Well, this depends on your Desktop Environment. I don't know how to do this for MATE. However, there might be configuration options for the MATE window manager (marco, I guess).

Update: Maybe this helps: https://www.maketecheasier.com/replace-mate-window-manager-with-openbox/ It mentions "dconf-editor" which might also help in configuring the current window manager instead of replacing it.
