Hi Mike
The git hooks directory and all files therein are currently owned by root. I cannot change these files as x2go-admin.
What do you propose to fix this issue?

This said, I think the git hooks would fit nicely into the new "maintenancescripts" repository I created some time back.
I have put them in there and edited them to fit most of the already announced changes.
I cannot check a copy out on ymir as x2go-admin (x2go-admin's key is not x2go's authorized_keys file.)
Please check out maintenancescripts.git in ~/ as x2go-admin. Then, you can symlink ~/maintenancescripts/git/hooks to /srv/git/_hooks_ (or change that to _hooks_x2go_ and I will change the X2Go git repositories to use the new place, so that your other projects can still use your old scripts.)

On the folder /srv/git/_hooks_ I cannot grant root access.

However, I have copied that folder to /srv/git/code.x2go.org and also
checked that you can modify the symbolic links in
/srv/git/code.x2go.org/*.git/hooks/.
This should enable you to modify the hook symlinks and let them point
to files in /srv/git/code.x2go.org/_hooks_/.
Does that help?
And yes, committing that stuff and your changes to the new
maintenancescripts.git is great.
