x2go does not access seahorse's default keyring, so problems in evolution

Hello, When I log in to Fedora 30 locally, it prompts me for my keyring password on login, and I type it and then I proceed normally. I then can open evolution and it accesses my credentials fine. However, when connecting to my desktop via x2go, evolution says it failed to obtain access token, credentials, etc, and keeps prompting me for mail passwords and doesn't work. If I open seahorse, it doesn't even list my default keyring. If I use x2godesktopsharing, it works fine, but I can't do that from a laptop because it makes the display too small. Please tell me there is some way to fix this? Thanks,

Every connect from Ubuntu 18.04 client gives core dump

Hi, The setup is reasonably simple. A network with Ubuntu 18.04 PCs (workstations, so to speak). SSH connections between them work flawlessly. But x2go refuses to work. At all. Whatever I do, I only get Segmentation fault (core dumped) If I run x2goclient in the gdb debugger, it shows that it fails in Thread 6 "SshMasterConnec" received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. [Switching to Thread 0x7fffdf7fe700 (LWP 5778)] 0x00007ffff7b89eeb in ?? () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssh.so.4 My first question: is anyone using x2go successfully on Ubuntu 18.04 (client and remote)? -- Kees

No terminal windows, no logout.

Hi, we use x2go for multiple users to connect to workstations running Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS. Clients run on MacOSX or Windows machines. After using the setup for some days with multiple reconnects, for unknown reasons we can no longer open terminal applications via these remote-desktops. This applies to all terminal applications like UXTerm, Xfce Terminal, XTerm, etc. We can still perfectly open a file manager, or e.g. Matlab and work with those. We can also no longer close the session because the confirmation dialog to confirm user logout does not appear. It seems like there is a terminal process started every time we start a terminal via the desktop GUI. But the window does not show up. After rebooting the workstation, everything works fine again, terminals can be opened, logout confirmation dialog pops up. Currently we use XFCE desktop. X2go and Rstudio in RHEL 7 [GLX error]

X2Go on a Plane!

Hi List, Our "X2Go: The Gathering 2019" participant Martti Pitkanen tried something out that I sadly couldn't try on my last flight with Finnair, due to some technical difficulties with the satellite uplink: Starting an X2Go Desktop Session with a server on the ground while in mid-flight! And he even managed to record a video of it! Watch this: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlqVS60DNgQ&feature=youtu.be> The really impressive feat is that Martti is using the "browsing" internet package Finnair offers - which is marketed as "only good for Web browsing and E-Mail", rather than the more expensive "streaming" package. Finnair says they block streaming and VPN access on the "browsing" package, but - SSH works, and thus X2Go works as well. As you can see in Martti's video, the speed with which the screen gets updated is totally okay, too (especially considering that he is using Chrome Browser in the remote session, which isn't exactly fast over X2Go, even on a wired connection). This is a big advantage for Linux and X2Go compared to an RDP connection to a Windows machine - we don't need a separate VPN connection to make things safe (we can simply use 2FA via PAM, or an SSH keyfile + passphrase), so we're - allow me the pun - flying under Finnair's radar for VPN connections, and the small internet package is sufficient for X2Go. By the way, should Finnair choose to block SSH in the future, there are probably some ways around that as well. The easiest one is to switch the SSH port from 22 to 443 - if they're only blacklisting/whitelisting ports. 443 is https, and cheap firewall/proxy settings usually allow direct connections to that port without further inspection or MitM-proxying. The more complicated one would be running a web proxy on your remote machine that listens to outside connections on Port 443, but only allows CONNECT type requests to localhost on port 22 (and blocks everything else). Then you'd set up X2GoClient to use that web proxy in the session configuration. That way, the traffic should look like http/https traffic to any packet-inspecting firewall. Getting "Access denied for 'password'. Authentication that can continue: publickey, password", used to work

I've been running x2go from an xubuntu laptop client to an xubuntu desktop machine successfully for a year or so. It has now stopped working with a pop-up window that says:- Access denied for 'password'. Authentication that can continue: publickey,password Access denied for 'password'. Authentication that can continue: publickey,password (yes, it is repeated like that) I have moved from xubuntu 18.04 to 19.04 (via 18.10), would this have caused the problem maybe? Whatever, how do I fix this? The error doesn't make much sense anyway as it's saying I'm not allowed to use password authentication and then it's saying I must use either publickey or password. FWIW I do use password authentication on my systems, for various reasons public key doesn't fulfil my requirements. -- Chris Green

If you do not find any lines regarding keycode conversion in the session log it means you are using keyboard clone mode which is designed to "just do it right". Well, as I wrote: It should always clone the settings it finds on the client side. You are using a so called "shadowed" session ("connect to local desktop"). That setup is not tested as well as "normal" session as it is slower by design. It might be that we hitting a bug here. One thing you can try: add X2GO_NXAGENT_DEFAULT_OPTIONS+=" -keyconv off" to /etc/x2go/x2goagent.options and retry. Uli

X2go irritating System policy

Hi there Help would be much appreciated: We are running Ubuntu Mate 18.04.3 LTS. When accessing the system via VNC, everything works fine. However, when accessing via X2go and we are trying to start or stop a VPN connection, we are asked to authenticate every time (see scrennshot below). The issue does not persist when using a VNC session. Apparently the X2go session does not give me sufficient privilidge to allow "manipulate" network connections. Would anybody please be so kind to give advice regarding a workaround? I am not a Linux expert, unfortunately. Request for help on multiscreen workstation

Hi to all, i have some remote workstations (running Linux CentOs 7.5 with XFCE d.e.) with 3 or 4 screens connected to each machine. On those workstations, I have installed x2go Server following instruction and it works, but with only a problem: when I connect to one remote machine, with x2go Client from my PC (running Windows 10 Pro 64), it show me on my screen the content of ALL the screens connected to the remote machine, but very "restricted" horizontally to fit all 4 screens in my only one desktop!! So it's impossible to do anything... I'd like to know if there is a setting (of Server side, I suppose) in order to show me only the first remote screen, also if there is more than one monitor connected. x2go quits unexpectedly

Hello,Recently, the x2go client in mac started quitting unexpectedly on first try. On the second try, x2go starts, but ends up with a blank dotted screen (screenshot attached). I am using the latest (August 6, 2019) x2go server version, running mac 10.14.6. I also have the latest xquartz installed.If I start a session in a PC and then join the session from mac, it works. browser crashes on disconnect

I've been using x2go for awhile now, years. Recently I rebuilt my server and moved the drives around. I used to be able to leave a session running with firefox or chrome, but everytime I disconnect now Firefox and chrome die. Other programs, for example konsole and qbittorrent don't, just browsers. I've looked in my journelctl and I don't see anything. Any ideas? I'm on Opensuse 15. Paul Borowicz

I had posted the bash one here before I just ran into some tcsh users that where having similar issues so I thought it might be helpful. My .bashrc starts with the 2 lines if [ "$BASH_EXECUTION_STRING" != "" ]; then return 0; fi # do not add items before this line This helps with sftp and x2go if you have things that interfere with x2go or sftp like changing directories or adding paths that might interfere or just code block that might interfere. for tcsh add the following 2 lines to the top of your .cshrc if ( `set |grep "^command.bash" |grep "X2GO"` != "" ) exit # do not add items before this line

x2go and signed certificates p2

Hello, I am working on establishing a connection between an Ubuntu client and Centos server with x2go server on it for a connection with signed certificates. (My x2go server currently uses asymmetric encryption and works as intended but requires manual placement of keys between clients and hosts, which is tedious). So I setup a CA and configured signed certificates to work with ssh-agent because I see x2go supports ssh-agent. When I used ssh agent to take in the private key and signed certificate (see commands below), I can ssh to the x2go server using the certificate and private key via command line, but I can't seem to get x2go application to open a display when ticking the (use ssh agent box). I tried to specify the private key or certificate in the "Use RSA/DSA key for ssh connection box" and private key and certificate together and authentication to the server via x2go was not even attempted as the (secure log was empty). Signed certificates are a common and very secure method of authentication, and x2go needs to support this does it already support it and there is something major I might have missed? (To authenticate to x2go server via terminal) with ssh agent I do: ssh username@ip_address without ssh agent I do: ssh -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa-cert.pub -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa username@ip_address

keymapping changes everytime x2goserver restarts

I reported some time ago that on my setup: fedora 30 client fedora 30 server Everytime the server restarts and I establish a new session, I need to toggle the setting of 'configure keyboard'. I have on the client remapped capsLock -> Ctrl. Unless I toggle the setting from the setting I used the previous time the mapping is not working. So if I'm using autoconfigure keyboard the next time the server reboots and I start a new session (I only start a new session on reboot), I'll need to set don't configure keyboard Any ideas? Neal

Does x2go work with signed certificates

Hello, just wondering if X2GO has capabilities to work with signed certificates. I am currently using x2go to connect to a centos 6.1 server with essentially an interface to mysql. The connection is done through public and private keys, with authorised key file(public key) on the users home directory on the server. I want to switch to signed certificates, will x2go support this? I use vault by hashicorp to sign my certificate after public key is sent to it, then I authenticate using private key and signed certificate to the host. The command is: ssh -i signed-cert -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa username@ip_address
