Hey Klaus,
unfortunately KDE5 is not supported by the current nx version: https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/doc:de-compat

I uninstalled the binary NVIDIA driver 384.59 and then x2go works as before. Only VESA drivers are installed because nouveau does not recognize my graphics card in the version provided by Debian stretch. Of course running with the VESA drivers is not an option and only for testing. So it has to do with the current Debian plasma-desktop 5.8.6-1 *and* with the NVIDIA drivers.
Maybe someone with a newer plasma-desktop and a NVIDIA graphics card can test this? Ubuntu "zesty" or "artful" do provide newer plasma packages.

This page has been updated on 2017-08-13 to say ---8<------8<------8<------8<------8<--- KDE 5: We have received several reports that KDE 5 now works with X2Go, even though it takes a long time to initialize the session. If you're interested in running KDE 5 via X2Go and run into issues, please join the X2Go-User Mailing List or, if you are certain you've found a bug, subscribe to X2Go-Dev and file a bug report. ---8<------8<------8<------8<------8<---
So it's not like KDE5 isn't supported at all - it's just that we don't fully understand (yet) why it suddenly started to work "on its own", without anyone of us making any conscious code change in the stable tree that could have caused this - and, of course, startup times of KDE5 via X2Go are slow, as described above.

Hey,
oh okay great - didnt read that latest update. Tested it on my development server but didn't work on ubuntu 16.04 - still just crashing/black screen.
Do you have the information on which operating system KDE5 was able to start?
Best Regards, Florian Wicke

Do you have the information on which operating system KDE5 was able to start? According to the thread "It might be that we already have KDE5/Plasma support ..." over on X2Go-User, we have several confirmed reports involving Debian 9 (with X2Go stable as well as heuler), and one for FC26.
Kind Regards, Stefan Baur

If the Plasma working after deinstallation of nvidia driver, maybe problem is with opengl libs delivered by nvidia? In this case we could apparently use X2go with nvidia drivers setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to legacy OpenGL libraries.
