The file /etc/x2go/keystrokes.cfg contained an entry to make the space key behave like ctrg+alt-f (switch fullscreen mode).

Ups, that file was intended just as an example of how one can configure things, not as a sensible default configuration. I'm not quite sure why this is installed as the default configuration...
I would suggest renaming this file to /etc/x2go/keystrokes.cfg.example and add an appropriate comment.
