Paul, Unfortunately as a regular user of the Mac X2go client, this is something I've seen many times. Unfortunately, I haven't found any fix for it. The good news is that it rarely happens if you keep the X11 application open. Always open X11 before starting your X2go session. From there, you can stop/start X2go sessions, even the X2go client itself, however I almost always keep my X11 app running even when it's not being uses and then I don't get the problem you are describing. If I quit X11, especially if it's accidental during an active X2go session, then I end up with the problem you are describing and the only option is to restart the whole computer. But if I keep it open, I go for days or weeks without rebooting. Ultimately, I think we should look to move to the PyHoca gui, but we haven't been able to find any serious python developers to port it to OS X. Many people at my work use x2go's Mac client. We have never been able to figure out how to resolve the 'Can't connect to X-Server' error without random acts (eg. rebooting). We are not sure why it comes up. This is what I do: 1. Start X11.app 2. ssh -X remotehost 3. xterm & So far this works, I get an xterm so there is nothing wrong with X11 4. Start X2Go client 5. Start a session (port 22, dsa authentication, Gnome...) 6. Client gives the error and hangs (Abort and Terminate don't do anything) and I have to close the application. The closest we got to figuring it out is that the X11.app possibly changes it's DISPLAY on restarts and perhaps the x2go client is expecting display 0. Is there any more debugging information that I could get from the client to see what exactly it is doing prior to giving the error message? We have tried some of the suggestions in the forums, such as changing permissions in X11.app (this is necessary), starting it manually before starting the client. We have also done things like messed with firewall settings, made sure hostname doesn't change on our laptops between work and home, deleted preference files, delete XAuthority files, etc. What seems to work is rebooting. no session resume

Hello, I'm using the x2goserver (latest version) on a virtual xen machine running an LMDE desktop. The strange behavior is that the x2go sessions are never resumed but whenever I login, a new session is created and all programs have to be started again. The client is a Windows XP PC, and it makes no difference whether I use the windows client or the pyhoca gui to connect. Can anybody tell me what is going wrong here? Regards, Ralph

Single applications client fail to start up

Hi All, Both on server and client I use deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/x2go/ppa/ubuntu oneiric main Normal full desktops clients running fine but all single applications fail to run. The connection is build up but the client window will not show up. Pyhoca-gui always fail to start the window both desktops and single applications (the connection builds up and is running) What can be the problem? looking at my previous mentioned problem, is the oneiric version running OK? for people at all? or is it my instalation? I have a problem in sharing a client directory to the server instance, mounting fails both on server and client I use deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/x2go/ppa/ubuntu oneiric main openssh 1:5.8p1-7ubuntu1 (Dis)Connection to the server is going fine (not always) but when I share a local directory the remote desktop is working but the mount always fails mentioned in the syslog. x2go Mac Client: cannot connect to multiple servers at the same time

Hi, with the standard Mac OSX client, I find that it does not allow opening more than one connection (to multiple servers) at the same time. Failure - Server Key

Just reinstalled Debian on the backup server, but now can't get into it with x2go. Gives a popup that says, "The host key for this server was not found but an othertype of key exists.An attacker might change the default server key toconfuse your client into thinking the key does not exist." Doing a search, no one seems to have had this problem before. Any ideas?

Forward USB using USB IP

Hi x2go folks, this topic already last year: http://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/x2go-dev/2010-September/001087.html Recent linux kernel provide support for USB forwarding over IP (kernel config: CONFIG_USB_IP_COMMON/CONFIG_USB_IP_HOST). Has anyone tried to make use of this feature in conjunction with x2go? Of course xygo *does* provide support for usb mass storage and printers. But usbip appears to be a low level devices driver that should support almost any device types. Integration with x2go should not be too hard as x2go already supports secure portforward/tunneling which is required by usbib (in untrusted environments).
