I port forward port 22 through the ADSL router (which has 192.168.1.1 as LAN ethernet address and the server has 192.168.1.3). Could this have something to do with the problem? What is port 30001 used for and should I allow that through the firewall? Surely port 22 should be enough? This error is most annoying to say the least, since no-where on the internet is an explaination of the cause nor the fix for it. Some people seem to have managed to get past it by luck. This is an Ubuntu 12.04 64bit server that had nxserver install. One day (probably after some update, but it was too long ago to undo of trace now) the nxclient just stopped working. I left it after many futile attempt to fix it. I have completely removed (purged) openssh-server and nxserver, nxnode and nxclient. Numerous times, apart from creating keys manually and more. So I though, let me switch to X2Go. And lo and behold, I get the same error. Strangely enough though, I can connect perfect to the server via SSH every time. What causes this and how does one fix this please? regards Roland

Need to remap ONE key ('p')

I have an x2go client-server configuration that works perfectly /except/ the that the letter lowercase 'p' does not appear when typed. Can someone tell my how to remap a single key? Hi, I forgot to mention an important point on my setup: User Peter is in a chroot, while user Tom is not (on the main host, where the chroot is running). In a X2go session, I can use the same display when I do a xhost + and set the DISPLAY variable for the second user to the same as first user, but when I do that for the chroot user Peter, to be able to use Toms display, it does not work. What special steps are required to make this possible for chroot? I tried to install x2goserver in the chroot, set the port for ssh to 23, but I cannot log in that way to Peter. Thanks, Markus

Problems with meta characters on Mac client

Hi, I can't seem to figure out how to make x2goclient send characters such as | (pipe) and @ to my terminalserver, when connected from a Mac client. It works fine from a Linux client. My terminalserver is running XFCE on Ubuntu with latest x2goserver and x2goclient 4.0.1.0 on OSX 10.8 with danish keyboard layout. I have tried changing layouts in the XFCE settings, but that just results in all keyboard input being scrambled around. When I set it back to "system standard" most keys work correctly, except stuff that requires meta-keys. Pipe on danish Mac is alt+i, which logically just produces the alt+i effect in XFCE. @ is alt+' (next to enter) on a danish mac keyboard. This produces nothing in XFCE. Any hints for how to at least be able to produce those characters in an x2goclient session? Even better would of course be a full keyboard-solution for Mac-users, but that might be tough, given the fundamental differences between PC and Mac keyboards :) -- Anders Bruun Olsen It-ansvarlig Det Danske Sprog- og Litteraturselskab (Society for Danish Language and Literature)

No I must say, it's unstable under linux too, not only win7. My server side is with automatic updates switched on and I see multiple times in week a notifications about that. Sometimes it will suggest me to reboot my computer to update but I will not do it before weekend - somewhere in the saturday evening but not at every week. My linux client side is with automatic updates turned off and I will update it manually at friday afternoon (if I remember to do it and if I have a time to do it) before turning off for the weekend. So it is very hard to tell which updates and at which side was a cause of the problems. Windows client is updated very rarely. But somewhere at last two weeks I started to see problems connecting to suspended x2go sessions. After then I updated also windows client but no better stability. If I connect from linux client it will disconnect me after I try to connect to my suspended session (for a moment I can see my desktop and sometimes I can click something and run a command or two). Every time I see my suspended session (with ID number) so I will assume my login was correct. After few retries (number of times differ from day to day) I will get a connection and it is stable until evening then I disconnect it before going home. At home I will connect from windows client and also there is login correct because I see my suspended session with ID number (sometimes it is not 50 but over that but this is a same until I must make a new session). If I try to resume this session I will sometimes see my desktop for a few seconds (and sometimes I can click and run a command or two) but it will disconnect me again saying something about my incorrect credentials. After few retries I will get my session and this is stable until i disconnect it later. PyHoca-GUI is more stable and with this I can reconnect better. I have'nt used windows x2go-client for a last week or two anymore. But there are also cases there after a few unsuccessfull reconnections PyHoca-GUI will not show my suspended session anymore and I must start a new one. And there is a new session at the server - the old one is gone with all related programs closed.
