Hi team, Thank you for the development of X2go, I'm using Kdrive on the Windows client on a daily basis and very happy with it! I am also using the HTML client but faced limitations with the keyboard that I could fix. X2Go: The Gathering 2024 (2024-06-28 to 2024-06-30) will take place at Linuxhotel, Essen, Germany

Dear $ALL, As stated in the subject line, X2Go: The Gathering 2024 will take place at Linuxhotel, Essen, Germany, from Friday afternoon, 2024-06-28, to Sunday afternoon/evening, 2024-06-30 and will, again, be a three-day "work and play" (coding, chatting, sightseeing, socializing) event. X2Go: The Gathering is the annual event where users, admins, and developers (including the i18n volunteers) of X2Go meet face to face, to discuss current X2Go-related issues, fix open bugs, and have a good time getting to know each other. As there is some overlap between X2Go, Arctica, and orca e.V., you can expect to see members of those groups as well. After 4 years spent "in exile" (with a skeleton crew of volunteers meeting at shackspace in 2020, and going completely virtual in the years 2021-2023) due to the pandemic situation, we are finally returning to a full real-life event at Linuxhotel (though we will be streaming/recording our sessions, so you can join in remotely as well). Note that while we do not require masks to be worn, it is still recommended and endorsed, especially in indoor areas. At the time of writing this invitation, and using some educated guesses regarding under-reporting and wastewater analysis, Covid infection rate in Germany is roughly somewhere between 1 out of 1000 and 1 out of 500 people per week. *ATTENTION!* If you want to join us *and* want to sleep in one of the hotel rooms at the Linuxhotel, we need the number of beds and nights you want to reserve, as well as *your full name* (as printed on your passport) and *your nationality* by *2024-06-07* *23:59:59* *CEST*!!! Very important!!! After that date, we cannot guarantee that we will still be able to reserve a room for you! First come, first serve! As single rooms are in short supply, please book your bed in a 2- or 3-bed room, unless you absolutely have to use a single room. Dear $ALL, X2Go will be present at Linux-Info-Day <https://www.luga.de/static/LIT-2024/> in Augsburg, Germany on Saturday, April 20th. At this event, we will have a booth where we will demo X2Go-KDrive, as well as the HTML5Client beta and X2Go's integration into the latest Remmina client. We're still waiting to hear back from the Linux-Info-Day crew regarding a talk slot - we have submitted a CfP for a talk regarding how to incorporate SSH, 2FA and X2Go into a simple, but effective Ransomware protection for vintage as well as current Microsoft Windows versions. x2goruncommand is not exiting after logout in some distros

Hi all, who wrote this in /usr/bin/x2goruncommand?: --------------------------------------------- # This is gonna be a nasty trick now... # Most applications run in foreground (fine!), but some fork to background (urgghh... e.g. konsole, iceweasel, etc.). # By capturing their STDOUT, we force the process to remain in (sort of) foreground until the process has finished. # This works fabulously with all applications that don't cleanly close their file descriptors (which is probably # 99% of all applications out there...). STDOUT=`$EXEC_WRAPPER $cmd$args` ------------------------------------------------ looks like some DEs for example XFCE and Plasma on Ubuntu22 and Alma9 starting some processes which are occupying stdout and not terminating them after logout. As result after logout user have a blank screen which stays forever, that can be very confusing. We should remove it at least for desktop sessions. Hi, by way of an introduction: I maintain the x11/x2go-client package on pkgsrc (<https://pkgsrc.se/x11/x2go-client>). The package has a few patches, which you may be interested in. While updating to 4.1.2.3, I stumbled over a build problem: In <https://gitlab.x2go.org/x2go/client/x2goclient/-/commit/fc2db75ab86889cdde6…>, the MAKEOVERRIDES variable is supposedly set to a list of make variables that are safe to propagate to sub-make processes.* I find that this breaks the build, since gmake (v4.4.1 here) interprets the first word ("SHELL") as target, which it cannot find. Coincidentally, the Arch package <https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=x2goclient> also has a sed(1) command that cleans out the lists. What was the motivation of the change? And where does it actually work? Package: x2goserver Severity: wishlist Hi hi, I tried to start cinnamon with this command: /usr/bin/gnome-session --session cinnamon2d but it fail's! If I set it to: /etc/X11/Xsession it should start the last session which is cinnamon but come's up with a XFCE session... [12:18pm] [12:33pm]sunweaver:mirco, the command launched by X2Go does not accept cmdline parms. Write a shell wrapper on the server and execute that. Note: your wrapper must be in $PATH [12:33pm]mirco:THX made a wrapper like this and placed it in /usr/local/bin: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/gnome-session --session cinnamon2d [12:37pm]mirco:sadly I end up with a blank screen, beatified by the default debian Desktop background… Which is also my personal one!
