Folder sharing does not work with x2goclient

Hi list, While folder sharing works fine using pyhoca-cli, it does not work at all with x2goclient. This is what sshd says on the client side when trying to "share" a folder from the gui: May 8 13:55:43 uranus sshd[23908]: Connection from 127.0.0.1 port 51821 May 8 13:55:43 uranus sshd[23908]: Connection closed by 127.0.0.1 [preauth] mount's output on the server side does not show anything interesting. I am running Ubuntu precise (12.04), both on the client and the server. Do you have any hints on how to debug this further? Paul, Unfortunately as a regular user of the Mac X2go client, this is something I've seen many times. Unfortunately, I haven't found any fix for it. The good news is that it rarely happens if you keep the X11 application open. Always open X11 before starting your X2go session. From there, you can stop/start X2go sessions, even the X2go client itself, however I almost always keep my X11 app running even when it's not being uses and then I don't get the problem you are describing. If I quit X11, especially if it's accidental during an active X2go session, then I end up with the problem you are describing and the only option is to restart the whole computer. But if I keep it open, I go for days or weeks without rebooting. Ultimately, I think we should look to move to the PyHoca gui, but we haven't been able to find any serious python developers to port it to OS X. Many people at my work use x2go's Mac client. We have never been able to figure out how to resolve the 'Can't connect to X-Server' error without random acts (eg. rebooting). We are not sure why it comes up. This is what I do: 1. Start X11.app 2. ssh -X remotehost 3. xterm & So far this works, I get an xterm so there is nothing wrong with X11 4. Start X2Go client 5. Start a session (port 22, dsa authentication, Gnome...) 6. Client gives the error and hangs (Abort and Terminate don't do anything) and I have to close the application. The closest we got to figuring it out is that the X11.app possibly changes it's DISPLAY on restarts and perhaps the x2go client is expecting display 0. Is there any more debugging information that I could get from the client to see what exactly it is doing prior to giving the error message? We have tried some of the suggestions in the forums, such as changing permissions in X11.app (this is necessary), starting it manually before starting the client. We have also done things like messed with firewall settings, made sure hostname doesn't change on our laptops between work and home, deleted preference files, delete XAuthority files, etc. What seems to work is rebooting. xming 6.9.0.31 keeps crashing

Hi, I use x2go a lot on Windows, but have noticed that the xming server keeps crashing from time to time, usually when I seem to have firefox open in the session with lots of tabs. It takes me usually some effort to close the tabs, as it keeps crashing and crashing. Is there a workaround for this? This is with X2go client 3.01-2 on Windows. I know this is an old version of X2go, but when trying the new version, they both fail on Linux and Windows with the error "cannot open X screen" or something. (do I have to upgrade the x2go server too, might that be the problem to be able to use the new client? I depend on x2go and use it long hours every day so breakage is annoying) Thanks, Markus

Keyboard layout settings in client not taken into account

Hello, Does X2Go currently map keyboard layouts correctly? The client has a field to set keyboard layout. But changing it to the client machine's layout does not work. The US layout is still active. News on the libcairo problems?

Hi guys, I'm a happy X2go user, using it every day on a Debian (testing) with nightly X2go packages. As many others, since some time I'm hit by the libcairo update and the sluggishness (however this isn't critical for me personally) and, more important to me, the broken glyphs on session resume. I don't want to whine or complain, just ask whether there are any news on this problem. Thanks, Enrico -- Not sent from my smartphone.

Dear all, Today Alex and I could eliminate another bug (introduced by ourselves) in nxagent/x2goagent. A couple of applications had lost their window decorations if the server is Debian wheezy / Ubuntu maverick or newer. Mostly affected were Qt applications. @FreeNX developers: Please note, this bug is also present in current FreeNX nx-X11 code (as found on Launchpad). We have removed the following patch from our patchset to get this fixed: http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=nx-libs.git;a=blob;f=debian/patches-refused/1… Still open issue: Unfortunately, there is still no fix for the resume problem in current nx-X11. The Debian+Ubuntu packages of this NX (redistributed) release are already available in the known (http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/download:start) repositories. Redhat, runlevels and visibility (x2goserver)

Hello, I am using x2go as an alternative to the overpriced commercial product from NoMachine. So far the road has been bumpy. Here is an honest description of problems I encountered when trying to install x2go server on an rhel6 machine: 1) Contrary to debian packeages, the repo to use for rhel 6 is not advertized on the main download page. This leads to attempts to install from source, when a binary package is in fact available. 2) Instructions for installation from source are unclear and outdated. GIT paths no longer work, configuration info is not sufficient etc. 3) Once the repo has been found, and installation does not work out of the box, because no package for fuse-sshfs.x86_64 available on RHEL6. Could you add that package to your repo? 4) Once installation is is complete, several things do not work as expected... 4.1) File permissions are incorrect: sudo: /etc/sudoers.d/x2go is mode 0644, should be 0440 4.2) On a server with gnome installed, but no complete X installation, creating a connection fails (session terminates during session start procedure with no clear error message). It turns out that with X installed and running (runlevel 5) x2go works properly. At runlevel 3, even with all packages installed it does not work. This differs from the free trial version of the commercial NX-server. Is this the way it is supposed to work or is there a service that is required and missing at runlevel 3? 4.3) In the install from source documentation, reference is made to int scripts needed which should run 'x2gocleansessions' in background/daemon mode. No such script is installed but connections still can function (at runlevel 5, see point 4.2 above). The X2Go project is a great initiative and fills a clear need in the community. With a little effort, you could increase your visibility, gain more traction and increase both your user and your developer bases. Regardless.. good work so far. I would appreciate an answer to the runlevel question (point 4.2). With the rest, take it as constructive criticism and act on it as you like. Dear all, The X2Go Project is proud to announce another X2Go component releases: - x2goserver (3.1.1.2) The new X2Go server packages will be available in our stable repositories (Debian, Ubuntu) within the next 24h. This release fixes several issues: (1) x2gocleansessions was broken quite a bit. Crashes occurred when sessions have been found running and x2gocleansessions tried to shut them down. Also the occuring zombie processes caused by x2gocleansessions and observed by some of you should now be gone. (2) With PostgreSQL as session db backend, the display would increment and increment and increment and... (3) Fixes session startup failures with pam_tmpdir.so being in use for user sessions. (4) Mount client-side shares to /tmp/.x2go-<user>/{media,spool,mimebox}. So we reduced this to one location. (5) NX session.log get now written to /tmp/.x2go-<user>/<session.log>. Global Unity bar issue in x2go

Hello List i have upgraded my X2go server and X2go client to the newest versions, as i heard that Ubuntu's Unity interface is now supported. I have stumbled upon an error regarding the top menu in Unity. When i click on a menu item, like the cogwheel used to log out, it disappears when i release the mouse. To use the menus, i have to hold down the mouse button to use them, and release when i am over the desired menu item, like "log out".
