Are there any code changes to the version of vcxsrv shipped in X2Go client for Windows?
Thanks.

I don't think so. Why?

We have a user who it having difficulty with their X2Go session hanging regularly while running Firefox when connected from Windows (but not from their Linux machines). I'd like to test using a separate vcxsrv install via the Options -> Settings -> X.Org configuration to see if that makes any difference. It seems to mostly work but also seems a little flaky.
Also, is unchecking the "start X-Server on X2Go Client start" supposed to work? Is there an advantage to one mode over the other?

Hi!
I just stumbled across this bug/bugfix for the clipboard in VcXsrv:
https://sourceforge.net/p/vcxsrv/bugs/114/
Was wondering if it also might explain the longstanding (and quite annoying) bug in the x2go windows client where the clipboard fails after a while? If so, perhaps updating VcXsrv could fix it?
Best,
Pär Larsson, Sweden
Reposting the url for the vcxsrv bugfix. My email client modified the link in the last email.

Thanks for pointing that out. However, I am using VcXsrv with x2go on Windows with a current build of nx. I see a broken clipboard regularly but I can fix it every time by selecting on the opposite side of the selection (select something on Windows if the previous selection was in x2go and vice versa). Then it starts to work again. However, if we could get rid of broken clipboards I'd appreciate it anyway.
I think we should try to make marha release a new version onv vcxsrv with the patch included. That one can then be included in a new release of x2goclient (don't know about any plans) and/or deployed separately if by users.

As someone who used to maintain our own builds of VcXsrv for the X2Go project, that is the correct course of action.

I have recently seen that connecting using vcxsrv 1.20.14.0 takes much longer that with 1.20.9.0. With 1.20.14. I have days where x2goclient reports failure to start vcxsrv on every attempt (probably because it takes too long). In that situation 1.20.9.0 works flawlessly. So maybe you should try a downgrade, too.

AFAIU you'll have one X server in that case instead of a new one for every connection. So it _might_ save some RAM. Also connections will probably come up quicker since there's no need to start the X server.

Thanks for the info. Any chance that this issue has been reported to vcxsrv?

FYI: I confirmed that we are using 1.20.6.0 unmodified.
