Upcoming X2Go and orca e.V. Sponsorship Drives - Starting Tomorrow, 2024-12-01

Dear $ALL, As we're approaching the end of the year, we can't help but notice that X2Go is running low on funds. We are still in need of almost 300 EUR to cover this year's hosting costs, and we're a good 2 100 EUR short in the "events" category, covering costs relating having handouts/posters printed for our booths, and travel/accommodation costs for our volunteers. It would be really cool if you could send some $$$/€€€/£££/¥¥¥ our way, so we can keep advocating for X2Go and free remote desktop/remote application projects in general, but also to keep our servers running. We can accept donations via PayPal, Credit Card, Direct Debit, giropay/paydirect and wire transfer. Best of all, donations towards X2Go and orca are usually tax deductible for German tax subjects. There are two sponsorship drives coming up, the first of them starting tomorrow: 1) Non-recurring donations up to 100 Euro made on any Sunday during December 2024 will be matched by Betterplace with an additional 15%. This offer is only valid until a funding pool of 4 000 Euro is depleted (per Sunday). So the earlier you donate on these Sundays, the higher the chance that your donation will receive the bonus. 2) Non-recurring donations up to 100 Euro made on Friday, 2024-12-06 (starting 09:00 CET and ending 23:59 CET) will be matched 100% by the Commercial and Savings Bank Ulm. This offer is only valid until a funding pool of 10 000 Euro is depleted. x2go with Yubico Authenticator - FIDO2 / WebAuthn

Hi All I have a question using Yubico Authenticator through an x2go session. I apologize for asking this question multiple times but I finally found the mailing list, so I'm posting the question here If the question had already been answered, in the libera chat, could the answer pls be reposted here? I'm interested in using FIDO2/ WebAuthn (with Yubico Authenticator in a remote machine (machine B), accessing the Yubikey plugged into the local machine (machine A) My Yubico Authenticator on machine B can access FIDO2 / WebAuthn of the Yubikey plugged into machine A, by using usbip, and if I am logged into the machine B's terminal directly But if I use x2go to remote from A to B, trying to use FIDO2 / WebAuthn on the remoted machine B to machine A's yubikey (connected using usbip) stops working So because it works successfully with usbip without the x2go session, but stops working with the x2go session connected, it seems like there's something about the x2go session to cause the FIDO2 / WebAuthn to stop working. Thoughts? best regards

Session: Terminating session at 'Fri Nov 22 21:49:10 2024'. This started after an update in my base os (slackware current). I just recompiled x2go, nx-libs and the perl deps. And now I cannot connect, getting always this error message. I have read too many block post, mailing list messages (from this list, with similar title), and so on, with the same keywords, and nothing works. Some post are very old, like from 10 years ago, and yet I tried what was suggested. Looking for info in the web is now almost hopeless, all the links that appear are marked as already visited by me. Some LLM suggest basically the same thing (plus deleting ~/.x2go and things like that, and gues, do not work). I have tried changing nx-libs versions, x2goserver versions, deleting and recreating the data base, etc. Both ssh and ssh -X work. I really don't have a clue. Normally when x2go failed I just had to recompile perl-DBD... but this is a very different problem. I suspect is something related with permission with some magic cookie, but nothing appears in the logs that give some clue. I have played also with x2gstartagent and it fails with errors showing that /usr/lib64/x2go/libx2go-server-db-sqlite3-wrapper insertsession 50 sala29.salafis.net myuser-50-1732504908 failed, but I was not able to make it run or understand the problem, and sometimes it seems that this happens because I ran it remotely, using ssh, so no DISPLAY var was set. I really need some tip, gidance, help. Thanks in advance This is important because is the tool we use to access remotely a coputer room, so right now students cannnot use it and are relying on workarounds like accessing file using vscode remote-desktop extension, or a complicated reverse tunnel with turbovnc, and so on. Trouble with cut/paste

I've been having trouble with cut/paste. My local is Fedora41 running wayland/kde. Remote is Fedora40 running xfce. At random, but many times per day lately, I try to cut from the remote and paste on the local. If I paste into google chrome, chrome becomes hung and must be killed. If I paste into emacs I see "waiting for reply from selection owner". The problem isn't new, but recently has become much more frequent to the point of being not enjoyable. Any ideas?

Unable to create SSH tunnel for X2Go session (NX) startup, error binding localhost

Hello We are using X2Go client (4.1.2.2) in Windows 10 and 11 computers to contact Ubuntu 20.04 server (4.1.0.6-0~2023081). Some users get sometimes following error when launching session: Unable to create SSH tunnel for X2Go session (NX) startup: Error binding localhost:<port> I can't find any place where I could change the port number. Restarting client Windows computer does not help, restarting x2goserver.service in Ubuntu server does not help either. I have noticed that this error does not appear if x2goclient (4.1.2.4) installed on Windows computer's WSL (Ubuntu 20.04) is started. However, using X2go client through WSL is not good solution here as one can't share Windows directory through that. How should I proceed? Would it be possible to get 4.1.2.4 version to MS Windows also? BR, Kalle

Laggy screen refresh in xfce, ok in Win10

Hi all, I got a debian machine with XFCE (window compositor disabled) I access from both a Ubuntu 22.04 machine (XFCE, here, too, tried disabling the compositor) and Windows 10. From Windows 10 it's reasonably ok, but from the Ubuntu/XFCE screen refresh lags like Wing Commander II on a 286. How come?

X2Go breaks clipbord

Hello, I’m using X2Go 4.1.2.2 to access a Linux server from a Windows 11 client. When I open an X2Go session, the Windows clipboard behaves erratically. It works a few times, but then copy and paste becomes impossible. This issue occurs with Windows to X2Go, X2Go to Windows, and even Windows to Windows. The normal clipboard functions return as soon as I close the X2Go window. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you.

X2Go client Authentication Issue

Dear X2Go Support Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek assistance with an authentication issue I am experiencing with the X2Go client on my Windows machine. I am using X2Go Client to enter a linux server using SSH key authentication. However, I encountered an issue where, after providing my SSH key passphrase and successfully logging in, I was prompted for a password once more. This second prompt seems unnecessary, as I am using key-based authentication that works flawlessly through the Command Prompt. SSH keys are for passwordless login in servers. The command I am using through Command Prompt is "ssh username@ipaddress" and it works just as fine, without asking for an extra password (just the passphrase). Could you help me with this? Hello! I have server on debian based image, launched in domain controller (Active Directory) via IPA . I'm using x2go for published apps and if I login via local user - everything works just fine! If I use domain account for connecting via x2go client - error occures "chmod: cannot get access to file '~DOMAINNAMEuser_name/.x2go/ssh/key.M15508': there is no such file or catalog" Right before connecting - there is indeed no such file in that directory, but after this error - file generating anyway and everything works just fine! Question is : How I can prevent occurrence of this error ? Thanks!
