I can understand your considerations. Just to clarify on the last question: The organisation that is thinking about implementing x2go is a charity with the usual limited non-profit budget and they still have a couple of PPC/Tiger Macs around. For the sake of it, could you please try www.ionic.de/x2goclient-git-8c41c073e2-tiger-1.dmg? It's not meant to be official and I can't test it on 10.4 ppc but from what I see, it should work fine.
