Hi everybody, I am trying to set-up an nginx server as http proxy for the x2go client. My x2go server is a VM on a private network 10.10.10.201. So far I have been using an ssh tunnel to reach the server from outside via ssh on the host. The host runs an nginx server that is connected to the internet. I would like to use nginx as the http proxy to the ssh instance running on the VM. However, when I set "Use proxy server for http connection" and put the host sshproxy.mydomain.com and port 80 in the client, I alwas get the error message: "Cannot connect to proxy server". Nginx does not show any access in the log. Hi This is a mass mail to all X2Go lists. During the past few weeks, I have upgraded the mailing list infrastructure from Mailman 2.1 to Mailman 3.0. All subscriptions and archived messages have been imported. Users will NOT need to resubscribe and will continue to get mails. Apologies for the long downtime, but especially the archive imports took weeks to complete and had to be done twice, since the backend used in the first run wasn't suited to the load and amount of data. Unfortunately, the machine is struggling with the load, and web UI operations sometimes take quite long to complete or even time out completely. Just try to refresh and retry the last operation if you see this happening. We will probably want to upgrade this machine in the future. I'll split this mail up into a user, an administrator and a technical part. Feel free to skip the parts that do not interest you. ************************ * USER-VISIBLE CHANGES * ************************ The old Mailman 2.1 infrastructure was quite basic - consisting of a mostly static HTML-based web interface and statically generated HTML pages for each message in the archives. By contrast, Mailman 3.x is much more complex. The web interface is more fancy and also uses Javascript, the archiver is a separate component known as Hyperkitty and everything is plugged together via a Python-based Django uwsgi web service communicating with an internal REST service. Most importantly, you will have to register to the Django-powered Postorius service to manage your subscriptions. Management is now centralized and you won't get password reminders every month for each individual list. To see a list of all public lists, head to https://lists.x2go.org/postorius/lists/ ( https://lists.x2go.org/ will redirect there). To create an account, use the "Sign Up" button/link in the upper right corner of the page. After you have created an account, you will be able to modify all your subscriptions in one place and all your subscriptions should show up automatically (provided the account you signed up for uses the same email address as your subscriptions). This includes setting digest options, pausing mail transfer, subscribing and unsubscribing. If you do not wish to create an account, you can still join or leave mailing lists by sending messages to nameoflist-join(a)lists.x2go.org or nameoflist-leave(a)lists.x2go.org. nameoflist-subscribe(a)lists.x2go.org and nameoflist-unsubscribe(a)lists.x2go.org are aliases that also work. In this case, you will, however, be unable to change other options. Archives can be found at https://lists.x2go.org/hyperkitty - note that if you're logged in to Postorius, you will also be automatically logged in to Hyperkitty. The archives for a list can also be reached by following the Archive link/button in Postorius's mailing list info page. In order not to break old links, the old archive is also still accessible at https://lists.x2go.org/pipermail/ - albeit in a read-only state that will not be updated any longer. I have added information to the index pages to reflect that. ************************** * ADMINISTRATION CHANGES * ************************** Mailman 3.x allows making users administrators or owners of lists, which can then change settings, tend to held messages and the like. Historically, in Mailman 2.1, administration was based upon a password. I have created a super user account named listadmins(a)lists.x2go.org with the known password. This user is owner of all lists and can be used to manage every aspect. As soon as you are logged in to an account that is either and administrator or owner of one or multiple lists, you can use Postorius ( https://lists.x2go.org/postorius/lists ) to manage settings, held messages and the like. Especially the "held message" interface deserves a bit of explanation. By default, 10 messages are shown per page. Each message can be selected/ticked individually or you can all select all messages in a page at once by using the checkbox left of "Subject" in the table header. Clicking the buttons "Accept", "Reject" or "Discard" will carry out the appropriate action on all selected messages. Note, however, that this will not add the sender to any of the auto-accept, auto-reject or auto-discard lists. In order to also add the sender of a message to a specific auto-action list, click on a message. A javascript-based popup will appear with the whole message text. The popup might not show up instantly, especially if the machine is slow, so please wait after clicking on message! If you get an error about the message not existing, refresh the page and retry. The popup includes two buttons at the bottom to show either the full source of the message or just the headers, which can be very handy. Above the "Rejection reason" text box, a "--- Set member moderation ---" drop down menu can be used to select the desired auto action (hold, reject, discard, accept or default processing). After setting this correctly, use any of the "Accept", "Reject" or "Discard" buttons below the text box to submit the result and carry out the desired action. Django has a special admin interface at https://lists.x2go.org/admin that can be used to manage data in Hyperkitty (the archiver), for instance to delete messages from the archive. Usually, you will not need to use this admin interface. ************************* * TECHNICAL INFORMATION * ************************* Unfortunately, Mailman 3.x is horribly broken by default in Ubuntu 24.04 (c.f., https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mailman-suite/+bug/2062960 and other bug reports). The mailman version is too old to be compatible with dependencies it needs, leading to a non-working setup out of the box. Upstream recommends installing mailman via a Python venv, but that would essentially decouple it from the system (and system updates), which I don't like. For this reason, I backported a lot of code to fix the Mailman 3 as installed via the distro packages. However, I've only done so purely on the file system and haven't created modified .deb packages. Please be extra careful when upgrading ymir and please don't update any packages related to Django, Mailman, Hyperkitty or Xapian! This will undo all of my changes and break the whole mailing list infrastructure. I plan on backporting newer versions from Debian Testing or Unstable to Ubuntu 24.04/noble in a proper .deb-based way, but that's not something I can easily do right away. Initially, I set up Mailman and Hyperkitty to use SQLite3 as its database backened, but that turned out to be excruciatingly slow. It's now using the PostgreSQL 16 backend, which works better, but also uses quite a bit of system memory, so the machine's swap space is always in use. When upgrading PostgreSQL in the future, the databases will also need to be migrated correctly. Hyperkitty can optionally use a full-text search engine to provide better search capabilities. Initially, I used Whoosh, but it turned out to be rather resource hungry and, unfortunately, also slow. We're now using Xapian with a fix for long terms, which unfortunately has not been applied upstream yet. ( https://github.com/notanumber/xapian-haystack/pull/238 ) I've enabled Markdown rendering mode in Hyperkitty for x2go-announcements, x2go-dev, x2go-user, x2go-user and x2go-i18n. This crashed badly on some mails yesterday, but should now fall back correctly to the basic text renderer in case of failures. Mihai

Hey, I've been using x2go under opensuse 15.5 and have been happy. Unfortunately it stopped working with 15.6. When I run x2gclient --debug &. snaps don't work on x2go

Hello! I'm currently testing x2go with a fresh install of Ubuntu on Proxmox. When accessing via x2go, many applications do not work, such as firefox and chromium. When you start the terminal you get the message /user.slice/user-1000.slice/session-401.scope is not a snap cgroup Same under Lubuntu. I found reports of similar problems via Google, all of which point to Snap, but I don't see or understand a proper solution. How do you use x2go with this problem? Greeting, Olaf

Problems with X2Go locking windows clipboard

I recently upgraded an LUbuntu 20.04 system with X2Go installed to LUbuntu 22.04. As part of that process, the X2Go server components got updated to 4.1.0.6-0~2023081 I don't know what version it was previously but it was at least 3 years ago that it was installed. Since then whenever I copy text in (e.g.) a bash terminal session on Linux system I am connected to, the Windows clipboard appears to get locked and I can't copy stuff from a Windows application to the clipboard. It either doesn't get copied or worse, the last text from the Linux system that was copied appears in the Windows clipboard. The X2Go Client on Windows is unchanged (4.1.2.2) Is there any fix for this? Thanks David

Can't connect to Ubuntu Desktop

Hi, I'd like to connect from a Windows 10 Box to an Ubuntu 22.04.5 Server. It does not work. Either a X2go windows appears for a few seconds and vanish afterwards, or a window appears saying "Something has gone wrong". Cant resume sessions X2Go + PostgreSQL

Hi there, I have a severe issue with x2go. There are 4 Servers (ubuntu 20.04) and a single PostgresQL Database running in Docker on a 5th device. It all started after noticing that some users couldn´t resume sessions, this seemed to spread to all users over several months. Restarting the Server fixed the issue short term, but is not an option to do frequently. Some things I noticed: 1. the users ~/.x2go gets filled up with references to /tmp/.x2go-<user>/<session-id> and ofc /tmp gets populated accordingly. Once a Session is closed, everything persists there. Since /tmp will be cleaned on a restart, I would assume some job would also delete these old references going to nowhere, but it does not happen. 2. While I can click the "suspend" button on the client, the session will not change on the server. Even manually running x2gosuspend-session <session-id> on the server via e.g. ssh and checking the status via x2golistsessions returns |R| for the session in question. 3. when suspending a session, I would expect it to create a folder in ~/.cache/sessions/xfce4-session-<servername:number>. It does not. If I try to connect to a still running (server side, but from client side "suspended") session, it will either prompt a wrong credentials error or continue normally, except no window will ever show up. Having a look at the database, I can see thousands of entries. Most of those sessions dont exist anymore, no user can connect to them, they are not shown using x2golistsessions. I thought I could simply delete them like shown in the wiki (https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:advanced:multi-node:x2goserver-pgsql?s[…) but it does not work. Trying to delete any entry will always result in DELETE 0. I hope someone has an Idea or that this is helpful in any way to debug and improve x2go. Best, Jooris

Hello! Some time ago after years of use I largely replaced x2go with LTSP because surfing in the browser was no longer practical. It jerked so much that we couldn't work with it. Is there a real solution for this now? Greeting, Olaf

x2go Windows client crashes with Putty Pageant with long RSA 4096 keys

Hello, I'm having a crash problem with latest version (also previous ones) with ssh private key authentication and Putty Pageant. Looks like there is a buffer overflow involved. With several smaller keys (e.g. ssh-ed25519) it works well. I found a scenario to reproduce it: 1. Generate a RSA 4096 Bit length private/public key pair 2. Load it on the Windows client into Putty Pageant 3. Put public key at the server at ~/.ssh/authorized_keys 4. open connection to the server => crash, see logs Looks like it is a bug in the old libssh library version with large private/public keys. Can you please fix the topic. Dear All, first of all: great software, we (a small educational organisation for trade union members) have been working with it for years. TL;DR: shared folders do not work, when I use the GUI to mount a share directory ~/media/disk/SHARE-NAME remains empty. Our Setup: * x2goserver on a computer behind a rounter with portforwarding and dyndns * x2goclient on a computer behind another router * both debian stable The connection from x2goclient to x2goserver works (I mean: I get my remote desktop and work there), but when I want to use/mount a shared folder, nothing happens. Hi All I have a question using Yubico Authenticator through an x2go session. I apologize for asking this question multiple times but I finally found the mailing list, so I'm posting the question here If the question had already been answered, in the libera chat, could the answer pls be reposted here? I'm interested in using FIDO2/ WebAuthn (with Yubico Authenticator in a remote machine (machine B), accessing the Yubikey plugged into the local machine (machine A) My Yubico Authenticator on machine B can access FIDO2 / WebAuthn of the Yubikey plugged into machine A, by using usbip, and if I am logged into the machine B's terminal directly But if I use x2go to remote from A to B, trying to use FIDO2 / WebAuthn on the remoted machine B to machine A's yubikey (connected using usbip) stops working So because it works successfully with usbip without the x2go session, but stops working with the x2go session connected, it seems like there's something about the x2go session to cause the FIDO2 / WebAuthn to stop working. And now I cannot connect, getting always this error message. I have read too many block post, mailing list messages (from this list, with similar title), and so on, with the same keywords, and nothing works. Some post are very old, like from 10 years ago, and yet I tried what was suggested. Looking for info in the web is now almost hopeless, all the links that appear are marked as already visited by me. Some LLM suggest basically the same thing (plus deleting ~/.x2go and things like that, and gues, do not work). I have tried changing nx-libs versions, x2goserver versions, deleting and recreating the data base, etc. Both ssh and ssh -X work. I really don't have a clue. Normally when x2go failed I just had to recompile perl-DBD... but this is a very different problem. I suspect is something related with permission with some magic cookie, but nothing appears in the logs that give some clue. I have played also with x2gstartagent and it fails with errors showing that /usr/lib64/x2go/libx2go-server-db-sqlite3-wrapper insertsession 50 sala29.salafis.net myuser-50-1732504908 failed, but I was not able to make it run or understand the problem, and sometimes it seems that this happens because I ran it remotely, using ssh, so no DISPLAY var was set. I really need some tip, gidance, help. Trouble with cut/paste

I've been having trouble with cut/paste. My local is Fedora41 running wayland/kde. Remote is Fedora40 running xfce. At random, but many times per day lately, I try to cut from the remote and paste on the local. If I paste into google chrome, chrome becomes hung and must be killed. If I paste into emacs I see "waiting for reply from selection owner". The problem isn't new, but recently has become much more frequent to the point of being not enjoyable. Any ideas?

Hello We are using X2Go client (4.1.2.2) in Windows 10 and 11 computers to contact Ubuntu 20.04 server (4.1.0.6-0~2023081). Some users get sometimes following error when launching session: Unable to create SSH tunnel for X2Go session (NX) startup: Error binding localhost:<port> I can't find any place where I could change the port number. Restarting client Windows computer does not help, restarting x2goserver.service in Ubuntu server does not help either. I have noticed that this error does not appear if x2goclient (4.1.2.4) installed on Windows computer's WSL (Ubuntu 20.04) is started. However, using X2go client through WSL is not good solution here as one can't share Windows directory through that. How should I proceed? Would it be possible to get 4.1.2.4 version to MS Windows also? BR, Kalle

Hi all, I got a debian machine with XFCE (window compositor disabled) I access from both a Ubuntu 22.04 machine (XFCE, here, too, tried disabling the compositor) and Windows 10. From Windows 10 it's reasonably ok, but from the Ubuntu/XFCE screen refresh lags like Wing Commander II on a 286. How come?

Hello, I’m using X2Go 4.1.2.2 to access a Linux server from a Windows 11 client. When I open an X2Go session, the Windows clipboard behaves erratically. It works a few times, but then copy and paste becomes impossible. This issue occurs with Windows to X2Go, X2Go to Windows, and even Windows to Windows. The normal clipboard functions return as soon as I close the X2Go window. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you.

Dear X2Go Support Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek assistance with an authentication issue I am experiencing with the X2Go client on my Windows machine. I am using X2Go Client to enter a linux server using SSH key authentication. However, I encountered an issue where, after providing my SSH key passphrase and successfully logging in, I was prompted for a password once more. This second prompt seems unnecessary, as I am using key-based authentication that works flawlessly through the Command Prompt. SSH keys are for passwordless login in servers. The command I am using through Command Prompt is "ssh username@ipaddress" and it works just as fine, without asking for an extra password (just the passphrase). Could you help me with this? Hello! I have server on debian based image, launched in domain controller (Active Directory) via IPA . I'm using x2go for published apps and if I login via local user - everything works just fine! If I use domain account for connecting via x2go client - error occures "chmod: cannot get access to file '~DOMAINNAMEuser_name/.x2go/ssh/key.M15508': there is no such file or catalog" Right before connecting - there is indeed no such file in that directory, but after this error - file generating anyway and everything works just fine! Question is : How I can prevent occurrence of this error ? Thanks!

Hello One of my colleagues is having the following error message, when trying to open connection from Windows 11 client version 4.1.2.2 to Ubuntu 20.04 server. Title: Authentication failed. <ip>:<port> - Verifying that server is a known host: base64 error I asked ChatGPT and it instructed to remove C:\Users\<username>\.ssh\known_hosts file. That file was removed, but it did not help. The next ChatGPT instructed was to remove this key from Windows registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY\SshHostKeys There was no such key. User removed the X2go installation and installed it again, no help. This same Ubuntu 20.04 server is used by other users without any problems. How to proceed from here? Thanks, Kalle

I have found a bug and workaround in x2goclient on MacOS Sequoia. I am trying to raise report/this but where? The official wiki advice <https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:bugs> suggests applying to join the GitLab org - I've applied but I have to wait for admin approval. There's an IRC/Matrix channel <https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/contact:start>where it was suggested I also join the mailing list. The bugs mailing list <https://lists.x2go.org/listinfo/x2go-bugs> does not appear to have been active for a decade <https://lists.x2go.org/listinfo/x2go-bugs> although I have subscribed. A kind soul on IRC suggested also joining this mailing list but I am not sure that this is the right place to raise a bug report. Without meaning to be rude about a great software project, the situation does seem a bit ridiculous. I run my own (much, much smaller) open source project onGitHub and if people want to raise an issue then they can just do that, ditto me for many of the other open source software projects I use. It's unfortunate that there isn't a clear and straightforward way here. If anyone is able to comment on the correct route to raise an issue/bug then I should be grateful, thanks Joshua

suspend does not work anymore in 4.1.0.6 Debian

Hello list, This is an older problem I sent to this list a few months ago IIRC. I have two Debian versions which I run in Debian Trixie (Testing): 4.1.0.3-7+deb12u1 4.1.0.6-1.1+b1 The 4.1.0.6-1.1+b1 version is the actual version in Debian Trixie. The 4.1.0.3-7+deb12u1 version is about a year old. What happened: When upgrading to 4.1.0.6-1.1+b1 session suspend does not work anymore. When I suspend the session, the GUI says "suspending" and finally shows "suspended". When resuming, no screen appears and when retrying to connect, the GUI says "session already running, to forcefully resume it, suspend it first" Downgrading to 4.1.0.3-7+deb12u1 resolves the issue. troubleshooting regolith 3 startup on ubuntu

Howdy, folks. I'm having inconsistent problems getting sessions to start on an Ubuntu 22.04 box. XFCE4 is always my smoketest but I daily Regolith 3 wherever possible. XFCE4 is working fine everywhere and R3 has been fine over x2go on various Debian, Pop_OS!, and even other Ubuntu versions but I have one 22.04 box where I get a black x2go session screen for just a few seconds and then it exits. Running the client in debug mode shows that it looks like it might be a voluntary disconnect from the x2go/SSH client side and a few other forums suggest its possible related to the following: Activated service 'org.freedesktop.systemd1' failed: Process org.freedesktop.systemd1 exited with status 1\ndbus-daemon from the client side debug logs. I don't see the list archives available in any search engines but perhaps someone either has experience with similar problems and can chime in or can find threads of similar problems in their MUA cache and can point me to the proper month's archive? thx

x2go glx issue in Ubuntu 22.04

Hello, Worked with x2go and Ubuntu 20.04 with no issues with glx. Commands such as glxinfo glxgears worked. Using a Dell Poweredege Server, we have installed 22.04 and now commans like glxinfo, glxgears do not work connecting remotely to the server using x2goclient glxinfo name of display: :50 Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig glxgears Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual Mesa 22.0 and higher seems to be the issue. Reading online, Ubuntu 22.04 no longer supports 'classic drivers' any longer. However, there is a 'mesa-amber' that could potentially resolve this? Has anyone had any success using mesa-amber and getting commands like glxinfo, glxgears to work in Ubuntu 22.04? I tried the suggested downgrading to Mesa 21 and that just opened up another can worms with dependency issues. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, h.

Hi, I want to be able to give remote support via deskstop sharing over the internet. I have set up a linux computer for a friend. Now I want to be able to see and interact with his desktop while we are both sitting at our homes. Is this possible with x2go? x2go Dropping keystrokes?

Setup - Linux server, Windows 10 client, LAN or 40G remote connection I have tried many different options in the connection setup with regards Connection options to no avail. I find that some keystrokes seem to have a higher incidence of being dropped or ignored while using the x2go connection. 'c', spaces, and a few others seem to fail to propagate thru the connection. It is not a mechanical keyboard issue, as I have tried several different keyboards and they all act the same. Connection does not seem to matter as some of the time I am using the client on a local LAN and others via a remote VPN connection. Anyone else ever seen this behavior? Hi all, I am using x2go to connect from a Fedora 39 machine to an RHEL8 server but somewhere in the last month and a half or so the shared folders stopped working. Unfortunately, I wasn't around between where it was still working and when I found it no longer working earlier this week so I'm not sure what update happened that broke it. What's even more weird is that the spool DOES mount and works just fine but the shared folders are noping out, and I believe they use the same mechanism ? The only real error I'm seeing is on the client: 'rexec line 2: Deprecated option UsePrivilegeSeparation' which appears to be something that's been warned about a few years ago how it might completely break things at some point in the future ? Not sure if this is the culprit though as it is Deprecated and not Error. Client is fully updated FC39 X2Go Client v. 4.1.2.2 (Qt - 5.15.13) Server is RHEL 8.10 and has 4.1.0.3-17.el8.1.noarch for the x2go rpm's. KDE is being used by both client and server and only official packages are in use. grab keyboard (dwm)

Hi, I'm testing out x2go, so far so good. Seems to work better for full session setups then xpra (I didn't test rustdesk yet). I was wondering how the session could 'grab the keyboard'. I'm using a tiling wm, dwm, which is keyboard / keybindings based. My client machine also runs dwm and currently it is that dwm who is picking up the keybindings. How can I make the x2go session react on the dwm keybinding and how to switch between those (like you can in a virtual machine afaik). Thanks in advance, /s

Hi, I can't troubleshoot this issue. I have removed X2goclient from the Debian Stable (Bookworm) install, including all config, but when installing it fresh, it still does crash with a Segsev, is this bug known? I can't use X2go anymore on Linux, it just fails, without a way to find out what breaks. This issue has blocked me for many months now, it works on Windows, but most of my machines are running Linux. Anybody have an idea what I can try next? ssh connection through bastion host

Hi, I am trying to connect with the Mac x2goclient (v4.1.2.2) through a bastion host*, essentially as a version of the openssh '-J' option. My setup in ~/.ssh/config works for ssh, but it looks like the x2go client (libssh? Where is that in the source tree?) does not look at config. With an ssh proxy connection configured in x2go, I can see a login on the bastion host, but nothing on the target machine. And what logs x2go has are too quickly replaced by a user/passwd login screen to be readable. How can I have the x2go client log to a file? How to change X2Go MaxClient setting?

1) Maximum number of clients reached So, I'm one of those users that have a lot windows and applications open at the same time for a long period of time. So I reach very easily the default Xorg 256 limit and when I try to open a new Xorg program I get the following error: Maximum number of clients reached . As per a quick search in a local system with Xorg this would be fixed by adding a file changing this limit to either 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 or 2048. Something like: printf 'Section "ServerFlags"\n\tOption "MaxClients" "512"\nEndSection\n' \ > /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-maxclients.conf and then restarting the Xorg server. 2) X2Go - And Xorg conf files As I am using X2Go I know that I'm not dealing with the usual Xorg server but with an improved one based on older Xorg upstream releases. I was expecting to find an /etc/something/xorg.conf.d/ where I could create a similar .conf but I haven't found any of this. At least, not explicitly documented. If I'm being honest I'm not very sure if it's nxagent, nxproxy or x2agent the one process which it's an actual Xorg server. 3) How to change MaxClients for X2Go? So my question is: - Can I change MaxClients with a conf file or do I have to recompile some program/library ? - If so Where do I create that conf file? 4) X2Go / Library versions This is Debian 12 (Bookworm) using distro's own packages. I also have old .list file disabled. So that means that in the past I used the http://packages.x2go.org/debian repo. Dear $ALL, As stated in the subject line, X2Go: The Gathering 2024 will take place at Linuxhotel, Essen, Germany, from Friday afternoon, 2024-06-28, to Sunday afternoon/evening, 2024-06-30 and will, again, be a three-day "work and play" (coding, chatting, sightseeing, socializing) event. X2Go: The Gathering is the annual event where users, admins, and developers (including the i18n volunteers) of X2Go meet face to face, to discuss current X2Go-related issues, fix open bugs, and have a good time getting to know each other. As there is some overlap between X2Go, Arctica, and orca e.V., you can expect to see members of those groups as well. After 4 years spent "in exile" (with a skeleton crew of volunteers meeting at shackspace in 2020, and going completely virtual in the years 2021-2023) due to the pandemic situation, we are finally returning to a full real-life event at Linuxhotel (though we will be streaming/recording our sessions, so you can join in remotely as well). Note that while we do not require masks to be worn, it is still recommended and endorsed, especially in indoor areas. At the time of writing this invitation, and using some educated guesses regarding under-reporting and wastewater analysis, Covid infection rate in Germany is roughly somewhere between 1 out of 1000 and 1 out of 500 people per week. *ATTENTION!* If you want to join us *and* want to sleep in one of the hotel rooms at the Linuxhotel, we need the number of beds and nights you want to reserve, as well as *your full name* (as printed on your passport) and *your nationality* by *2024-06-07* *23:59:59* *CEST*!!! x2go for wayland

I'm curious if there will be something like x2go for wayland. I've been playing with waypipe. It does appear to at least work for allowing a remote application running on wayland to be used on my local machine. Not sure if it performs as well on low-bandwidth connections as x2go using NX, but at least seems usable in some limited testing. What's missing is persistent sessions and remote desktop. While waypipe allows running a remote app, it doesn't AFAIK allow a remote desktop, nor persistence. A bit of googling found nothing useful. Anyone know if there is work in this area? Thanks, Neal

Hello, My idea to use X2GO in corp environment on linux & windoze, and I have complain about possible miss-configuration or "accidental settings" of client setting by users. There is any existing solution to lock client settings (all settings) by users? For example make connection, configuration setting to set ready only/dimmed-grayed out exempt someone who have admin rights? any advise, suggestion welcome thanks George Urbanovits

How to Pass SSH Options From X2goclient?

Due to reasons too sad to describe, I need to X2go from a modern Fedora 40 system to a Ubuntu 10.04 (!) system. Running ssh from the command line fails with the message Unable to negotiate with XX.XX.XX.XX port 22: no matching host key type found. Their offer: ssh-rsa,ssh-dss After some work I got this to work by adding -oHostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-rsa -oPubkeyAcceptedAlgorithms=+ssh-rsa to the ssh command line. My question is how can I add these options to the ssh command that X2go executes on the client? Cordially, Jon Forrest

Lots of artifacts with deb12 server

Hi all, getting a lot of artifacts on a machine I upgraded from deb11+x2go repos server packages to deb12+x2go distro packages. (v4.1.0.3-7). I though about going for x2go repos, but deb12/bookworm isn't mentioned, should I go for the x2go repos or stick to the deb packages? Client is Ubuntu 22.04LTS with v4.1.2.2 which has worked alright for various x2go servers so far. Server hardware changed, too, before was Ryzen 3000, now is intel N100 in case that matters. Connection settings are LAN plus default compression method 16m-jpeg, tried 2m-jpeg, too. (Too many options btw or too little explanation on differences) Appreciate any advice.

Mounting USB drives in remote computer

Hello I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 with LXQt (i.e., Lubuntu) on the remote computer. When I'm using the computer locally and plug in an USB drive, It will be automatically mounted and shown in file explorer. But when I'm using the computer remotely, I'll just get a prompt saying "Error: Not authorized to perform operation" Could someone help me to configure the remote computer so that when I plug in an USB drive, it would behave as I would use the computer locally? Missing fonts

Hi, I'm trying to use software called MB-System over X2Go but I seem to be missing fonts. Is there a way I can add these? -misc-fixed-bold-r-normal-13-120-75-75-c-70-iso8859-1 -misc-fixed-bold-r-normal-13-125-75-75-c-70-iso8859-1 MBSystem dependencies need XFonts-100 and I made sure to install every font option when installing X2Go.
