[X2Go-Announcement] New X2Go releases: x2goserver, x2goclient, nx-libs, x2godesktopsharing, x2golxdebindings, x2goplasmabindings, pinentry-x2go
Dear all,
The X2Go Project is proud to announce a couple of new X2Go component releases:
- X2Go Server (4.0.0.0)
- X2Go Client (4.0.0.1)
- NX (redistributed), Version 3.5.0.17
- X2Go Desktop Sharing (3.1.0.6)
- X2Go LXDE Bindings (1.0.1.3)
- Plasma Widget for X2Go (3.0.1.5)
- Pinentry for X2Go (0.7.5.6)All new packages are already available in our stable repositories
(Debian, Ubuntu). The Windows version of X2Go Client will be built
and provided on http://code.x2go.org/releases/ within the next
couple of days. With a little fortune we will also be able to provide
an X2Go Client .dmg Image for Mac OS X.
As you might have noticed we have bumped the version numbers of X2Go
Server and X2Go Client to 4.0.0.x. These versions will be the basis
for an upcoming bundle release (with long term support) of compatible
X2Go components.
As you can also see from the changelog entry of NX (redistributed),
there has been quite some packaging work been done on that project.
However, there also is a new upstream patch from Alexander Wuerstlein
among the commits: it is now possible to flexibly configure nxagent's
/ x2goagent's key strokes. Visit

further details. Thanks to Alexander for this great contribution.
I also would like to thank X2Go's great i18n team. We have translated
x2goclient, plasma-widget-x2go, x2godesktopsharing and pyhoca-gui now
into 7-9 languages. Great work folks!!! Languages available are:
English, German, Russian, Dutch, Swedish, Bokmal (Norway), Spanish and
Danish. Translators for other languages are absolutely welcome, please

Hi Mike and folks,
Let me present to you a bug in 4.x version of x2goserver:
I'm using a Windows client to connect (3.99.31-pre1) and I just switch back to the 4.x on my Ubuntu 12.4.
When I was connecting to my laptop with another screen (phisical display) the laptop on windows switches the screen resolution when I use a diferent screen.
So I've 1024x* in some times and 800x600 other times.
When updating the x2goclient the screen on the Ubuntu was NOT updated automaticaly, so I had to switch it back to 800x600 and every time I want to switch to another monitor I have to manualy switch the screen resolution on Ubuntu.
Is there:
- a way to fix this?
- a workaround to undy the 4.x changes and go back to the 3.x of x2goclient?

@all: we receive many reports like the one from Rui below atm...
@Reinhard: could it be possible that this is related to disabling the xfixes extension in x2goagent.options?
Any other ideas? I'd be happy if one of the devs could test and confirm the issue and file a bug to X2Go BTS, Thanks!

Let me present to you a bug in 4.x version of x2goserver:
I'm using a Windows client to connect (3.99.31-pre1) and I just switch back to the 4.x on my Ubuntu 12.4.
When I was connecting to my laptop with another screen (phisical display) the laptop on windows switches the screen resolution when I use a diferent screen.
So I've 1024x* in some times and 800x600 other times.
When updating the x2goclient the screen on the Ubuntu was NOT updated automaticaly, so I had to switch it back to 800x600 and every time I want to switch to another monitor I have to manualy switch the screen resolution on Ubuntu.
Is there:
- a way to fix this?
- a workaround to undy the 4.x changes and go back to the 3.x of x2goclient?

As you can also see from the changelog entry of NX (redistributed), there has been quite some packaging work been done on that project. However, there also is a new upstream patch from Alexander Wuerstlein among the commits: it is now possible to flexibly configure nxagent's / x2goagent's key strokes. I also would like to thank X2Go's great i18n team. We have translated x2goclient, plasma-widget-x2go, x2godesktopsharing and pyhoca-gui now into 7-9 languages. Great work folks!!! Languages available are: English, German, Russian, Dutch, Swedish, Bokmal (Norway), Spanish and Danish. Well, light+love :) No problem.
On the bug subject: I've been able to create a workaround, creating two sessions one with 800x600 not in full screen and other with full screen. Hope this helps someone, it's not really a solution but it works for now.

It would immensely help for non-root installs. Imagine that a user wanted to have the x2gobinaries in /home/user/.local/bin, and his sysconfetc files in /home/user/.local/etc

I don't find it useful. Among all the different Unices and Linux distributions, the configuration directory has stayed the same.. for now at least ;)
It would immensely help for non-root installs. Imagine that a user wanted to have the x2gobinaries in /home/user/.local/bin, and his sysconfetc files in /home/user/.local/etc

With a little fortune we will also be able to provide an X2Go Client .dmg Image for Mac OS X.
