The server that works, that's where the NFS share is mounted. The workstation that fails, it uses the mounted NFS share from the server that works.
You mean the server that works is where the NFS share is mounted *from* - so for the server, this is a local filesystem, while for the workstation, it's a remotely mounted NFS file system, right?
Precisely.
cat session.log Error: Aborting session with 'Unable to open display 'nx/nx,options=/tmp/.x2go-localguy/C-localguy-137- 1509136412_stDXFCE_dp32/options:137''.
Well, interesting. Is this file still available? If yes, what is its content?

Also, if available, the "clients" file would be interesting.
In which directory? Here's what's in /tmp/.x2go-localguy/C-localguy-137-1509136412_stDXFCE_dp32:

So you are using arctica with ADSL. ADSL connections have been modified twice after 3.5.99.7, so maybe you should try the newest version, at least for improved speed.
True, I'd like to point out that these changes should at most affect the speed over this link type. The general behavior should mostly be unchanged (especially anything related to session management).
I'm not sure which piece of the puzzle this is referring to. I addressed it in the last email. Can you clarify? Update what package? X2Go on Mac is 4.1.1.1. On the server? We use this repo for nx-libs3.6 which appears to be the latest:
rpm -q nx-libs
