Hello guys
Recently I've found this piece of software which is really missing. Previously I've played with nomachine stuff but it is not fully free. I would like to help with creating packages for Fedora. There is only x2goclient-cli command-line (not finished yet)
I've tried it in Ubuntu but I'm little bit confused with too many packages there. Have you any suggestion how to split it to packages?
And what is necessary for server part and which version you suppose to use for build like this (latest or older)?
Thanks
Pavel

Nice to hear ;-)

Only the package "x2goserver".
The packages x2goserver-home (for Ubuntu) and x2goserver-one (for Debian) provide only an "easy setup script".
You can live without the administration packages and setup scripts.
and which version you suppose to use for build like this (latest or older)?
I use "latest", and I don't see problems.
The future of the x2goclient-gtk client is unsure, it is likely that it will be dropped. A new version of x2goclient (QT based) is developed at the moment, with very interesting new futures like native session shadowing.

Hi Pavel,
I noticed (just as you did, probably) that it's quite a big list of seperate packages. How about we co-maintain them? I've already submitted a review request for the QT client. If you each take picks, things might go a lot faster. I'm a little reluctant about reviewing eachother's packages, since we both have the same interest, so let's leave the reviews to somebody else.
Let me know what you think :)

Léon

Let me know what you think :) I want to start with this:
x2goserver - x2goserver (daemon and tools)
and then one of these: x2goserver-home - x2goserver-one (One Node Edition - for single server usage) x2goserver-one - x2goserver-one (One Node Edition - for single server usage)
After that I will see how it goes.
I hope I will have some time during weekend, I'm little bit busy now.
Thanks for cooperation :-)

Hello Pavel, Hello Leon,
I just want you to know that x2goserver-home and -one are Metapackages - I don't know the analogy for RPM. This means those packages are only used for configuration. x2goserver-one is doing exact what you need to do yourself, when you install x2goserver manually (like in the debian manual described). There is only one thing you should keep care of - the x2goserver configuration done by the scripts are changing the default value of the db store type. So if you wan't to use also sqlite as database, you should have a look in the /etc/x2go/sql file and set the only entry to "sqlite".
best wishes,
Heinz
hello, after a long silence, we give you some infos. we have installed in cameroon limbe an x2go network in a school (Presbytarian Girl's Secondary School). this school has 800 students and have a computer lab, but most of the computers are bad. we were asked to help: so we build a x2go network, with a server (1.5 gb ram) and 4 thin clients (5 watts low power computers). as you can see on our internet page, we could connect other computers of this computer lab, so we could make a network with 11 working places. (it is anyway not much for a school with 800 students, but better than nothing) the server has ubuntu 9.10 as basis and we load x2go-home. we need memory, most of our machine has 512 mb ram or 1 gb ram switch or hub and especially help, material as moral...
thanks
