X2Go and systemd: printing fails silently

Hello, at least on Arch linux, the default systemd unit file for cups.service includes the directive "PrivateTmp=true", which causes x2goprint to silently fail since the file manipulations normally done in /tmp/.x2go-$user/spool/ are partially carried out in /tmp/systemd-private-blabla/.x2go-$user/spool and never get to the client's SSHFS'ed dir. I am not expert in systemd and do know know if the "sandboxing" for cups is Arch specific. SSH Proxy for OS X interface

Just downloaded latest client for OS X, but don't see the Proxy server option. - Is this for windows only at present? RHEL6 package should create /tmp/.X11-unix directory

Hi all, After much hunting I found what the problem was runnung x2goserver on a freshly installed server. Apparently X2Go requires the /tmp/.X11-unix directory to exist with permissions 1777. Could you please see to it the creation of this directory and the permissions settings are performed by teh x2goserver package. Thanks, Burnce

Admintools and client-session-administration

Hello! We are extensively using X2go, and are very happy, that this solution exist. A we have several computers which can hold x2go sessions, it becomes more vital to administer these sessions from a central point. Of course there are x2golistsessions, x2goterminate-session and so on but would it be nice to have a simple GUI or at least a little bit more readable terminal-output? Also: The x2goclient doesn't seem to have a gui-part to administer suspended and running sessions. This for example would made it much easier to handle your running sessions. Especially, if you are using several different servers (This is all without the thinclient-environment in mind!) best regards Jochen

Package missing in the redhat repo: perl-File-BaseDir

Hello, I have installed a recent version of x2goserver on a redhat machine and came across a dependency problem. It turns out that the package "perl-File-BaseDir" is a required dependency, but it is present neither in the official redhat repos, nor in the opensuse hosted RHEL6 repo. Could you please add it? Q: Command Field in GUI & Way to use SSH config file?

Hi All: We had a couple of quick questions: 1) Command Field in GUI: In the x2go GUI there is a "Command:" field. What is this for? It does not seem to be accessible if Gnome or KDE are selected. 2) Config File Does x2go use the ssh config file? If not, is there a way to get it to do so? Configurable keybindings for x2go(agent)

Hello, NX annoyingly adds hardcoded keybindings which overlap with e.g. GNOME's. Where in GNOME, Ctrl-Alt-t opens a new terminal, in NX and therefore in x2go, it closes the session. Therefore I hacked together configurable keybinding support for nxagent/x2goagent as described here: http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:components:nxagent_keyboard_shortcuts Currently this is experimental, so please test and report bugs, if there are no major breakages, you can expect it for version 3.5.0.17. X2go was working a while back, but now when I boot the client I just get a blank screen and this message: NXPROXY - Version 3.5.0 Copyright (C) 2001, 2010 NoMachine. See http://www.nomachine.com/ for more information. Info: Proxy running in client mode with pid '3476'. Session: Starting session at 'Sat Dec 15 09:56:54 2012'. Info: Connecting to remote host 'localhost:31001'. Info: Connection to remote proxy 'localhost:31001' established. The session then aborts on a timeout. My desktop is XFCE, so I use a custom desktop and command "startfxce4". Everything worked fine previously. If I try "connect to local desktop" I get "no local desktop found. I am running client 3.99.2.2 I have the server packages installed (Ubuntu 12.2) but only the x2gocleansessions is running.

Num Lock problem with Windows client and Spanish keyboard

Hi, I got a issue with num lock keys when users connect to x2goserver in ubuntu 11.10 (last x2go windows client downloaded from x2go.org web). More of times the number keys in right side keyboards panel don't work. If you press 5, 0, ., enter in numeric pad work as expected but others work as num lock key was switched off. Some times every of them work as expected but some times not. I tried to set different keyboards layout in users x2goclient, set to blank and auto in keyboard model and keyboard layout fields, exec setxkbmap es after login, etc. but no success. Hi, I wanted to repost my issue from before, as I don't know if it arrived in the mailing list or not. I'm curious where I can start to troubleshoot this. Why is the vcxsrv server not reachable? I am now stuck at this ancient release (3.01), which works more or less, but has problems (and still uses xming, which tends to crash from time to time). I would really like to use the new verison of X2go for Windows, but so far I am stuck at receiving this error: Connection failed xhost: unable to open display I know about this problem on a Linux host, but never had this error on a Windows system. Any help or pointers are appreciated. Here is my original post that probably got lost: ----- I have this problem with all newer versions of x2go on Windows 7. x2godesktopsharing, what's the point?

Can someone explain me when I could use x2godesktopsharing? >From the doc it looks like you needed it to share a desktop but I managed to share desktops without installing it (I only in installed x2goserver). I made a small video to explain better the situation: http://bit.ly/TdpcxE I'm on Ubuntu 12.10. Second questions. With x2godesktopsharing installed I have an applet (http://bit.ly/TZosgs) in the systray where I can activate/deactivate desktop sharing but it has no effect (I can connect with a client when Deactivate desktop sharing is selected) and I don't understand how to add users (Granted user... and Banned users... are always greyed out...) Then I revert back to the old version and then it works flawlessly. Then, after some time, I wish to give a newer version a try and end up with the same problem, unable to use x2goclient. The strange thing is that I now used 3.99.3.0 for a week or so, without problems, but now I am stuck again, it just popped up out of nowhere. How can I fix this? Hello, I use x2goserver 3.2 on my ubuntu-server (from http://ppa.launchpad.net/x2go/ppa/ubuntu precise main). On my Win7 (64 bit prof.) I installed X2GoClient 3.99.2.2. Always when I start x2goclient I get the error-Message "Verbindung fehlgeschlagen Kann Datei nicht öffnen". 1. What is wrong in my instalation? BTW: Like the description on http://www.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:components:x2goclient#ms_windows1 I start with the parameter "http://www.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:components:x2goclient#ms_windows1". But there is no shut-down button. 2. How get I a shut-down button? Thank you! Tony

x2go & debian wheezy ... strange browser freezes (and other little problems)

Hi list, I was in contact with Mike Gabriel and he suggested, that I post some issues to the list, so here I am ... We are going to migrate our Terminalserver-farm from freeNX to x2go and are heaviliy testing the new infrastructure. First I have to say, that x2go is running very good 'out of the box'. Our Test-Setup is as follows: 2 debian wheezy amd64 server (1 AMD Opteron 6128 6-core and 1 Core2 Quad Q6600 with 8Gb RAM each) connected through 1Gb Ethernet running x2goserver 3.1.1.4 (I know, 3.1.1.9 is the actual Version ...) and KDE 4.8.4 Both x2goserver are configured with Postgres Backend and we have an Loadbalancer with IPVS in front of them. x2goclient version is 3.99.3.0 and 3.99.2.1 In our productive environment we will have round about 700 users connected running an KDE4 DE in Kiosk mode using own coded Software (mostly Gambas2 & 3 and Python programs), libreoffice, okular and iceweasel/firefox. We experienced browser freezes with iceweasel 10.0.10 and firefox 13.0.1 after some time of browser-inactivity (>= 15 min). I didn't found any logentries (neither syslog or .xsession-x2go-erros on server nor on client) and the system load is normal ... The client, from which these freezes are observed is a Dualhead PC with nvidia graphic card running the x2go-session in fullscreen mode with xinerama extension and it seems, that the freezes do not occur on clients with only one Display attached. We have flashplugin-nonfree installed, no browser addons, but those freezes are not limited to any flashsites. They occur on several websites including 'normal' howto sites (eg. gambas helpsite) and phpmyadmin. The next thing I want to point out is up to sound (pulseaudio) and suspended sessions. If sound is activated an a user suspends his session, there is strange pulseaudio related logfileflooding. Every second I get: [pulseaudio] main.c: User-configured server at localhost:30014, refusing to start/autospawn. After saying that, I have to admit, that suspend is something we don't want in our setup. I linked x2gosuspend-session to x2goterminate-session to always terminate the session even if the client gives suspend as signal (thanks to Mike for the hint). x2go session timeout

Hi all, regarding some connection tests it turns out, that there is a 120 sec timeout, after which a session to a not responding proxy is turned into suspend mode. /tmp/$USER/session-C-$SESSID: Warning: No data received from remote proxy within 30 seconds. Error: No data received from remote proxy within 120 seconds. Session: Display failure detected at 'Mon Nov 26 16:39:07 2012'. Session: Suspending session at 'Mon Nov 26 16:39:07 2012'. Session: Session suspended at 'Mon Nov 26 16:39:07 2012'. So the question is, if there is a chance to change these 120s? I think, this is an x2go/nx-agent behavior, so where can we dig in? Next, is there a chance to change the default behavior to terminate and not suspend? Thx, Tim

Joe I saw your post: https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/x2go-user/2012-November/001107.html and wasn't sure if anyone responded to you yet. that error is caused by sshd_config file entry in Ubuntu which for some reason seems to change its default from release to release (at least for me). in /etc/ssh/ssd_config Ubuntu defaults to the following: # Change to yes to enable challenge-response passwords (beware issues with # some PAM modules and threads) ChallengeResponseAuthentication no # Change to no to disable tunnelled clear text passwords #PasswordAuthentication yes You will need to change: ChallengeResponseAuthentication no to ChallengeResponseAuthentication yes and uncomment the following by removing the Hash sign: #PasswordAuthentication yes then restart ssh sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart also NOTE that for some reason on some Ubuntu upgrades I have seen the "PasswordAuthentication" entry have any one of the 2 following defaults 1. #PasswordAuthentication yes 2. PasswordAuthentication no Both of which make "PasswordAuthentication no" the active default. But with x2go if you want to use login with User ID and Password entry by a user on the x2go client you have to allow it (set it to yes). Brian

x2goclient shutdown button

Hello, I have freshly reinstalled x2goserver and x2goclient and it seems that I don't have a shutdown button anymore in the Gnome session to quit x2goclient session properly ? For the moment I just close the session by clicking on the close "X" on the upper right and everything resumes properly. But I was wondering if this is intended (was there really a shutdown button or was I dreaming ?). Thanks

German Keyboard Layout issue

Hello, I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with X2go from the repository. If I work local, then I have no problems with the Keyboard Layout (de). But if I use X2go I have some issues. If I set (in Session preferences->Settings->Keyboard) Keyboard layout: de Keyboard model: pc105/de then I can't use the numpad correctly. If Num is unlocked, then it's fine. If I lock Num to use the numbers, then it works sometimes. E.g. sometimes I get '4' and sometimes the cursor goes one position to the left, if I press '4'. If I set (in Session preferences->Settings->Keyboard) Keyboard layout: auto Keyboard model: then the numpad works, but "AltGr", the arrow keys and "Strg" don't work correctly. Do anyone know the right configuration? Thanks, Michael
