Paul, Unfortunately as a regular user of the Mac X2go client, this is something I've seen many times. Unfortunately, I haven't found any fix for it. The good news is that it rarely happens if you keep the X11 application open. Always open X11 before starting your X2go session. From there, you can stop/start X2go sessions, even the X2go client itself, however I almost always keep my X11 app running even when it's not being uses and then I don't get the problem you are describing. If I quit X11, especially if it's accidental during an active X2go session, then I end up with the problem you are describing and the only option is to restart the whole computer. But if I keep it open, I go for days or weeks without rebooting. Ultimately, I think we should look to move to the PyHoca gui, but we haven't been able to find any serious python developers to port it to OS X. Many people at my work use x2go's Mac client. We have never been able to figure out how to resolve the 'Can't connect to X-Server' error without random acts (eg. rebooting). We are not sure why it comes up. This is what I do: 1. Start X11.app 2. ssh -X remotehost 3. xterm & So far this works, I get an xterm so there is nothing wrong with X11 4. Start X2Go client 5. Start a session (port 22, dsa authentication, Gnome...) 6. Client gives the error and hangs (Abort and Terminate don't do anything) and I have to close the application. The closest we got to figuring it out is that the X11.app possibly changes it's DISPLAY on restarts and perhaps the x2go client is expecting display 0. Is there any more debugging information that I could get from the client to see what exactly it is doing prior to giving the error message? We have tried some of the suggestions in the forums, such as changing permissions in X11.app (this is necessary), starting it manually before starting the client. We have also done things like messed with firewall settings, made sure hostname doesn't change on our laptops between work and home, deleted preference files, delete XAuthority files, etc. What seems to work is rebooting. x2go Client on Mac OS X Lion (10.7) [Workaround]

Dear all, i've updated to MacOS X Lion and get the known Problem that "Rosetta" is needed. Aber i type in my username and password it shown "connecting" and the x2go client freezes and after some time (more or less a minute) the x2go window is closed and a mac system message says the application was closed and i can show the detail information of the problem or send a report to apple. Background image in x2goclient on tce

Hello, is it possible to customize the background image of the x2goclient running on tce? I am not talking about the splash screen in grub (which users never get to see if the thin clients are on), but the background shown at the session login screen. Thank you! Jean

Automatic mounting of USB drives

Hello, I know that it is possible to share folders from the client (such as a plugged in USB drive) with the remote session prior to logging into the session. I would like to know if there is a mechanism by which USB drives mount automatically in the remote session when plugged into the client, while the session is already up? Jean

New user unable to connect from x2goclient on thin client

Hello, I have been using freenx for a few years, and have been looking for something better since freenx is no longer maintained and sound support is shaky. I was very glad to find the x2go project, specially since it works exactly like I imagine with diskless thin clients (I have to use USB sticks to boot my current clients for freenx). Anyway, after being somewhat confused by the outdated info and repositories listed on x2go.org, I found the wiki and was able to install x2goserver (onto Ubuntu ) and configure a PXE thin client environment. To my surprise, the thin clients booted on the first attempt and x2goclient came up, which was very unexpected! Now I have the following problem: - I can login without problem from a windows x2goclient onto my ubuntu x2goserver - however any attempt to login from the pxe booted thin clients fails. The client displays (after starting nxproxy 3.5) Connecting to remote host 'localhost:33001' And then Connection timeout aborting On the server I find these logs: /usr/bin/x2goagent: line 1: -e: command not found NXAGENT - Version 3.4.0 Copyright (C) 2001, 2007 NoMachine.
