Sound inside virtual machine?

Hello everybody. x2goserver auf SLES11: Authentification Problem

Hi, i've installed x2go on a SLES11 from this source: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/RemoteDesktop:/x2go/SLE_11/ I've started the server with /etc/init.d/x2goserver start and try to connect with my client (QT) but i get this message: "Authentication failed" - "Access denied. Authentication that can continue: publickey,keyboard-interactive" I can ssh to this server and this works. Is there any configuration file, where a could setup some settings ? No login after upgrade

Hello, Great that it seems to be clear now why sometimes session are lost. I've upgraded to the latest version of X2go, but after the upgrade I cannot login anymore. I've removed x2go completely with a --purge and reinstalled it again. But it's not possible to login, hmmm. In /etc/group there is no group "x2gousers" anymore. Maybe I don't know how to add a user, but I don't find documentation about how to add a user on the wiki. X2go Printing to x2goclient's printer

Greetings, I'm trying to get x2go to print to the x2goclient's printer. I have Ubuntu 10.04 on my server, I'm hooked into the PPA's: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/x2go/ppa/ubuntu lucid main I've followed the instructions on the wiki: http://wiki.x2go.org/wiki:components:printing I have these installed: cups-x2go: 3.0.0.4 x2goserver: 3.0.99.8 x2goserver-extensions: 3.0.99.8 x2goserver-printing: 3.0.99.8 My cups localhost:631 page says it's version 1.4.3 I have the "Generic X2Go Printer" device installed in my print queue. I have not edited my /etc/cups/cups-x2go.conf file. I have Ubuntu 11.04 on my client machine, it has x2goclient 3.99.0.2 (Qt - 4.7.2) (hooked into the PPA's at the same place as the server but for natty - deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/x2go/ppa/ubuntu natty main) I'm wondering how do I troubleshoot printing issues? When I do print, it seems to send it looks like it sent fine from the server, but the client doesn't do anything. So far, it looks like I've had to install 'xpdf' which wasn't mentioned on the wiki.. but I don't know if this is for sure, because it didn't resolve any problems, but before this I would get an error message saying 'xpdf' was missing. Otherwise, I can print fine to the printer locally. If you need more information let me know. Thanks, Andy

I found the problem... please ignore my request! x2goclient settings -> printing tab -> select "Print" Looks like xpdf still doesn't come up but that is another concern and I will not bother the list about this. X2Go mailing lists probably staying at BerliOS

Hi all, just a short notice on our mailing list hoster BerliOS... It very much looks like it that the BerliOS OSS development portal (www.berlios.de) will be continued beyond Dec 2011. The logistical and monetary infrastructure behind the BerliOS portal is currently moved from a research project to an NGO organizational form and from my perspective the chances are rather high that in the future the X2Go mailing list hosting on the BerliOS mail server(s) can also be continued. If this turns out to be different we will let you know ASAP, currently, however, no action (mailing list migration) seems to be necessary. We'll keep you posted!!! Usability with latency ~200ms

Hi, we are trying to use X2Go to provide a devolpment environment for our employees in India. The problem is that the connection to India is really bad (latency ~200ms) and so working with X2Go is currently not possible. Is there a way to improve the performance on the X2Go client/server configuration? Does anybody have experience with such a szenario? Please help. LAN connection slow

Hi, the x2go clients offer LAN as the fastest connection type. Though we have a gigabit Lan here, this connection type is much slower than DSL or WAN. How comes? Regards, Ralph

Hello x2go mac os lion users, here is a workaround for using x2go client on os x lion: 1. Download and install OpenNX Client for Mac. (http://sourceforge.net/projects/opennx/) 2. Inside the opennx...dmg right click the OpenNX.pkg and click "show package content" 3. Doubleclick Contents/Archive.pax.gz 4. Go inside Archive/Library/OpenNX 5. Copy "bin" + "lib" + "share" to your clipboard (cmd-c) 6. Go to your x2goclient.app 7. Right click the x2goclient.app and click "show package content" 8. Go to "Contents" folder 9. NX workaround packages, temporarily SOLVES: crashing X2Go sessions

Dear all, (resending this mail to x2go-user, x2go-dev, corrected mail address of announcement list, fixed minor inaccuracies of the first version sent to the lists) as many of you have reported, there are major issues with the version of NoMachine's NX libraries that are currently provided on packages.x2go.org and in X2Go's Ubuntu Launchpad. The occurring crashes of X2Go sessions do not relate to the code itself but to the way the code (from X2Go Git) currently is built (i.e. compiled and packaged). Only five weeks ago, Alex, Reinhard and Mike could narrow the problems down to the build method being used. The issues probably also apply to the way other NX related projects build their (Debian-ic) packages. So, if anyone needs more details on this, feel free to contact us on this list. As a matter of fact, we currently can't consider the available NX libraries provided on packages.x2go.org (with obvious effect on x2goagent) as ,,stable'' at all; session crashes can easily be reproduced on various setups. Certain actions within the X2Go session cause naughty reconnect or disconnect messages for the client user and many times the sessions die seemingly without reason. This problem is due to NX libraries being built against the distribution's X server development files and not against the development files of nx-X11 (Xserver provided by NoMachine). Unfortunately, the former build method, however, has been state-of-the-art for the Debian-like packages ever since. We are working on a new way of building those packages, see below. As there have been many complaints we'll respond by offering intermediate packages that do not contain these problems. However, these packages have been built in a non-Debian state-of-the-art way and the solution provided from us is only a temporary workaround until we have solved the package build method for these packages. Alex has built packages using a non-Git based build environment, one we used before we changed to working with Git. The provided packages have the same package names as found in Git, they also have a slightly higher version number so your systems will upgrade easily if you use the ,,workaround'' package set: libxcomp3 libxcompext3 libxcompshad3 These new packages should do their job well, as we can't reproduce the reported crashes with them anymore. Currently, we are working with high pressure on cleanly-built NX packages (see: Git project nx-libs.git, test branch, also x2goagent.git, test branch), so that we can provide Git based NX packages soon again. DEBIAN ====== If you want to use those packages on Debian, please make sure that you have deb http://packages.x2go.org/debain squeeze main (or wheezy main, sid main) as package source configured in your APT system. If that is the case simply upgrade the above named packages and then you should get the workaround NX packages installed. $ apt-get update $ apt-get install libxcomp3 libxcompext3 libxcompshad3 If encountering errors during installation, also make sure to uninstall all development packages around NX libs before upgrading to the workaround package set: $ apt-get remove libxcomp-dev libxcompshad-dev libxcompext-dev $ apt-get remove libxcomp3-dbg libxcompshad3-dbg libxcompext3-dbg We'll keep the NX workaround packages in the "main" area of our Debian repos as long as needed. no session resume

Hello, I'm using the x2goserver (latest version) on a virtual xen machine running an LMDE desktop. The strange behavior is that the x2go sessions are never resumed but whenever I login, a new session is created and all programs have to be started again. The client is a Windows XP PC, and it makes no difference whether I use the windows client or the pyhoca gui to connect. Can anybody tell me what is going wrong here? Regards, Ralph

Hi all, I'm trying to (re)migrate our thin clients (Intel Atom 1.6 GHz) from plain X11/XDMCP to x2go again using the latestet Debian Packages (Squeeze). First of all I wonder about the recommended compression mode and level. With link type LAN and compression nopack I experience heavy CPU usage on the (thin) client side (20% Xorg and 30% x2goclient) while reading mails and even more latency than I experienced with plain X11 before. Documentation needed and error

hi there, i want to use x2go on a sles11 and opensuse 11.4 system. I've installed it from repositories but now i need a documentation how to configure x2go. Is there anything ? I get an erro if i try to connect from my client to the server: Verbindung fehlgeschlagen Schreibfehler: /home/username/.x2go/ssh/socaskpassFGIS4V But this file would be randomized created so it won't work to "touch" it. Next file could be named "socaskpassHSDF6K" Foldersettings are 700 Are there some spezial settings for running x2goclient_gtk ? what to do here ? regards sebastian

First thought is: checkout why there is a write error on the given file. (disk full, permissions, is the folder /home/username/.x2go/ssh being created?) Support for extra mouse buttons?

Hello. I have a mouse with 5 buttons (left, right, wheel click, and two thumb buttons) and a scroll wheel on my Windows machine that runs x2goclient v3.99.0.1 under Windows 7 Pro x64, and I use it to connect to a Xubuntu 11.10 x64 machine running x2goserver 3.0.99.7-0~352~oneiric1 from the x2go stable PPA. I noticed that the 3 main buttons and scroll wheel work fine, but the two thumb buttons seem to do nothing. When I use Xubuntu locally on my laptop with a 5-button mouse, the thumb buttons act like the back/forward buttons in Firefox, but they do nothing in Firefox on my headless workstation over x2go. I've noticed that most VNC software on any platform(s) suffers from this as well, while RDP usually supports those extra buttons. Is there a hack that I can employ to get this working, or (even better) could x2go possibly be enhanced to support this by default? Thanks, - Ben S.

Single applications client fail to start up

Hi All, Both on server and client I use deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/x2go/ppa/ubuntu oneiric main Normal full desktops clients running fine but all single applications fail to run. The connection is build up but the client window will not show up. Pyhoca-gui always fail to start the window both desktops and single applications (the connection builds up and is running) What can be the problem? looking at my previous mentioned problem, is the oneiric version running OK? for people at all? or is it my instalation? I have a problem in sharing a client directory to the server instance, mounting fails both on server and client I use deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/x2go/ppa/ubuntu oneiric main openssh 1:5.8p1-7ubuntu1 (Dis)Connection to the server is going fine (not always) but when I share a local directory the remote desktop is working but the mount always fails mentioned in the syslog. x2go Mac Client: cannot connect to multiple servers at the same time

Hi, with the standard Mac OSX client, I find that it does not allow opening more than one connection (to multiple servers) at the same time. Failure - Server Key

Just reinstalled Debian on the backup server, but now can't get into it with x2go. Gives a popup that says, "The host key for this server was not found but an othertype of key exists.An attacker might change the default server key toconfuse your client into thinking the key does not exist." Doing a search, no one seems to have had this problem before. Any ideas?

Forward USB using USB IP

Hi x2go folks, this topic already last year: http://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/x2go-dev/2010-September/001087.html Recent linux kernel provide support for USB forwarding over IP (kernel config: CONFIG_USB_IP_COMMON/CONFIG_USB_IP_HOST). Has anyone tried to make use of this feature in conjunction with x2go? Of course xygo *does* provide support for usb mass storage and printers. But usbip appears to be a low level devices driver that should support almost any device types. Integration with x2go should not be too hard as x2go already supports secure portforward/tunneling which is required by usbib (in untrusted environments).
