The release tarball for 0.0.0.1 has configure.ac, but no configure. Please consider running the appropriate generators in future before shipping one. :) (The name "lightdm-remote-session-x2go" is also quite long, but perhaps that's just me.)

Dear all, The X2Go Project is proud to announce a couple of new X2Go core component releases: - x2goserver (3.1.1.6) - x2goclient (3.99.3.0) - nx-libs (incl. x2goagent, 3.5.0.16) All new packages are already available in our stable repositories (Debian, Ubuntu). The binaries for Windows / Mac OS of X2Go Client will follow ASAP. PING@: Mihai (Mac OS build?), Alex (Windows build?) In the new X2Go Server release several issues got addressed: o X2Go server now works with i18n ,,Desktop'' folder names (using XDG for detecting the folder name) o Prevent x2gocleansessions from leaving zombie processes behind In x2goclient, several new features have been added. We urgently ask to report back new issue that may have come up by this massive code change: o Native / local RDP client support (Linux only, use it on your thinclients!!!) o Encapsulate X2Go-proxied fullscreen RDP session in desktop X2Go sessions, not rootless anymore. => X2GO logo appears on screen after session startup of such an RDP session o Add SSH proxy and HTTP proxy support (HTTP proxy is only usable with a libssh version not yet released, so this feature won't work for most of you...) o Fix creation of desktop shortcut icons for launching individual session profiles in hidden mode o Fix broken Xinerama support (got broken when we fixed x2goclient being able to handle non-bash login sessions) o new desktop shell in session type configuration: XFCE o add package: x2goplugin-provider, shows an example plugin configuration (visit: http://localhost/x2goplugin.html) o Much work on the HTTP broker client code o SSH broker added to the client code o Fix x2goplugin (Failed to resolve hostname issue) o New translations: Spanish, Danish (Thanks to Ricardo and Christoffer!!!) o Updated translation files (thanks to the other translators, too!!!) If you install this package (with apache2), you can open a demo plugin site with this URL: http://localhost/x2goplugin.html The x2goplugin gets openend and an XFCE session (Debian wheezy default desktop) should get started on host localhost (which should basically work, if x2goserver is installed locally). Major issue with users' mounts and encrypted (ecryptfs) homes in suspended sessions

Hi all, I would like to report a major problem affecting people using home folder encryption (ecryptfs) and miscellaneous FUSE mounts. When session suspended, user's folders got unmounted. As result applications and services left in undefined state and that might lead to severe results. In addition to banal crashes, dropbox and friends might decide that data was deleted locally and sync that to cloud! I guess above related to the fact all pam sessions are closed during suspend. Any ideas how to fix that? P.S. Previously NoMachine's server was available as a fallback. But due to recent changes to libCairo (http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=16) it's currently broken. And I am not sure when and if at all, it's going to be fixed. So currently there is no solution. Thanks

Package: python-x2go Severity: wishlist Version: 0.2.1.0 I am using PyHoca on Windows. Sometimes pyhoca disconnects from a server (while for example putty keeps connected to the same server). I guess there is some time out or keep alive that is too low, so the session gets disconnected, when the connection is unreliable. This there some way to configure the ssh parameters (e.g. configfile)? Also for some host the ssh host key has been saved and for others every time I connect I have to answer yes to accept the host key. Is there any way to tell pyhoc to save the host key?

The x2gognomebindings package will conflict with gnome-session (>= 3) with its next release. We will gradually remove the package from distro versions that do not have a GNOME-2 anymore. This might take some time. A new cairo "stable" release is out and it seems to trigger another bug with NX. When I update the remote system to the new cairo release the Xfce session gives lots of such errors: The program 'xfce4-netload-plugin' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'. (Details: serial 225 error_code 2 request_code 25 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) The program 'wrapper' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'. Steps to reproduce: Create a batch file anyname.cmd with this content: @echo off \\box\x2go\Windows\x2goclient\x2goclient.exe --portable --no-menu --no-session-edit --hide --add-to-known-hosts --session="BOX" --home="%USERPROFILE%" --session-conf="\\box\x2go\box-configs\sessions" --autostart=iceweasel --user=unlimited1 pause Save this file in a directory where the user has write access. Double-click the batch file, enter password. Close Iceweasel. Right-Click the X2Go icon in the Notification area. Select "BOX" (or whatever you named your session, if you didn't follow the example from above). Select "Exit". As soon as the session terminates, ALL the files in the directory where the batch file was stored are deleted - including the batch file itself. This is BAD(tm). I've seen this with an older copy of x2goclient for Windows and reported it to Alex back then, not sure if it never got fixed or if it cropped up again.

Fontsizes of Published Applications

Hello everybody, In Published-Application-Mode my Applications (libreoffice, iceweasel, gedit...) do not respect the configured Fontsizes for Menu-Labels & Co. They miss the corresponding configuration infrastructure (eg. gnome: "gnome-settings-daemon") and fallback to 10-px-Fonts - much to small for modern Monitors. My local hotfix is: a) added a .x2go_login to x2goruncommand and /etc/x2go (like x2go_logout) (...) test -r /etc/x2go/x2go_login && . /etc/x2go/x2go_login # run x2goserver-extensions for pre-runcommand (...) b) in $<users_homdir>/.x2go_login #!/bin/sh /usr/bin/gnome-settings-daemon Questions: - Did i miss a proposed Mechanism for setting the Application-Fontsize? - could the .x2go_login mechanism be useful in future? Kde4 and Plasma Mess - Is anyone working with it?

Hi dear, Fellows. i've been working with x2go for some time, but now i'm entrenched with KDE4 after many years with KDE3 running great with nomachine. KDE4 is still a mess nowadays. As anybody knows KDE4 has lots of problems with sizing and resizing of plasma panels, screen geometry and other stuff as usal. So i had to code lots of scripts that take use of x2goserver-run-extensions: What these scripts do is resize the plasma-panel and resize the screen geometry when resuming a session in case of the resuming is done in another Desktop or laptop with a change in resolution. My problem is that for plasma to assume the new resolution you have to kill it and start-it once again after you change plasma-desktop-appletsrc with the new values. So, when you do this after resuming the session, every time you move/maximize/minimize a window they slow to a crawl. How to test/reproduce this sympton. If you have a x2goserver installed with a kde4 session, kubuntu or other, start a session, go to konsole and do: kquitapp plasma-desktop && plasma-desktop & after plasma start if you try to move any window around everything will be allright and fast as before. After that do the same thing but after a x2gosuspend and in a runing resumed session try to move your konsole window around the desktop, it will lag like hell. If you this on a real display on your laptop, or in a running session everything will run fast as before. P.S: i'm sending this same email to both user & dev mailing list. The hang is caused by DISPLAY=:0 LANG=C xrandr | grep ' connected ' | cut -d ' ' -f1 which, when run manually from the command line, gives "xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default default" [sic!] Disabling the entire routine with -foreach (`DISPLAY=:0 LANG=C xrandr | grep ' connected ' | cut -d ' ' -f1`) +foreach('') fixes the issue for singlehead mode, but breaks multihead mode. Package: x2gothinclient Version: 1.0.99.1 Severity: wishlist Package creates /home/x2goclient and all the required subdirectories, if not present, but fails to create the user account and set its group membership. This leads to an error about chown x2goclient:x2goclient (somedirectoryname) not being possible. Current workaround: useradd x2goclient (Note that this will create a locked account, as shown by the "!" in the password field in /etc/shadow)

SSH Agent (auth+forwarding) support in Python X2Go / PyHoca-GUI

Hi all, during the last couple of days I have added SSH Agent (forwarding+auth) support to Python X2Go (and so to PyHoca-GUI and PyHoca-CLI). The feature is already available in the nightly-build (Debian) archive. The Ubuntu nightly-built packages should follow soon. For SSH agent forwarding you need the not-yet-released Paramiko version 1.8.0. For Debian I have packaged a Git snapshot and it is available with the nightly-build of python-x2go. Try it out: place your SSH pubkey on machine-1 and machine-2 (which can be reached via machine-1) into the (for this demo) otherwise empty files: user-1@machine-1:~user-1/.ssh/authorized_keys and user-2@machine-2:~user-2/.ssh/authorized_keys Back on your local client: $ ssh-add [<priv-keyfile>] $ pyhoca-gui Enable SSH agent forwarding in connection tab of a session profile for machine-1. Use a simple TERMINAL session command. Connect to user-1@machine-1 and start a session on machine-1 $ echo $SSH_AUTH_SOCK /tmp/ssh-<hash>/agent.<pid> $ ssh <user-2>@<machine-2> (should work without password) For the authentication from user-1@machine-1 to user-2@machine-2 you use a SSH agent connection that is tunneled back through Python X2Go to your client machine (the machine you run PyHoca-GUI on). So, the SSH agent on your client machine serves a challenge/response request from SSH client programs within X2Go sessions. Note: if you try the above with a GNOME desktop (XFCE4 probably as well) the gnome-keyring will hijack the SSH agent functionality and ignore forwarded SSH agent connections (with x2goserver-xsession package installed). Use this command to disable SSH agent feature in gnome-keyring (within the X2Go Session): $ gconftool-2 -s /apps/gnome-keyring/daemon-components/ssh false --type bool After you have applied this gconf change, logout and start a new GNOME session. Now SSH agent stuff is handled through ssh-agent and it should also be aware of SSH agent forwarding connections. Have fun! Bug#40: Reproduce

I was asked how to reproduce this bug. I got the problem from a customer who uses a Ubuntu 12.04 laptop as a client (I don't know which client version) and a server with Debian Squeeze and an up-to-date X2go server. I have reproduced it then myself with my personal computer as a client (Debian Squeeze 64-bit with some backports) and a computer of another customer as server (Debian Squeeze 32 bit, up-to-date X2go server). There I could reproduce the bug. Both fullscreen and in a window. What I did is login on the server, change the keyboard settings in Gnome to deadkeys, and test it in the keyboard-settings-window. On non of this computers I use this line in sources.list: deb http://packages.x2go.org/debian squeeze main So no "heuler". With regards, Paul van der Vlis.
