Hi, when booting the x2go-TCE i always have a grey area at the right side of the screen where the original Sessions included in TCE where listed. How do i get rid of that? Thanks in advance! Mike, I appreciate your response. I found out about the x2go session broker after I sent my previous email and was wondering if that was the piece I was missing. The only information I could find on it was this page http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/doc:installation:x2gobroker and it only seems to have install instructions for Debian based linux distro's. We are on RH/CentOS and I searched for the x2go session broker package's with no luck. Does anyone know if there is plan's for a RH/CentOS release? Postgres backend for X2GO

All, My employer is thinking about using x2go as our thin client solution. I am trying to get the postgres backend setup. I have the database up and have added some user's however I am not able to migrate my session between 2 node's. Is this what the postgres backend is for or am I misunderstanding it's use? Fedora libssh Problem (100% cpu)

100% reproducible. With the latest libssh f20 update, x2go uses 100% cpu (on 2 cpus) Update to libssh.x86_64 0:0.6.0-1.fc20 I get an error message (as I showed) on connect, and 100% cpu Downgrade to libssh-0.5.5-1.fc20.x86_64 Problem gone

x2go client using 100% cpu!

I was a happy x2go user up until just now. I ran a yum update, perhaps related. Now ever time I connect, x2go client uses 100% cpu (actually, 100% of 2 cpus) Perhaps related, I always get an error message, a picture is attached. I tried rm -rf ~/.x2go on the server, to make sure I'm getting a clean start

I think the x2go proxy can do that. Mike Gabriel and others could give you a definite answer. Stefan Baur's instructions for using SSH forwarding via the command line will work. Just note that in the SSH server settings, you will need to enable TCP forwarding if it is not enabled by default. The settings are usually in /etc/ssh/sshd_config . I think that you can also use x2go client's built in feature to use a "proxy server". I think this feature is just SSH forwarding. Ultimately, which way of doing SSH forwarding is your preference. To use the x2go client's built in feature: 1. In x2go client, define a session for each x2go server host your ultimately want to connect to. The host should be the hostname or the IP address of the x2go server host 2. Under the preferences for each session, enable "Use Proxy server for SSH connection". Then enter the vpn client box's hostname or IP address as the "host" of the proxy server. The "type" of proxy server should set to "SSH". And of course, you can use x2go to connect to this headless box. I recommend you install the full desktop environment you intend to use, but disable X from starting automatically. How to do this varies from distro to distro. For example, on Red Hat and Fedora, you would make the default runlevel 3 instead of 5. Keyboard problem with Del key in XFCE

Hi, I am trying to debug a strange problem with the keyboard in a x2go session to a server using XFCE and OpenSuse 13.1. The session works fine but the "Del" key does not work. These were the steps I followed: - Initially the "Del" key behaved like the print screen key and there were other keys behaving oddly like Insert key or cursor keys that did not work - Changing x2goclient session preferences from current preferences to keyboard map "es" and model to "pc105/es" did not do produce any change - Modifying XFCE keyboard configuration and specifying the keyboard model as "Generic 105 key (Intl) PC" in the advanced options makes the cursor keys work and "Del" stops behaving like print screen. I have checked session.log and the only error I see is: nxagentXkbGetRules: WARNING! Failed to stat file [/usr/local/lib/nx/X11/xkb/rules/xorg]: Unknown error -1. In fact this warning appears also in other server I have running Scientific Linux 6.4 and Gnome where keyboard works correctly. Running xev I see "Del" key is not recognized as a KeyPress event but as a series of FocusOut, FocusIn and KeymapNotify events: FocusOut event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x2e00001, mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor FocusIn event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x2e00001, mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor KeymapNotify event, serial 36, synthetic NO, window 0x0, keys: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 I would really appreciate any hint about how to continue debugging the problem. Hi, I have a small box with linux on it as VPN box. This box is headless. So it will be accessed from another computer in the lan. But this box will be used to access the company systems. So the question is, what would be the best solution? 1. x2go to the box and x2go from there to the systems? 2. Install a proxy or the like (do not know if this exists) on the box and connect from 1 x2go client routed via the box? Is probably an ssh forward enough? Thanks and cheers, Matt

Automatic scaling of full screen sessions no longer works

Hello, one of the big advantages of x2go over Nomachine's NX was that scaling of full screen sessions between clients with different screen sizes just worked out of the box. I have recently upgraded to 4.0.1.11, and now this doesn't work anymore, so when I create a session on a desktop with a large screen, then resume it from a laptop with a smaller screen, in full screen mode, I only see part of my screen, which is unusable. I found this information: http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=2;bug=96 Uncommented the line in /etc/x2go/x2goagent.options, reboot the server and clients just to be sure, and there is no difference. Any other suggestions will be appreciated in order to solve this regression. Jean

CTRL+ALT+T not working in MATE

Hello, I have recently upgraded my Ubuntu installation, which is running x2goserver, to 13.10. I used to use GNOME as a window manager, but since 13.10, gnome seems to require 3D acceleration and can no longer be used with x2go, event in fallback mode (anyone, please tell me if you found a way to make gnome work in 13.10). So I installed MATE and upgraded x2goserver to 4.0.1.11 (Unfortunately both at the same time). Since then, the keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + T (which is the only shortcut I am using) is not longer working. After x2goserver upgrade, I have files /etc/nxagent/keystrokes.cfg and /etc/x2go/keystrokes.cfg (which were not there before) and they both contain a definition for CTRL + ALT + T to terminate a session. Not sure what to do next. Is it perhaps a known issue that CTRL+ALT+T does not work in MATE, or perhaps a known issue in the current version of x2goserver? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you! Jean

Thin Client Edition and USB/CD-ROM client-side mounts

Hi, I added "x2gousbmount" and "x2gocdmanager" to my thinclient image, but all that happens is that I can see USB mass storage media being mounted locally on the client when plugged in. CDs don't show up at all, and nothing (neither USB media nor CDs) shows up inside the X2Go session (where should they show up, anyways? Under which path am I supposed to look for them?). I'm not sure if I made a mistake when configuring the session, though. Is there a man page or wiki page explaining what the session config is supposed look like when one wants to automatically share client-side media? -Stefan

Keyboard mapping issues with Windows client

@Mike Gabriel I have broken this out of the thread "[X2Go-User] [newb] display size ignored". I wanted to clarify the keyboard mapping issues that I'm seeing. I need, at least, to connect to a KDE session from a Windows client with a UK keyboard and from a UK model Mac laptop correctly. When connecting a Windows KDE session I invariably get a US keyboard layout. I'm sorry this post is so long, but its all a bit complicated... My early tests were a bit confusing, I think because the system I'm connecting to has a system-wide UK keyboard setting. So, sometimes tests with xterm seem to be working when its just getting a default. In order to resolve this ambiguity, I've been testing from my Windows laptop with the keyboard set to French mapping which is not a default for the system I'm connecting to or for kde. I've been testing from Windows client 4.01.2 and server package x2goserver-4.0.1.9-2.fc20.x86_64 from the Fedora 20 repo. When I start a single application session (/usr/bin/xterm) the only setup that seems to get the correct French keyboard mappings is when I explicitly set the Keyboard layout to fr and the Keyboard model to pc105/fr. Choosing either auto for the layout or ticking the checkbox "Keep current keyboard settings" does not result in a French layout. (In both cases I get a UK keyboard layout which is the system default for the system I'm connecting to). Having established how to get the correct keyboard mapping in a plain xterm I try a kde session with the same client keyboard settings; now I get a US keyboard layout, which I suspect is a kde default. I'm doing a setxkbmap -print >& /tmp/temp.lis very early on in /usr/bin/startkde and I can see that at that point a French keyboard is set. However, by the time the KDE session is running and I can type into a konsole I have a US key layout. (Logging in to a KDE session at the console on this system gets me a UK keyboard as expected). I thought that maybe KDE is setting its own US keyboard map (or just defaulting to US) so I took some advice from the Fedora KDE list on how to stop KDE setting its own keyboard map. However, that had no effect. I still get the US keyboard map. So, I think there are at least two problems: 1) For the simple xterm session setting the layout to "auto" or checking the box "Keep current keyboard settings" is not working. 2) KDE is possibly overriding the already set keyboard map with a US layout. Is it likely that the nightly Windows client builds will address both these issues or perhaps just 1)? Can you confirm that its possible (for you) to get a KDE session with the correct keyboard mapping that is not the default? Thanks Roderick

wrong keyboard layout

Hi all, after last packages upgrades (debian testing) I began having problems with keyboard layout. The configuration falled back to "us", while my client is configured as "it". Looking into session logs I found a warning about being unable to stat file /usr/local/lib/nx/X11/xbd/rules/xorg. Indeed there is no "nx" directory under /usr/local/lib in my system. I fixed with: mkdir /usr/local/lib/nx ln -s /usr/share/X11 /usr/local/lib/nx/X11 I don't know if this is correct. I suspect a bug in latest packages... Giuseppe

Pulseaudio muffles sounds from other applications in Windows 7

Hello all, I just upraded from version 3.99 (I think it was) to the latest - 4.0.1.2. I both the previous version and this one, I found that when pulseaudio.exe runs (starts when x2goclient i started), sound from Youtube and other applications is muffled and turned down slightly (audible). Killing pulseaudio.exe would remedy that. I don't need sound in x2go-client and I would have hoped that having sound disabled in my profile, I wouldn't have to kill pulseaudio.exe every time I run x2goclient.. but no. Anyway.. in 3.99 I would kill pulseaudio.exe and all would be fine, but then I upgraded to 4.0.1.2 .. now I can kill pulseaudio.exe, but it will immediately be restarted.. Urgh.. Now I have to rename the pulseaudio.exe file so x2go can't restart it. My question: Could you please make it possible to either not install pulseaudio at all or at least produce a clever way of not having x2go start it at runtime? wmctrl problems

Hi all, Running x2go server on ubuntu (12.04), and my terminal is a mac running XQuartz (with quartz-wm) and the Qt x2go client. I used the Published apps rootless and spawn a few windows from the server. Things run pretty smoothly and Im happy with the performance. The thing that hurts is related to window management. Heres a relevant output: $ echo $DISPLAY :50 $ wmctrl -l Cannot get client list properties. (_NET_CLIENT_LIST or _WIN_CLIENT_LIST) $ wmctrl -m Cannot get window manager info properties. (_NET_SUPPORTING_WM_CHECK or _WIN_SUPPORTING_WM_CHECK) Whereas if I run the same commands natively on the mac, XQuartz responds correctly to wmctrl. So the problem affects pretty much all tools related to window management I tried. I am no X11 expert, but I am a developer and very familiar with linux systems. Right now I just need a few pointers, any thoughts? Thanks in advance! /jfd

x2go & firefox, overload + lockups

Hello, I do all my work through x2go (central XFCE desktop server for the company) and I run the nightly Firefox builds. Certain web pages lead to my entire desktop turning extremely slow, sometimes completely unworkable. This is with only a wireless lan between my terminal and the x2go server. I understand there's a problem with Firefox here, probably generating too many x events (guess) or similar. However, it doesn't seem like x2go is working optimally when a single application can spoil the whole desktop like this (even when the windows are on a different workspace or minimized). The solution is simply to close Firefox when the desktop grinds to a halt (a few times per day). As one of the pages it happened on was our own web page, I looked at the web code to try to track down the problem, and it was bizarrely triggered when many objects on the web page had the background-size property set to 100% in CSS, so there's definitely a Firefox issue involved. However, I'd like to work out if I can tune x2go to handle this better. I thought, based on how NX worked, that events were handled locally on the server and only sent across the link when needed. I can't confirm if this is involved, but it certainly seems like something can be improved as windows that are not shown shouldn't, reasonably, be able to interfere. Does anyone have any input on this? Advice? Should I report a bug? Many thanks. Regards, Carl

Hi there)) I am trying to configure x2go/pxe and this is my first question. I did a clientsession in server and scp transfer to pxe server. PXE server is ready, client booted but I can't login cause this message appears (in client): "Access denied: Authentication that can continue...." while it was possible to login from a linux box. Raspberry Pi as cheap Thin Client

Hi, I just stumbled over http://rpitc.blogspot.de/ - a project to turn Raspis into cheap thin clients. They're including an X2Go client in their image, too. I'd be curious how these boxes perform under load - did anyone on this list try it out already? If no, who owns a Raspi and is willing to give it a try? -Stefan

Problems with x2goserver 4.0.1.10 / 4.0.0.8

Hi all, two customers of mine stumbled over problems with the recent X2Go Server upgrades. Issues occurred for sessions that had dots in the session name (because of user names containing dots or because of command names containing dots). These issues will be fixed tomorrow, I am about to release X2Go Server 4.0.1.11 / 4.0.0.9 (Baikal LTS) tonight. Hi, das Problem habe ich seit einigen Tagen auch. Du kannst mit setxkbmap -print die Tastatureinstellungen anzeigen und mit setxkbmap de setzen. Gruss klak2 hier: Debian Testing Client und Server
