x2gothinclient problems

Hi! I'm a new x2go-user. I tried to install a x2go-server which contains also a netboot image for many thin clients. I followed the documentation of the web page http://www.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:components:tce I get a lot of errors. First of all I observed that the command x2gothinclient_preptftpboot generates a few files which are symlink to other files. These files are not visible by a tftp link (which is the initial step of a net boot). So I have changed the links with hard links. Furthermore the symlink are not corrected. They seem defined with respect the /opt/x2gothinclient/chroot directory. With the hard links the thin client boots correctly and the x2gothinclient program starts. But when I try to connect to my x2goserver I get an error message like this: proxy problem etc ... In the server side in the file /var/log/auth.log I get the following message When I use an installed debian distribution with the x2go client I get access to the x2goserver. Kde4 and Plasma Mess - Is anyone working with it?

Hi dear, Fellows. i've been working with x2go for some time, but now i'm entrenched with KDE4 after many years with KDE3 running great with nomachine. KDE4 is still a mess nowadays. As anybody knows KDE4 has lots of problems with sizing and resizing of plasma panels, screen geometry and other stuff as usal. So i had to code lots of scripts that take use of x2goserver-run-extensions: What these scripts do is resize the plasma-panel and resize the screen geometry when resuming a session in case of the resuming is done in another Desktop or laptop with a change in resolution. My problem is that for plasma to assume the new resolution you have to kill it and start-it once again after you change plasma-desktop-appletsrc with the new values. So, when you do this after resuming the session, every time you move/maximize/minimize a window they slow to a crawl. How to test/reproduce this sympton. If you have a x2goserver installed with a kde4 session, kubuntu or other, start a session, go to konsole and do: kquitapp plasma-desktop && plasma-desktop & after plasma start if you try to move any window around everything will be allright and fast as before. After that do the same thing but after a x2gosuspend and in a runing resumed session try to move your konsole window around the desktop, it will lag like hell. If you this on a real display on your laptop, or in a running session everything will run fast as before. P.S: i'm sending this same email to both user & dev mailing list. Compositing, Saving Sessions - xfce

I am not able to make compositing work in xfce. No transparency, shadowing, etc. Not even the needed settings. I'm thinking it has to do with this in .xsession-x2go-errors: xfwm4-WARNING **: The display does not support the XComposite extension. Is there some way I can make this work? Also my xfce sessions are not being saved when I terminate an x2go window. I suspect this is because X is crashing on logout before the session can be saved. Has anyone had this experience? Laptop to Server keyboard map doesn't work

I have x2go installed on a server system, a desktop and a laptop. All using 3.99.2.2, all running Linux Mint (Ubuntu variant). When I connect from the desktop to the server, the keyboard maps just fine - all keys work as expected. When I connect from the laptop to the server however, the keyboard map is messed up - home/end keys don't work, arrow keys map to other random keys etc. I cannot figure out why this is happening, and no combination of the x2go keyboard settings seems to change the result. I have noticed when connecting from the laptop to the server if I check the keyboard map when connected I get "null". Trying to change it results in an error from the keyboard daemon for changing the xkbmap. Is there anything I can do to try and debug this? It seems very odd that it goes so wrong from computer, but is perfectly fine from another, since the keyboards on both are configured to use the same generic 105-key layout.

x2gognomebindings package installation on ubuntu 12.04 fails

I just installed x2go on a clean ubuntu 12.04 "precise" install. The installation of the package x2gognomebindings fails with an error. Luckily the workaround on John Wesoricks page works: sudo cp /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-settings-x2go.menu /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-settings.menu sudo apt-get install x2gognomebindings As the bug is known since November 2011 I would be grateful if whoever maintains the package would fix this. thanks a lot, Mark

multiple Connections with same name/ip

Inside the vpn the terminalservers name is allways kmux-svc and his ip is allways the same. If i try to connect to the second kmux-svc i'll get the message that the host key did change and i have to remove it from the key-file than the new one is entered. Could you please give me an idea how to obtain such a setup without manually editing the ssh stuff? Thanks, this works. But I've never used XFCE before, and read on the listserv that starting it in x2go a certain way results in low-quality graphics. Questions on possible setups and use cases

Hi list I'm a newbie on x2go. I tried to find some answers in the wiki and the docs but I have still some questions: First of all, I found the mail archive; is there also a searchable archive like nabble or so? I was able to setup the x2go-server and also to connect with a single windows xp-laptop, so this went fine. Basically, I try to determine if x2go suits our needs and what setup would be needed for it: We have an application server (Ubuntu 10.04) and we need to bring some of the applications on this server in a windows 2008 terminal server environment. So my questions are: Will the client work on window terminal without conflicts between the different users? Is it possible to have sessions to different applications for the same user? We have about 100 potential users, about 10-20 concurrently working with about 100-200 sessions a day. Is it possible to estimate on the resources that are needed on the server?
