Hi devs,
FYI, some more X2go MLs are posted to GMANE:
http://blog.gmane.org/index.php?prefix=gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go
gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go.devel X2go development group () gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go.scm X2go Git commit messages (read-only) gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go.tags X2go Git taggings (read-only) gmane.linux.terminal-server.x2go.user X2go user mailing list (read-only)
Interesting for developers may be the scm and the tags postings at gmane.
Greets, Mike

Can these groups be made read-write? I prefer participating in OSS projects via gmane.
Also, the mail address obfuscation is very annoying, can this please be turned off?
Cheers,

I would not mind. Any comments or worries or pros by others?

Pro read/write for gmane for the user and dev mailinglist, it's really wrong to make them readonly. I don't know enough from the other lists. What I miss is the announce list, what should be read-only.
I prefer normal mail adresses (but I am not sure this can give more spam for people who are posting).
With regards, Paul van der Vlis.

Ok, I will checkout how we can change this.
I don't know enough from the other lists.
The others are ready-only anyway (no one can post via mailman, either).

Got that, will be added.

That was my reason for obfuscation. More opinions on this?

I did take a closer look:
The obfuscation addresses are delivered too. They say they are running anti-spam against it, but most mailservers are running anti-spam so I think it does not help. It can even give more identical spam because you have more e-mail addresses in this way.
And I think people who prefer a secret mail address will use some Gmail or Yahoo address on mailinglists, and not the real address.
So in my opinion it's better to use no obfuscation.
Here is more information: http://gmane.org/tmda.php
With regards, Paul.

Thanks for doing that. I will wait for the last edit requests I have
sent to GMANE to take effect (rw access to x2go-dev, x2go-user) and
after that, I will request non-obfuscation for all lists (if I do not
here anything sceptical anymore).

I have asked at Gmane for x2go-user, x2go-dev to become read-writable.
About the mail obfuscation I really would love to have more comments,
maybe someone can contribute Gmane experiences that relate to SPAM?

In the past, I've seen a number of legitimate URLs that looked like email addresses and got scrambled by this obfuscation method. Needless to say that this is an effective way to make the urls unusable to everyone.
