To pertain the former 3.4.0.x versions on packages.x2go.org (main) and on Launchpad (ppa:x2go/stable) I have moved packages appropriately. The 3.5.x versions of NX libs + proxy + x2goagent (later today or tomorrow, at the latest on Saturday) will be in the nightly builds only for quite a while, only. This code will be for our upcoming Baikal release and it is still in heavy testing state (esp. x2goagent). Problems with ssh keys and intermediate ssh hop

Hi (especially Mike :) ), we're currently evaluating x2go on debian squeeze (server) / ubuntu natty (client). Basic functionality works, but some of our users will need access via an intermediate ssh hop. Now if the x2go clients (I tested x2goclient and pyhoca-gui) would honour ~/.ssh/config, I could simply roll out a ProxyCommand line, but so I have to resolve to setting up the relevant tunnels manually. pyhoca claims to have some support for intermediate hops, but I was not able to use it in any understandable way. What's the recommended way to achieve this feature? Also, pyhoca-gui was not able to accept my rsa private key and claims it's a invalid dsa key (which is correct but not helpful ;) ). If any of this is wrongly adressed here, please point me to the correct place. Mac client printing

Hello, all. We suddenly have a number of Mac client users. We do understand that sound will not work because there is no pulseaudio for Mac. However, printing is not working either. We have gotten it to work in the past by enabling remote access (sshd in effect). However, we have done that on the last three Mac clients and it has not worked. We have gotten error messages that sshd is not running and yet we have started the service. As most of us here are Mac ignoramuses, any idea why this is not working and how we fix it? Thanks - John

Authentication failed with correct password

Hello, I am trying to login to a host in my local network, but it does not work. The strange thing is, that I can login with SSH without any problem. Same user, same machine. The server is Debian Lenny, the client Debian Squeeze. Installed x2goclient on Fedora 15

Hello. I wanted to try Gnome3 with Gnome Shell and couldn't make it work on Debian, so I installed Fedora 15. AFAIK there are no x2go client packages for Fedora, but there are packages for Mandriva. Getting them to install on Fedora wasn't that difficult, I've documented it here: http://wiki.x2go.org/installing_x2goclient_fedora Please note that there is no support - from me or anyone else - on this. That said, it worked pretty much out of the box. Cheers, Daniel

Ubuntu Natty X2go client

All, I know Mike got X2go server running on Ubuntu 11.04 Natty. I haven't been able to do that yet but that's not my particular concern at the moment. I was wondering if anybody has used X2go client (either standard GTK client or Py Hoca) on an Ubuntu Natty desktop machine. I am trying to use Py Hoca client right now on my Natty computer, but when I launch PyHoca I get: administrator@ubuntu-kiosk-7:~$ pyhoca-gui pyhoca-gui[5662] (PyHoca-GUI) WARN: the current release of PyHoca-GUI does not support client configuration The logo pops up in the middle of the screen, but then nothing shows up anywhere. I see the process running, but I can't find any icon indicating it's running. Has anyone tried this successfully? Thanks, Neil

Installation on multiple nodes

Hi, I tried the installation of x2go on Debian Squeeze, with the repository. With one serveur, it works, but I would install it on multiple servers. The documentation explained how to do it, using LDAP (but it was not up to date, packages like x2goldaptools does not exist anymore), the page of the wiki about it is now removed. Hi What I can contribute is that I have been using X2go for more than 6 months now and very successfully. I run the server on Debian Squeeze (and Lenny before) and connect to it from Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04 and Debian Squeeze (Laptops). So far I have had some issues, but it is very stable. So stable in fact that I am often working remotely on my server at home (connect over the internet via SSH). Resuming works almost always and I have to say, I am surprised how well it works. I would like to extend my congratulations and thanks for this nice piece of software to you developers! I have used Nxserver and NXfree (or freenx, I always confuse them) and that used to work much worse, with suspending and resuming spotty at best. (I have to admit that this does not comment the commercial version of NXserver, which must be much better I am sure) It is unfortunate that you have having so much trouble getting it to work, I can relate to this, as your question indicates, like "is this working ANYWHERE?" and yes it does, very well. So I am sure there must be some way that you can get it to work. But when it comes to open source, yes, the documentation can be lacking and sometimes it takes a long time and strains the patience. What I can say is that it is worth the work, since the software works very nice and I am glad that finally I can use my server at home as the unlimited (no more 2 or 3 user limit) terminal server that I have always wanted. Even audio forwarding works (on Windows, so I can hear the pulseaudio on my server session, EVEN THOUGH I have Jackd audio deamon running on it. How this can work is beyond me, a positive surprise to be sure. And filesharing works also. I also understand and write German, but I understand that this mailing list should be kept in English, so I hope you can understand me. I know that my configuration is kinda simplified, as I am not using LDAP or any kind of complex user authentication mechanism. It might be easier to get it working simple, before trying to tacke these. The repository that I am using currently are these, just in case this helps: deb http://x2go.obviously-nice.de/deb/ lenny main (I actually went to my open terminal session window and copy pasted it (even this works)) As you see, I am still using the lenny repository (in case there is a newer one) and use the server and here are the packages that I have currently installed: pinentry-x2go install pinentry-x2go-gtk install x2goagent install x2gocdmanager install x2goclient install x2goclient-cli install x2goclient-gtk install x2gokdebindings install x2goserver install x2goserver-home install x2goserver-one install x2gospyglass install x2gousbmount install Just in case this helps... as you can see I am using the x2goserver-home or one version which is simplified without all the bells of whistles of authentication, if I understand it correctly. I remember one issue that I had was about Xming not running in Windows (which is the component that acts as Xserver). In my case it was not started automatically. Another thing is my /etc/sudoers config ### X2GO section %x2gousers ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/x2gopgwrapper #### X2GOPRINT section x2goprint ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/x2goprint And I remember having an issue with that. These settings might be too insecure for your taste, but it is easiest to first open things up and circle the problem wide, to see where it is located at. Hope this helps.. Markus
