The Desktop sharing feature is a feature of the upcomming release "baikal". Yes it will be possible to access a local, already running Desktop session.
What is the status of the new release?
The main new features are:
- serverside xdmcp support
- a plugin for firefox
- https:// session data access
- desktop sharing
at the moment we don't have an public "experimental/unstable" repository possible. At the moment this would just not be working more than one time...
