Hello I tried to test x2goplugin (Firefox plugin) and used instructions on http://www.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:components:x2goplugin?s[]=plugin I have build website saying "This website will offer you a plugin named ..." but it does not work. Unfortunately, the following URLs do not work: http://www.x2go.org/doku.php/wiki:components:x2goplugin-example http://plugin.x2go.org/download/x2goplugin_linux32.xpi http://plugin.x2go.org/media/x2goplugin.js Can you help me to find x2goplugin_linux32.xpi and x2goplugin.js ? Dear Daniel, Network manager defines a default security policy that allows altering networking-related settings only when the user sits in front of the computer. This policy in general does make sense, otherwise users would be able to break their active session. It seems unfortunate that this policy seems to affect VPN settings as well. This issue should definitely be discussed with the Network Manager maintainers. However before doing that, I think should learn more about the current situation. For instance, I'm not sure if x2go registers a proper console-kit session besides the one that is created as part of the ssh connection. I could imagine having a configuration switch to consider 'x2go' remote sessions as "local" at least for testing purposes. I fear we in x2go should really revisit and properly document the design of session management - it is not trivial at all! Unfortunately, none of the current developers seem to have the resources to do this properly. For instance, as you have noticed yourself, x2goserver-xsession is not installed by default, but TBH, I think this is a bug that is related to the overly strict recommend relationship declaration on the x2goserver package (another wtf from my side). The only documentation for this package is here: http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=x2goserver.git;a=blob;f=x2goserver-xsession/d… - Unfortunately, it leaves a lot of questions (such as "what is a Xsession config file", etc.). I'm not sure how to proceed from here, hence, I copy the x2go-dev mailing list as I feel that this user issue indicates a larger, conceptional problem. What you propose is to introduce a completely new security policy: everyone in a certain group 'netdev' may change everything. This may be appropriate in your scenario, but may not be in others. For instance, have you considered what other packages "use" the netdev group? Are you fully aware about the consequences in terms of additional privileges users gain by being put in that group? Moreover, in a managed environment, where all users are in a network directory such as NIS or LDAP, it is not that simple to add a user to a computer-local group, as the group may have a different group ID on different machines. Such scenarios are not uncommon for larger x2go deployments at all! Merry Holidays! Just downloaded latest client for OS X, but don't see the Proxy server option. - Is this for windows only at present? Is an OS X version in the works? - Is there a way to simulate the proxy server option, possibly in a script? Any examples? Thx Ted

close #75 thanks Hi Reinhard, I have checked this issue on my machine. This bug used to exist for quite a while and I ignored it. Reproducing with old pyhoca-gui versions: o generate two rsa/dsa pub+priv keypairs A and B o install the pubkey of A on the server o test that privkey of A for authentication -> works o test privkey B for authentication -> fails with ,,not a valid DSA key'' The error message is raised in Python Paramiko. With latest pyhoca-gui code the issue has vanished. If you use an invalid key (i.e. one that fails to auth with the server), then pyhoca-gui falls back to password authentication. Feel free to reopen this bug, if you experience this differently with versions >= 0.2.1.1 of Python X2Go and PyHoca-GUI. It is overkill as well, causing extra dependencies to be installed at build time. The attached patch fixes. What happens is that directories from the X2Go installation are suddenly mounted as /etc and /bin in CygWin. Since fundamental commands such as "/bin/ls" are thereby missing, nothing works. To repair, I do the following: - Start a Windows command prompt (the cygwin path in Windows is still working). - umount /etc - umount /bin Now CygWin is working normally. After this fix, I can still use X2Go without problems and without the mounts coming back, so I just cannot see why the mounts were necessary in the first place. Sometimes, however, the harmful mounts do come back. I cannot pinpoint exactly when this happens, but at least it is not every time I restart the computer and not every time I run X2Go. x2go for Fedora packaging issues

I'm looking at packaging x2go for Fedora and am running into a few issues which I'm hoping to get resolved. nx-libs: - bin/Makefile doesn't support DESTDIR. The attached nx-libs-destdir.patch partially addresses that. - The various nx*/configure.in files do not honor passed in compiler flags. The attached nx-libs-optflags.patch fixes that. Note also though that CFLAGS is used in some and CPPFLAGS in others. - Is there a preferred way to install into /usr rather than /usr/local? I ended up doing: sed -i -e 's,/usr/local,/usr,' nx-X11/config/cf/site.def - It would be very nice if you could support installing into /usr/lib64. I had to do the following: sed -i -e 's,/lib/nx,/%{_lib}/nx,' nx-X11/config/cf/X11.tmpl sed -i -e 's,/usr/lib/,/usr/%{_lib}/,' bin/* make install ... USRLIBDIR=/usr/lib64/nx SHLIBDIR=/usr/lib64/nx # Make sure x2goagent is linked relative and on 64-bit rm -rf %{buildroot}%{_prefix}/lib/x2go mkdir -p %{buildroot}%{_libdir}/x2go/bin ln -sf ../../nx/bin/nxagent %{buildroot}%{_libdir}/x2go/bin/x2goagent x2goserver: - Does not honor passed in CFLAGS. There is no qt4 prefix on Fedora, and in general that should be specified by -I... General: - Why the use of install -o root -g root? Is this a debian build specific thing? On rpm systems this fails when builds are done as non-root (and it's redundant when done as root). Tracking the build closer, it looks like a lot is getting built during the "make depend" stage: depending in lib/X11... make[5]: Entering directory `/builddir/build/BUILD/nx-libs-HEAD/nx-X11/lib/X11' cd ../../../nxcomp && /builddir/build/BUILD/nx-libs-HEAD/my_configure (I've set CONFIGURE to point to my_configure following the opensuse buildserver rpm specfile) Now, why is this happening? In nx-X11/lib/X11/Makefile there are deps like: depend:: $(NX_XCOMPLIBTARGET) Which triggers a build of nxcomp. These come from nx-X11/lib/X11/Imakefile and are complete nonsense - why are we building things during the depend stage? Removing those exposes the lack of proper build dependencies between NX_X11, Xcomp, and Xcompext (and what the previous depend hack was trying to work around). The attached patch I believe fixes both of these issues, and hopefully fixes the parallel make issue as well. It seems that this problem can be "worked around" by changing the anti-alias settings. For me, setting font anti-aliasing from "None" to "argb" in the 'gnome-tweak-tool' or the KDE settings center unbroke the unreadable fonts in openoffice. However, this seems to be system dependent. It has been reported that on other systems, any of these three settings do. It remains unclear to me what the actual underlying problem is. -- regards, Reinhard

Segfaults in latest x2goclient

I'm trying out the latest x2goclient git against the latest x2goserver git and am getting segfaults when I try to connect. There is likely something wrong of the server side install, but the client shouldn't segfault. I'm not very familiar with the code so I'm not much help I'm afraid. checking exit status check command message Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. These are the software versions of the x2go software I'm enjoying: x2goserver 3.1.1.4-2 x2goclient 3.99.2.2-1 Regarding pyhoca-* I was kindly pointed to the x2go website by another IRC user to learn about it and since it isn't already packaged in my GNU/Linux distribution (Arch Linux) I was planning to add it; however some errors at compile time what I don't have the time right now to debug[0] made it impossible to install & run the application. Please let me know if you need further feedback from my part. [0] From the glimpse I gave to the errors it seems it's related to the way Python 2 is packaged here in Arch, being named /usr/bin/python2 in contrast to most other distros (and Python 3 /usr/bin/python) and thus breaking compatibility with all the Python 2 scripts created outside AL. This issue is really easy to resolve, I just need a couple of free hours to figure it out and test that everything works okay and then I will pack pyhoca for Arch.

Issue with libXcompext

I'm not quite sure how to properly fix this "upstream". It looks like nxcompext/configure.in (or Makefile.in) is "older" the others, and in particular does not appear to properly handle installing the library with libXcompext.so.3 remaining a symbolic link to libXcompext.so.3.5.0. PulseAudio 3.0 release imminent -- x2go relevance?

I see that a PulseAudio 3.0 release is imminent: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/3.0 Will PA3 make a difference to x2go? I noticed this in the changelog: "Configurable device latency offset" Will that new feature be useful to x2go? I am particularly interested in whether the new PA3 will help with the audio problems on the Windows x2go client.

Package: x2goclient Version 3.99.3.1 The new SSH proxy feature in x2goclient is not compatible with PyHoca-GUI's SSH proxy feature. The config files are interpreted differently. As a PyHoca-GUI with SSH proxy feature has been in Debian for a while, my p personal wish is to have this (whatever ,,this'' is) adapted in x2goclient. I will investigate this further later and report to this BTS bug what's needed.
