AD integration?

Hello, I have been researching various options and it seems that x2go is preferable as it is based on nx and is actively developed. I want to try it out, however just had a quick question on AD integration. I understand there is this ldap option for the client, however, what about just joining the host server to a domain using likewise or centrify, and then once confirmed that users can log in via console and ssh with AD, can we not use the x2go client to log in as AD user? x2go Plugin

Hi All - Is anyone using the x2go plugin? We tried to get it running, have a web server set up, but the plugin links on the website seem to be "in transition". Does anyone have experience using the plugin, and have a copy (not sure that last request makes sense) we could get? Thanks!

Printing Security

Hi All - There is a post on the new site re printing security (see below). Does anyone have experience with Possible Solution 1? We're hoping to get a few more pointers, maybe some extra documentation, some "here's how you avoid these pitfalls". Thanks! X2goServer == CUPS Server, latest implementation (as of 20110909): cups-x2go CUPS backend runs as root as root the backend launches x2goprint (without sudo!!!) x2goprint script changes owner ship of PDF file and pushes it into SSHFS share towards the X2go client. using X2go printing locally (X2go server == CUPS server) then security (sudo) is not an issue any more(?) Nope still is (not a big one, though): Using CUPS the user can easily be faked, allowing to fill someone else's quota or print at their home printer. X2goServer != CUPS Server: The Cups-server connects the x2go-Server as x2goprint-user using ssh-key auth. x2goprint-user executes sudo to change the ownership of the PDF file and pushes it into SSHFS share towards the X2go client. This script can currently be exploited. If someone becomes x2goprint he might become root. Possible solution 1 Start a local cups-server for every user Server listens on a File-socket owned by the user Add a PDF-Printer to that server (as the cups-user runs as that user, there should be no issues with file permissions) Import printers from global server + Secure solution, as no other user is involved - Every user needs an extra instance (The extra memory usage should not be too much) Possible solution 2 Write a simple C-Program 'x2goprinter' that is run as the user who wants to print unsing the s-Bit The Program writes stdin to argv[1] in the printing-directory It also checks whether the user is x2goprint or root + Can be easily adopted - x2goprint must be installed by the client - s-bit → Needs security checks

libjpeg-turbo use with X2GO

Hi, Anybody try to configure for example ubutu to configure x2goserver to use libjpeg-tubro ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/libjpeg-turbo/ ) instead libjpeg ? I have read that for example OpenNX client for neatx or freenx server recommend to use this because libjpeg-turbo have speed improvement than standard libjpeg and it will be use full to reduce transfer for x2go session. I don't know how to configure (or is it possible?) x2goserver on ubutu to use libjpeg-turbo Regards

How to disable file share

Hi, How to disable file sharing ? is it possible configure x2goserver to disable file share from x2goclient ? because I don't want to get access users for transfer files to my system by remote access use x2go. Regards

Why doesn't x2go support ecdsa certificates?

I was attempting to use x2go for the first time and ran into the issue where I already had made an existing connection to my target machine using a current OpenSSH connection. This creates the existing default ecdsa certificate in the known_hosts file and somehow breaks x2go. I found a few posts on how to fix this at http://john.wesorick.com/2011/11/issues-installing-x2go.html and https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/x2go-user/2011-October/000448.html, but my question is why doesn't x2go support any certificate type that the underlying SSH client supports? Or why can't it just request the other type of connection and then offer to store the new key? Also I didn't see a bug section on your website so I'm not sure who best to send this to, but the related error dialog needs some clean up. The title has "Authentification" which I've never heard of before. I'd assume it should be "Authentication". And the text inside the dialog has a number of spaces missing that make it look odd. Some that should be between words, and others between words and punctuation. If I knew where to look I'd be happy to edit the source file and pass along the fixed version to someone who knew how to submit it properly. Thanks for your time, Joe

Excessive bandwidth usage

Hi, I've been monitoring my bandwidth usage on a Windows client, connected to a Ubuntu x2go server. For me it's about the same as plain X forwarding (something like 10-20MB for a KDE session startup). On http://www.nomachine.com/documentation/building-components.php, they claim this should be closer to 35KB. I have my jpeg compression set to the minimum possible quality, and have selected "modem" connection. I am using the latest PPA update on server side, and the late December build on the Windows client. What am I missing? Dave Friberg phone: (402) 957-2480

how to completely remove/purge and reinstall

I have been using x2goserver on one ubuntu 10.10 machine and accessing that from two other ubuntu 10.10 machines on the same LAN using x2goclient for many months with no issues. Late last year I started having issues reconnecting to existing sessions. I would like to remove/purge and reinstall everything to see if that clears my issues. What I have done so far is as follows, need I do anything else? server: apt-get remove --purge x2goserver rm -rf ~/.x2go ps -ef | grep x2go, then kill all processes listed apt-get install x2goserver clients: apt-get remove --purge x2goclient rm -rf ~/.x2go rm -rf ~/.x2goclient ps -ef | grep x2go, then kill all processes listed apt-get install x2goclient I tried the above and I get the same reconnection issues with my new installs. I'm hoping there is something I am missing that needs to be deleted/purged/uninstalled. FWIW, my reconnection issues are a seemingly random number of the following messages before I am able to reconnect to an existing session: X2Go - 53 The connection with the remote server was shut down. Please check the state of your network connection. Error Connection failed channel_open_session failed - Writing packet: error on socket (or connection closed): Success If I try long enough (sometimes more than 10 time) the connection will eventually succeed.
