A further topic was using x2go on ubuntu * :
We've tried to get all wishes of the ubuntu community into a speciallized version, which did not contain any qt or kde dependency and was using the unpatched versions of the nx libraries. This version (available on launchpad)
I see something here: https://launchpad.net/x2go/trunk/2.99
could be installed without any configuration, but it was not possible to use the multiserver/ldap features.
Which software needed patches to realize that?
What about Samba, SSH and Cups, can X2go use system packages to avoid code-duplication?
We've stopped to develop this special version, but our lenny packages are compatible with ubuntu 9.04. So please use the actual lenny repository, import the database and add your user to the group "x2gousers" - this should work and you'll have all new client features.
I would really like a future where X2go (or something like that) and NX would find a way into Debian main (and with that in Ubuntu). I realize that this is the hard way, I know what the problems are.
If it helps I am willing to sponsor some money for development-work to get the NX protocol into Xorg, or in some kind of plugin for Xorg (to avoid license problems).
With regards, Paul van der Vlis.
