Paul, Unfortunately as a regular user of the Mac X2go client, this is something I've seen many times. Unfortunately, I haven't found any fix for it. The good news is that it rarely happens if you keep the X11 application open. Always open X11 before starting your X2go session. From there, you can stop/start X2go sessions, even the X2go client itself, however I almost always keep my X11 app running even when it's not being uses and then I don't get the problem you are describing. If I quit X11, especially if it's accidental during an active X2go session, then I end up with the problem you are describing and the only option is to restart the whole computer. But if I keep it open, I go for days or weeks without rebooting. Ultimately, I think we should look to move to the PyHoca gui, but we haven't been able to find any serious python developers to port it to OS X. Many people at my work use x2go's Mac client. We have never been able to figure out how to resolve the 'Can't connect to X-Server' error without random acts (eg. rebooting). We are not sure why it comes up. This is what I do: 1. Start X11.app 2. ssh -X remotehost 3. xterm & So far this works, I get an xterm so there is nothing wrong with X11 4. Start X2Go client 5. Start a session (port 22, dsa authentication, Gnome...) 6. Client gives the error and hangs (Abort and Terminate don't do anything) and I have to close the application. The closest we got to figuring it out is that the X11.app possibly changes it's DISPLAY on restarts and perhaps the x2go client is expecting display 0. Is there any more debugging information that I could get from the client to see what exactly it is doing prior to giving the error message? We have tried some of the suggestions in the forums, such as changing permissions in X11.app (this is necessary), starting it manually before starting the client. We have also done things like messed with firewall settings, made sure hostname doesn't change on our laptops between work and home, deleted preference files, delete XAuthority files, etc. What seems to work is rebooting. NX lib path issue prevents Xubuntu 11.10 sessions from starting

I'm using Xubuntu 11.10 and can no longer login after upgrading to a recent stable version of x2goserver. I tried changing my session to open a Terminal instead of starting an X session, then tried to start the X session from the Terminal prompt, and got the following error message: xscreensaver: error while loading shared libraries: libNX_Xext.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory xfce4-session: error while loading shared libraries: libNX_Xext.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory My LD_LIBRARY_PATH was set to just /usr/lib/nx/X11/Xinerama but libNX_Xext.so.6 was in /usr/lib/nx/X11 I added /usr/lib/nx/X11 to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and that seemed to get things working again. Since I am already using a script to set some environment variables in order to get a Xubuntu desktop instead of a plain XFCE one, I just added the LD_LIBRARY_PATH fix to that for now.

Changing X2Go SSH configuration

Hi list, I have been working with x2go to replace my old freenx/PXE Setup. As I use low end thinclients the cpu used for encryption is not that much powerful so I compiled hpn-ssh and made it work with the none cipher. On tests with scp it made a big difference making a file tranfer to go from 58%cpu and 8.5Mb/sec to 33%cpu and 11.6Mb/sec. So now I have to find a way to tell x2go client to use that ssh client instead of the default one, and with my options. But instead I see fixed options that I can't change like: ssh -x -a -oClearAllForwardings=yes -oServerAliveInterval=300 -oCipher=blowfish So... how can I change that?? Thanks in advance Ivan

Call logout script

Hi All: Is there a way to call a logout script (i.e., one that is specific to each user upon ending a session)? In Ubuntu Server 10.4 we've tried various things including .bash_logout and /etc/gdm/PostSession/Default either performing a command or calling .bash_logout. The "/etc/gdm/PostSession/Default" works if we log in directly, so assume this has something to do with xsession(?) and hope there is a way in an x2go session where when the user logs out, a script gets called in the background. PyHoca-Gui in Windows 7 - Not working

I'm experiencing this error as well. i'll attach a log file from one of my login attempts. The attempt was without sound enabled, though. When sound is enabled, it seems that Pulseaudio gets stuck in a loop of some sort, repeating: Feb 27 08:02:07 fleten-01 pulseaudio[29396]: [pulseaudio] main.c: User-configured server at localhost:30002, refusing to start/autospawn. about once every three seconds. X2goserver on Ubuntu 10.04.4 server...can't login.

Hi ! I try x2go on different computer (Ubuntu 11.10 desktop, Debian Squeeze, Debian testing) and all works flawless. But on one server, Ubuntu 10.04.4, I always have this error on the windows client: “The remote proxy closed the connection while negotiating the session. This…” The error in the log: “Loop: PANIC! The remote NX proxy closed the connection. Loop: PANIC! Failure negotiating the session in stage '7'. Loop: PANIC! Wrong version or invalid session authentication cookie.” I try to uninstall and reinstalling several time, but no success. x2gothinclient w/o pxe

Hi all, A cursory reading of the online lit I found relating to x2gothinclient seems to require that the stations all pxeboot... I don't want thinclients that pxeboot.. what I need is a minimal OS that is setup to autologin to X and then pyhoca-cli to the x2go-server... can the x2gothinclient packages do this say on a minimal debian install for the thinclient.. ? Since I did not see this capability, I already built from scratch a minimal Debian 6 that does an autologin into X using gdm/matchbox wm, and then created a script that force loops a username/pw graphical dialog using yad (zenity fork)... suffice it to say this works well... but I'm thinking if x2gothinclient already had the capability to do this then I did it all for nought.. except it was definitely a good exercise... The steps and scripts that I did do make this pxe-less x2g0 thin-client/kiosk follow ... I'm sure this can be quite improved... actually the main thing I'd like to improve is to have the matchbox wm/X on the local thin client be aware when there is no activity in the x2go session, and if no activity, then kill or suspend the pyhoca-cli session, thus going back to the yad login prompt, but I haven't found a way to do this (normal logout of the x2go session of course works fine and brings you back to the yad login prompt)... I think the problem is that matchbox wm/X always thinks there is activity when the x2go session is logged in/active, even when there is no activity in the x2go session itself... Any thoughts on any of the above would be appreciated! Steps/scripts etc for x2g0 thin-client/kiosk: OK so I pretty much used the guide from: http://www.alandmoore.com/blog/2011/11/05/creating-a-kiosk-with-linux-and-x… and went from there... But even without that feature this works real nice as a non-pxe x2go thin-client station. Anyway this is all probably very messy and amateurish, but I am not exactly a programmer or very proficient bash scripter so.. :) Also I might be missing a few steps and if any of the above does not make sense please advise and I'll try to see if I missed something in the steps given above... X2Go TCE with new splash

Hi all, I have added a much nicer boot splash to the X2Go Thin Client Environment. I also added background support for X2Go Client withint the X2Go TCE. (X2Go Client has had the --background option for a long time already, now it is being used within the TCE by default). You have to build your thinclient chroot from scratch (x2gothinclient_create) and run x2gothinclient_preptftpd again. Backup /srv/tftp and /opt/x2gothinclient before doing this. Feature request: Import/export of session profiles

Hello all I'm employed in a small consultancy company, primarily oriented towards privat schools and their IT needs. When we contact a school, we would like to give them a login to a hosted server via x2go, so they can have a taste of the desktop without a big commitment. Try before you buy, if you will The thing is, Schoolboard members, who decide on this, are somewhat hesitant to read through a guide on how to type in the relevant information themselves. It would be easier for them if they could import a session file that we sent along, using the GUI (i think you can already do this from command line. Not sure though) Also, being able to import and export in general just seems like a nice thing to have. How difficult would it be to implement?
