suspended sessions are not restoring

I mentioned this problem last week and went back and forth a few times but there was no resolution. Since I am being paid to implement this I have no choice but to bring it up again. My apologies. I have the broker running on a login server and my applications running on 3 x2go servers. Everything is working fine except for this one thing. I can suspend a session, and when I run x2golistsessions I am seeing the suspended sessions in the database. But when I run the same application the suspended session is not starting up, I am getting a new one. I can verify that because if I run x2golistsessions while the new session is running I see two sessions in the database. I've tried taking two of my application servers out of the picture and limiting it to 1, but I still see the same thing. I've got PostgreSQL running on my broker server, and all the application servers access it without a problem. At least I can run x2golistsessions on all three without a problem. If it matters, after running x2goversion on the application servers I'm seeing this x2goserver: 4.1.0.0 x2goserver-common: 4.1.0.0 x2goserver-extensions: 4.1.0.0 x2goserver-x2goagent: 3.5.99.16 x2goserver-xsession: 4.1.0.0 And on the broker server I see this X2goserver: 4.1.0.2 X2goserver-common: 4.1.0.2 X2goserver-extensions: 4.1.0.2 X2goserver-x2goagent: 3.5.99.16 X2goserver-xsession: 4.1.0.2 Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Broker and resuming sessions

First a little explanation of the architecture. The login server load balances sessions between 3 servers where the actual applications run. That part is working fine. The problem is when I suspend a session instead of ending it. My understanding was that if I chose the same session profile it would resume my application at the same point. That's not what I'm seeing. First, when I run x2golistsessions it does not show my currently running session. Then if I suspend the session I still don't see it listed. I've checked it on all three of the servers. Then when I run the same session it is starting a new one rather than resuming. Well, I guess it can't do anything else since my session isn't stored. Can I suspend a session in this kind of environment? The documentation seems to say I can. Is there something special I have to do in the client to get it working? Currently the only command line option I am using with the client is -broker-url=http://<hostmane>:8080/plain/inifile Should I use something else? x2goclient on openSUSE Tumbleweed

I'm trying to install x2goclient on openSUSE Tumbleweed following the official x2go guide that can be found here: https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:repositories:suse After adding the repo, I do a "zypper refresh" followed by a "zypper install x2goclient" but unfortunately the installation cannot proceed because I obtain the following error: "Problem: nothing provides libssh.so.4(LIBSSH_0.7.2)(64bit) needed by x2goclient-4.1.1.1-1.6.x86_64 Solution 1: do not install x2goclient-4.1.1.1-1.6.x86_64 Solution 2: break x2goclient-4.1.1.1-1.6.x86_64 by ignoring some of its dependencies Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/c] (c):" Is there a way to solve this? Both libssh4 and libssh-devel versions installed on the system are 0.8.3-1.1. Tell me if I've to provide further informations. Matlab in X2go

I'm having some issues using Matlab2018a in X2go. When using xfce4 (and KDE) desktop it causes some exception when the X2go window is hidden or resized. It also will hide all of the button widgets in Matlab until I mouse over them. When I change the session type to 'Single Application: Terminal', and then typing 'matlab &' in the terminal it works perfectly fine. Problem connecting via intermediate site

I have x2go working perfectly OK when connecting across my LAN, so the basics are OK. However it doesn't work when connecting my laptop when I'm away from home (i.e. not on the LAN). When I'm away from home I connect via an intermediate site to my home system, i.e. in my ~/.ssh/config file I have the following:- # # # esprimo may be remote or local # Match host esprimo exec "hostNotLocal esprimo" ForwardX11 true ProxyCommand ssh cheddar nc -q0 zbmc.eu 22 host esprimo ForwardX11 true So when I'm not on the home LAN I connect via 'cheddar' to my home machine. Can I get x2go to do the same thing somehow? Or, even better, can I get x2go to use a connection already set up by ssh in 'ControlMaster' mode? -- Chris Green

The last wiki changes on TCE-Live are from February ("This page is very much Work in Progess."). Should I start by the traditional way, so called TCE-Classic? Thanks for your response in advance. Failed to start X2Go Agent Session

Hello After some user's session got broken due to a client/server incompatibility, the user deleted all their session data and then told me they can not log in at all anymore. At first I could not see any problem (everything worked as expected for me), but when I deleted my own /tmp/.x2go-danielk directory, I started having the exact same problem. The error I get is: Agent output: "Failed to start X2Go Agent session with ID danielk-50-1539704304_stRTERMINAL_dp24. X2Go Agent terminated unexpectedly. Aborting session startup. The complete relevant last part of the debug log is pasted below. The session.log for this session contains the error Error: Aborting session with 'Unable to open display 'nx/nx,options=/tmp/.x2go-danielk/C-danielk-50-1539704304_stRTERMINAL_dp24/options:50''. Do you have any idea how I can get this working again. It appears to me that something is not functioning accordingly with the session management, because the session state file remains in state STARTING and if I try logging in again then I get asked whether I want to terminate or suspend the running session (can't resume) Thanks for any help. Dear $ALL, As stated in the subject line, X2Go: The Gathering 2018 will take place at Stuttgart's hackerspace "shackspace", from Friday afternoon, 2018-11-09, to Sunday afternoon/evening, 2018-11-11. So, only a little more than 4 weeks from now. X2Go: The Gathering is the annual event where users, admins, and developers of X2Go meet face to face, to discuss current X2Go-related issues, fix open bugs, and have a good time getting to know each other. As there is some overlap between X2Go, Arctica, and ORCA e.V., you can expect to see members of those groups as well. Food and beverages are available on-site at low cost. I tried with x2goclient on openSUSE site that you suggested, but I obtain the same problem: if I try to install the rpm, this is the error "rpm -i /media/sf_Downloads/x2goclient-4.1.1.1-2.6.x86_64.rpm warning: /media/sf_Downloads/x2goclient-4.1.1.1-2.6.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID faa17186: NOKEY error: Failed dependencies: libssh_threads.so.4()(64bit) is needed by x2goclient-4.1.1.1-2.6.x86_64" It seems that libssh_threads is not anymore available into the libssh package provided by openSUSE. Local Desktop access crashes client almost immediately

I'm running Scientific Linux 7.4 on the server, and Windows 7 on the client. I want to access my accounts (non-privileged) local desktop remotely. I log in and select the local desktop option in the client. I get a flash of the desktop (with the wrong screen size remotely anyway - I see a small part of the desktop) and then the Windows X server crashes. x2goserver-4.0.1.20-1.el7.x86_64 X2Go Client v. 4.1.0.0 Any ideas? -- James Pulver CLASSE Computer Group Cornell University

x2goclient segfault with ubuntu 18.04 kde

Hi I'm getting a segfault on kde (at the moment it's the neon.kde.org packages, but before it was kubuntu) on ubuntu 18.04. How do I debug the crash or better still, how do I fix the crash? I've never left an individual session connected for more then a day and I frequently drop the connection after afew hours. Everything should reconnect and be exactly where you left it. How long should an X2go session stay up?

I have several users complaining that they "lose" their X2Go session after a week or two and have to re-connect. This is on our local LAN so it's unlikely to be a network drop, though there may be a momentary interruption. Is there any way of shortening the x2go mount point?

The length of the x2go mount point spoils the output of 'df -m' such that it's almost unusable, so, can it be shortened? Font size in a 'Single Application'

I have just installed x2go (server on my xubuntu 18.04 desktop, client on my xubuntu 18.04 laptop). I am using it to run Digikam as a 'Single Application'. I must say it was incredibly easy to set up and get working, congratulations to the developers. The text in Digikam is a bit too large, i tried increasing the DPI in the session settings but that seemed to have no effect (or maybe it made the text even bigger!). So, is there a way to make the text smaller? -- Chris Green

Hi $LIST, According to Mike#1, who currently attends DebConf in Montreal, Debian 9 + X2Go Stable + KDE5/Plasma have been shown to work together. This is a single report so far, though. If anyone is willing and able to test and confirm this, it would be highly appreciated. Another test result we'd be interested in would be what happens if you use Arctica NX-Libs and X2Go Heuler instead of X2Go Stable. X2go server and pgpool

I'm trying to get x2go server running in a high availability environment, which includes using pgpool for replication etc. I've got my /etc/x2go/x2gosql/sql file setup this way: backend=postgres host=<hostname> port=9999 When I try x2godbadmin -createdb I get a pgpool error I don't understand: DBI connect('dbname=x2go_sessions;host=<hostname>;port=9999;sslmode=disable','postgres',...) failed :ERROR: unable to read message kind DETAIL: kind does not match between master(53) slot[1] (45) at /sbin/x2godbadmin line 530. Backend=postgres at /sbin/x2godbadmin line 530. When I connect with pgAdmin I can see that the x2godbuser has been created and the x2go_sessions database has been created. If I try to connect to the database I get this error [cid:image002.png@01D44F61.9E2EB470] If I change the port= to 5432 (the default postgresql port) the command works fine. So, I guess my first question is, is this sort of setup supported? If so, is there any documentation or suggestions? x2go error: Failed to start Agent (terminated unexpectedly)

Hi all, I am in the process of evaluating x2go as an alternative to VNC. It looks very promising, but we are running into an odd issue. I am running a basic setup: x2goserver-xsession is installed on a CentOS 7 machine, users connect to it using the x2go client (either from Linux or Windows) and receive a KDE desktop. When connecting, I get this error (from /var/log/messages): <HOSTNAME> /usr/sbin/x2gocleansessions[124414]: <USERNAME>-50-1537370420_stDKDE_dp24: state file for this session does not exist: /tmp/.x2go-<USERNAME>/C-<USERNAME>-50-1537370420_stDKDE_dp24/state│ <HOSTNAME> /usr/bin/x2gostartagent: Failed to start X2Go Agent session with ID <USERNAME>-50-1537370420_stDKDE_dp24. X2Go Agent terminated unexpectedly. Aborting session startup. │ The same error "Failed to start agent..." is shown in the x2goclient. I have narrowed this down to one line in my bashrc: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH If I comment this line, I can start sessions without any issue. As part of my debugging, I have set the x2go server log level in /etc/x2go/x2goserver.conf: [log] loglevel=debug Any suggestions for next steps? Is my logging level really set correctly, or should I be seeing more? Thanks, Tim
