Hi!
I have this problem since a long time: cut & paste in the x2goclient itself (same machine to same machine) works perfectly. But to get the clipboard-stuff out of the x2goclient (and vice versa) to the main machine is not possible.
Since 1 week I got precise pangolin (12.04) on both of my machines, they have these packages:
dpkg -l|grep x2go
ii python-x2go 0.2.0.5-0~825~precise1 Python module for X2Go client support ii x2goagent 2:3.5.0.13-0~241~precise1 X2Go agent ii x2goclient 3.99.2.1-0~229~precise1 X2Go Client application (Qt4) ii x2godesktopsharing 3.0.1.4-0~68~precise1 share X2go desktops with other users (via shadow sessions) ii x2goserver 3.1.1.1-0~549~precise1 X2Go server daemon scripts ii x2goserver-extensions 3.1.1.1-0~549~precise1 X2Go server daemon scripts (extensions)
The packages are coming from the ubuntu-PPA
http://ppa.launchpad.net/x2go/stable/ubuntu
I guess this is up2date?
But the problem stays. It's a full desktop access. Do you need more informations?
Thanx,
Udo

What is your client version and platform?
If client-side is Windows, make sure to upgrade to latest x2goclient
and make sure using the integrated VcXsrv:
http://code.x2go.org/releases/binary-win32/x2goclient/

Absolutely right. :)
In fact that's one of the reasons I'm asking, I've seen lots of people having this problem with windows-combinations (and there are windows-based solutions), but I haven't found anyone with this problem in the pure linux world. Maybe no one is using it that way? I should add, I wrote servers, in fact I was talking 'bout desktops, of course. For me often there's no difference, so let's talk 'bout "desktop-servers". :)

So this is really weird then. I use several desktop sessions from my
notebook on several servers. I can paste between different sessions on
different servers and also between session and the local X display. No
matter if sessions run in desktop mode or rootless mode...
So I have to scratch my head on this...

Could it be that you're using different methods, with one working and the other failing?
After all, there's Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V, Ctrl-Ins/Shift-Ins, copying/pasting via right mouse button and context menu, copying/pasting via mouse-select/middle-mouse-button, etc.
And IIRC, there are different types of clipboards on Linux, as well. See, for example, this link here: http://mutelight.org/subtleties-of-the-x-clipboard

<snip> Fascinating article. I am a KDE and thus Klipper user. I have noticed that sometimes pasting works perfectly fine whereas other times, I must activate the latest entry in Klipper. I wonder if that has to do with the difference between PRIMARY/CLIPBOARD/SECONDARY? I've noticed particular problems with OpenOffice. Thanks - John

Seems likely, though I haven't really experimented with it myself. I remember cursing wildly after closing the last Iceweasel window and finding myself unable to paste into Icedove or some other application back from when I was mainly using Linux as my desktop OS (2003-2009 were the Years of the Linux Desktop, it all started going downhill from there ;-)).

I tried all of them: Ctrl-C/V, Mouse and context-menu. Nothing goes out of the client or into it.

Maybe it's because I'm using XFCE? I don't like Unity/KDE/Gnome...

could you test, if everything works fine with PyHoca-GUI?
$ apt-get install pyhoca-gui

I'm using neither Ubuntu standard (I don't like Unity) nor Gnome or KDE, I'm only using XFCE at this time. Maybe it's a problem with this environment?
Thanx,
