launcher

I'm trying to add a quick launcher for someone on his desktop, a Windows system. Any pointers as to how to do this? When I try to add a launcher, it launches X2go and then he has to click further. I want a launcher that just logs him straight in. I've set up certificate based login.

Desktop does not resize

I'm having the exact same problem: http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/233163/how-to-fix-x2go-desktop-that… Except that I erased the .kde config, to start fresh and it did not improve the situation. I also specified 800 x 600 as window size, but x2go resizes the window without me asking to do so to full display size and it is still not enough to display everything, the task bar for example (kde) is off screen. I upgraded a machine to mint, did all the same thing as I've done on the Ubuntu systems but when I try to install x2goagent, it complains about the version of "nxagent". I tried upgrading nxagent, no help. Nightly Builds

Is there a nightly builds repository for Mint 18? Trying to figure out how to get things installed, it seems I've somehow managed to break perl with the upgrade from Mint 17 to 18. Cannot install X2goserver on Debian 8, stuck in dependency hell

I'm running into the same xrandr version issues with Mint 18 as I did with Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS and Fedora 24. x2go windows client fails to resume session

Hi Robert, 1. I updated the email subject to make it more clear. 2. For those who do not know, this is a reply to Robert's nx-libs 3.5.99.1 upgrade issue as listed in: http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1089 3. Software installer is the wrong tool for the job. "dpkg -i" does not work with apt repos. It also doesn't handle dependency resolution. 4. To add this apt repo on Ubuntu 16.04, you would create a file with a name like this: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nx-libs-beta.list ("nx-libs-beta" can differ. The folder path and the ".list" extension must be the same.) with these contents: deb http://packages.arctica-project.org/ubuntu xenial main You also run this command: wget -qO - http://packages.arctica-project.org/archive.key | sudo apt-key add - 5. To recover your system, I recommend the following: a. Run `apt-get update` b. Run `apt-cache search libnx` c. Uninstall all the libnx packages, such as by running: sudo apt-get purge <package-list> Note that this step (or the next one) will result in x2goclient and x2goserver being uninstalled. That should be OK, see step f. d. Also remove "nxproxy" if it is still installed. e. Add the nx-libs 3.5.99.1 repo from #4. f. Install x2goclient or x2goserver (+ any other client/server packages.) This should pull in nx-libs 3.5.99.1. 6. For those who are wondering why this upgrade issue can occur when using "dpkg -i" on all the nx-libs deb packages, it is because nx-libs 3.6 drops many of the X11 libraries that were part of nx-libs 3.5 in favor of the system's X11 libraries. Hello, I have my server on Argentina with about 20+ users. Now just trying to login from Moscow, latency is about 288ms. While speeds shows a 70/70Mbps upload/download testing with a server not far from here, against other in my country is much more than a 1Mbps. x2goclient refuses to connect "no data received from proxy". Hi -- What does the "Set display DPI" session preferences do? I have a new 4K high-dpi display (161 dpi) and I'm connecting to a remote X2go session. The window to the remote is small and any window I open in the remote has fonts scaled to 96 dpi, which makes them hard to read. Hello everyone, I use the emacs window manager EXWM on my remote computer whith lightdm. How can I create a session for emacs EXWM? I am using the x2goclient. I have tried custom desktop with the command "startx" and "/etc/x2go/xsession", I have also tried to run a single application session with path to .xinitrc. Problem running audio applications in TCE mode

Hi, I'm still struggling to make my TCE setup work correctly. I managed to fix about every bits here and there but there is still one important part that I can't get to fix which is managing audio applications to work in TCE mode. To be clear, what I call "TCE mode" is pxe booting an diskless station with x2gothinclient (per the doc setup with default settings, Debian wheezy based with heuler x2go client) When I open a X2Go session with a local x2go client on my Ubuntu laptop (or even with x2goclient under windows), no problem, I have sound with PulseAudio fully working, I can play videos on youtube, hear MP3s with totem or any other audio application. Running the same session with a TCE client works great until I want to hear a sound ... youtube videos are hanging with no sound, playing MP3s don't even start. Anything related to PulseAudio seems broken in TCE mode and this is very annoying to me because we'd like to deploy TCEs in my company to replace about 150 Windows PCs but this is for a call center so if audio is not working, this is a no go. I'm pretty sure this can be fixed with some PulseAudio configuration tuning but I must admit that I'm totally confused by PA and I don't understand a bit of the beast so any help would be gladly welcomed ! Using the Windows and Mac clients we’re getting this error connecting to a Fedora 24 server. Seem like a problem with the perl installation. Connection failed. /usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/local/lib64/perl5/auto/DBI/DBI.so: undefined symbol: Perl_xs_apiversion_bootcheck perl -v This is perl 5, version 22, subversion 2 (v5.22.2) built for x86_64-linux-thread-multi (with 17 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail) which perl /usr/bin/perl Seems like multiple installations. Any quick fix for this?

Puzzling stuff with Fedora 24 and x2go, it has the same issue as Ubuntu 16.04 with respect to xrandr being 1.2 and needing 1.3 (command line version is 1.5), yet it somehow manages to update the screen size anyway. Another problem, no /var/run/utmp entry made with x2go logins, not even if you open up a terminal. It allows me or other users to be completely invisible without examining processes. Both who and w return nothing. Trying to get x2go working properly from NoMachine

Hi All I am trying to get x2go working on a virtual (headless) OpenSuse 13.2 KDE server. I have used NoMachine in the past on a hardware Workstation with no issues. It starts the session and reconnects fine when the line drops. On the new server though the graphics are slow and on reconnect the colours on some applications are incorrect, (Eclipse - white on white isn't readable). I've pulled the latest x2go client for the Windows laptop and installed x2go via Yast. Now to side track a little. I mostly use this virtual desktop from my laptop which can have 3 possible monitor situations. 1)On own - smallish widescreen 2)With internal screen and single external monitor at 1280x1024 (external is Display 2) 3)With 2 external monitors - Display 1 is the 1280x1024 I want to use Sometimes I will pull laptop from docking station effectively switching to 1) above. Then put back and need the display to be handled appropriately. NoMachine player does very well. It seems to remember where I put the display and sends to the correct monitor, even on resume. Issues Using x2go client the fonts are too big. Nomachine and PyHoca-GUI get it right. Xlsfont on NoMachine and PyHoca show thousands of entries, x2go client has around 700. I installed the fonts with the application. X2go client crashes on resume. I create session OK, full screen on the 1280x1200 monitor. On resume it tries to open a smallish window and then the xserver crashes. The PyHoca does work as intended if I use "Maximise" but then the "window" takes over the monitor and I can't easily switch to other apps on that screen and back again. CTRL-ALT-M will let me access other apps but then it's hard to switch back. PyHoca full screen tries to use both screens on laptop - not what I want. Sometimes I can't resume. I get errors about nxproxy or no permission to display in error log. Then I usually have to go to server and manually remove old session files and try to get a new session. This hasn't been an issue so far but could be if I got disconnected while editing. I really hope to get x2go to work as it seems far quicker than NoMachine in this circumstance. But I do need it to be stable and reliable. Nomachine server 3 (last one with virtual desktops) has worked great. I can resume sessions in different resolutions and on different client machines and all my programmes are there, including remote apps throwing screens back to the "workstation". Dear list, since last night running 'aptitude update' gives an error on a machine with X2Go's Debian repository added: W: An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://packages.x2go.org jessie InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY F4A7678C9C6B0B2B According to http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:repositories:debian I would expect the file to be signed with key E1F958385BFE2B6E. Hi Jordan, Firefox 47 disabled XRender support by default. Go to about:settings and search for xrender, set the property to true. That made it a lot better for me. Hello, I use a web frontend for work that runs locally on my server over X2Go for about one year with success. Some months ago I noticed a significant decrease in performance when using Firefox. My server is running Ubuntu 16.04 with MATE desktop, Windows 10 client. Up to Firefox version 39.0.3 performance of loading pages, scrolling, browsing etc. was nearly flawless over a 5Mbit WAN link (with the exception of embedded video elements). However it seems the release of Firefox version 40.0 introduced some changes in rendering (see https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/40.0/releasenotes/) that do not play nice with X2Go. Further reduction in performance was noticed in versions 46.0 and 48.0. The current release (48.0) even has trouble rendering a plain text document without lag and choppiness. I have tried toggling various flags relating to graphics, compositing, rendering, etc. to no avail. To work around this problem the only solution I have found is to forward ports over a separate SSH tunnel and browse locally, but this is cumbersome to set up every time I need to connect. I have preferred Firefox to Chrome over X2Go because the latter has always been unusably slow; now they are both similarly choppy and slow. Has anyone else noticed this? How updated is the x2go browser plugin capability?

I see that there have been updates over the past year but its been a while (2+ yrs) since I last implemented & tried it. Also, keep waiting to hear more about mTeleplayer development. *pyhoca-cli* has the *--server* option to specify the IP of the target desktop server but using *x2goclient* from the CLI apparently *does not* provide that option ? is there a reason it doesn't or couldn't ? thanks Brian

x2go plasma 5 support

I'm using plasma 5 with x2go for remote sessions, knowing the glx 1.3 limitation for running plasmashell. I can use x2go for remote session with plasma 5, besides the crashes that happens with kdeinit after login and with plasmashell when trying logout. For solving the logout crash I terminate x2go session and remotely kill all the applications that haven't finished. Besides this login and logout problems, every other applications I use seems to work as expected. Since this is a bit annoying I ask the developers if it is expected x2go to support kde5? Thanks

'stty -tostop' in shell config file prevents X2Go connection

Hi, is the following a bug or expected behavior? stty -tostop is in user shell configuration file on remote machine. Local log on to remote machine is no problem. X2Go connection to remote machine cannot be established with error message: Error --- Connection failed. stty: 'standard input': Inappropriate ioctl for device stty: 'standard input': Inappropriate ioctl for device [OK] Removing the line was the only way to solve the issue. I tested with: - Bash and TCSH ${HOME}/.bashrc ${HOME}/.cshrc - X2Go server: x2goserver-4.0.1.19-11.fc24.x86_64 Fedora 24 x86_64 - X2Go client: x2goclient-4.0.5.1-1.fc24.x86_64 on Fedora 24 x86_64 and Mac OS X 10.10 -- Kind regards, René

Ubuntu 16.04.1

There is definitely a bug in x2go operating under Ubuntu 16.04.1. I upgraded a machine that was running Ubuntu 15.10. I have my x2go client configured to use display 1. Under 15.10, when I connected it did use my entire screen but I could still switch work spaces using control+alt+arrows as desired. After this same machine was upgraded to 16.04.1 LTS, when I connect it uses my whole screen locally but creates a window in it that is 600x800 or thereabouts of the remote machine instead of using the entire display. I changed nothing else when I did this upgrade. Problems with shared folders

Hi all I have installed x2go and so far it is working fine except two things: - automounting of shared folders - (auto)-mounting of client-local media After reading, searching and trying for some days now, I'm stuck and need help. Some details about the involved machines: Server: Xubuntu 16.04.1 on an ESXi (4GB RAM, 4vCPU, 30GB Disk) Clients: - HP t5540 thin client with lubuntu 16.04.1 on it - an older kubuntu (14 something) on a normal PC On all machines the current (stable) x2go version from the ppa is installed. In the session-settings, I configured a shared folder "media". I installed x2gousbmount to be able to mount an usb key on clientside. The users on the server are in the "fuse" group. After connecting to the session I can't find my local shared folder. X2Go Server and Ubuntu 16.04.1

I've got x2go on a number of Ubuntu 15.10 servers and no problem with them. I recently installed a new server with Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS and there is a nasty problem with it. On the client side, I select Display 1, on the 15.10 servers this fives me a full screen like the Full Screen selection except I can switch between workspaces on my local machine with control+alt+arrows. On 16.04.1 LTS instead of getting a full screen, it gives me a full black screen with a 600x800 window in the upper left into the 16.04.1 server. I know 16.04.1 made some changes to Xorg. I am using Mate for the desktop on both systems but on 15.10 I installed the Mate spin of Ubuntu, however, with 16.04 I used the Server install and then installed Mate after the fact. If I try to use System->Preferences->Hardware->Display it tells me that xrandr version is too old, says I need 1.3 and it is 1.2, however, xrandr says program version is 1.5 but server reports 1.2, where as in 15.10 this works properly.
