Hallo,
ich bin ein absoluter Neuling hier und hab mir auf Ubuntu 9.10 x2go-home installiert. Leider kann ich mich über den client nicht einloggen. Die Fehlermeldung lautet
"The remote proxy closed the connection while negotiating the session. This may be due to the wrong authentication credentials passed to the server.".

This error occurs indeed if your password is not typed in correctly. I
sometimes also get this error (no idea why...), even if I am really
sure that I typed my pw in correctly... But this error should not be
permanent and it occurs rather rarely.
On your x2goserver system take a look at /var/log/auth.log while you
try to login.
As well the client as the x2goserver produces log output in your local
and your remote home dir (~/.x2go). Also check output and information
there...

Maybe you should clean up the sessions
(C-<uid>-<displayno>-<long-alnum-string>) in your remote ~/.x2go dir.
In a nutshell:
watch /var/log/auth.log clear local .x2go dir clear remote .x2go dir look at individual session logs in .x2go (remotely+locally) post your insights
Normal x2goserver-home works out of the box on Ubuntu karmic (my
experience). Do you have a firewall running? Any other tweaks /
differences from a standard ubuntu desktop?

Sorry for the post in German. The password error message is different, I tried that. I am not aware of any other differences to a normal 9.10 apart from the ssh port. The first ssh contact appears to work. I am asked if the ssh host key is not verified.

On the x2goclient: what OS do you use? Do you have an SSH server on
the client system running? AFAIK Ubuntu Desktop comes without
openssh-server package by default. You need a client-side SSH daemon
for pulseaudio and cups-x2go to work properly.
The first ssh contact appears to work. I am asked if the ssh host key is not verified.
This means that you can SSH from client to server... please clarify if
you can reverse-SSH from server to client...

What is running on port 30002 on your client system??? Send ,,lsof -i
-n'' output...
What is your x2goservers SSH port (it should not be around 30001, 30002 etc.)
Are you maybe trying to x2go to localhost??? I am not sure if that's
supported... Try connecting between two different machines (or VMs)...

since kde4 there is no more debian/ubuntu package called kcontrol. The
replacement of kcontrol in kde4 is called systemsettings (name of the
.deb package).
I am not sure enough if the admin GUIs will plug into systemsettings
in the same way as they do with kcontrol. If so, the developers might
provide a package update with the respective dependencies.
For you a work-around could be to provide a dummy kcontrol package
with equivs-build (check equivs package on Ubuntu/Debian), just to
satisfy dependencies in the x2go packages. However, this is untested...

Is this ff plugin ready fore use. I learned about it at a talk by Heinz Graesing (2010-05-28), but I couldn't find a place to download it.

I managed to solve the dependency problem by creating a meta package. However, most admin tools are not working because x2goldaptools.conf is missing. There might be no such file as I am running only a x2go-one server. I'll figure that out when I try a full x2go server installation someday.

We're still working on the plugin. It is mostly ready for usage, but there are still some things that needs to be done (Windows Fullscreen, setting executable flag on Linux,...). The plugin may change in future, because we are evaluating the usage of QtPlugin.

You don't need the Kcontrol Plugins, but you'll really need the x2goldaptools to access the whole functionality of x2go. We are still discussing the future or this tools (maybe in favour of a web api).
