Hi Mike#2,
we've occasionally talked about it before, and I would like to discuss it in public now, so I'm drawing in x2go-project.
A lot of us are frustrated with the user experience of our BTS.
Has anybody used http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phabricator before?
Quote: "Phabricator is a suite of web-based software development collaboration tools, including the Differential code review tool, the Diffusion repository browser, the Herald change monitoring tool, the Maniphest bug tracker and the Phriction wiki. Phabricator integrates with Git, Mercurial, and Subversion."
It would be nice to know if this suite would suit us - especially, if Maniphest turns out to be an easier-to-use bugtracker that still has some kind of "advanced" mode that can be interacted with via e-mail, just like our current BTS.
Input, volunteers, opinions, anyone?

I thought Mihai was setting up a web-based suite of tools that includes a bug/issue tracker.
Personally I like redmine, which libssh has been using, because it lets you convert tickets back and forth between "Bug", "Support", and "Feature". There's nothing more insulting than "CLOSED NOTABUG" when a user reports a bug, but it turns out to be a badly needed small feature or a support request. However, I am not insisting we use Redmine by any means. http://www.redmine.org/
I will look into Phabricator later. That said, I looked into it a little bit, and the variety of supported authentication methods looks awesome. Hopefully they are easy to setup. Screenshot: http://imgur.com/qeE90gt

Wait, was I hallucinating things? Did I talk to Mihai when I thought I was talking to you? *confused look*
Mihai, I don't want you to feel left out, so please comment as well.

The general idea was to use Gitlab as both a nice graphical UI for git and an issue tracker.
I have also heard good things Phabricator from a FreeBSD developer in another channel, though. He was really enthusiastic about it.
However, Heinz felt very strongly about postponing the issue until the next developer meeting: http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/2015-03:day-2015-03-12 (search for "BTS".)
That's why it's all still TBD and I can't go ahead setting anything up.
(Despite being kind of busy myself with RPM build script fixes, X2Go Client OS X fixes, NX fixes, ... so I wasn't too adverse to waiting.)

Please let us discuss this topic in a developer meeting. There are a lot of people affected by the choice of a bugtracker. A choice should be based on knowledge and experience of all people involved.
As Alex is not reachable for the next two weeks - would it be possible to prepare a new developer meeting for April, 17th an include the issues of the last update and a presentation of all possible choices of Bugtrackers?

Right... it's normally unlikely I can't attend, but I'd still like to know the actual time of a meeting at least one day in advance.

Dear Developers,
I would recommend to set the date of the next developer meeting at the end of the current one!
I'll be always available every 2nd. Thursday / Month. On Thursdays two weeks after the 2nd one, I can offer some time too.
Right... it's normally unlikely I can't attend, but I'd still like to know the actual time of a meeting at least one day in advance.

@Mike: I was awaiting some response I didn't get.
@All: The time of the meeting was not wisely chosen (17th) and seems to cause problems for you. I'll setup a wiki doodle for the 23th which is a Thursday as described above. I still will be available on this Friday for X2Go tasks and communication (2pm WET).
Regards,
Heinz
