The X2Go client can be used on a terminal booted from an LTSP server. Alternatively X2Go provides a PXE boot for terminals as well (which I have not yet used).

User database can be served via LDAP or any other mechanism supported by SSH (which usually uses PAM).
i) Acess protection, security
Login works via SSH.
